The owner, Tim does an excellent job at letting you know various facts about the things you can expect as your Persian rug ages. He has a crew accompany him who specialize in fine art installation. We were caring for a dog for awhile that thought the entire house was hers to use as a bathroom. We were really worried that the rug was ruined but Tim said he deals a lot with this issue. I called to inquire about their service and asked to have someone come out and take a look at our rugs. Within 5 minutes Tim called me back, explained his service and we scheduled an appointment. Upon arrival, Tim took our rug and wound it in fresh cellophane, and did the same for the pad. We had him look at the additional rugs and after his assessment he gave us instructions for cleaning and stated the cost to clean them didn't make sense since they were too beat up. Tim left with our rugs and not 40 min. later a package arrived. It was a bunch of cake pops and doggie treats. This is an incredible value-add service and one that was never expected. He personally cleaned our rug and when he brought it back (about 3 weeks later...which was exactly as stated) he provided us care instructions and told us to call if there were any questions. Having Tim clean our rug by hand vs. a company who uses chemicals has already paid dividends. No smells or odors have emanated from the rug at all. The price of cleaning our rug was not inexpensive but I can state confidently that the service provided and the quality and care which he treated the rugs, our dog and family far outweigh consideration of any other service. You can't go wrong with Tim. More small businesses should take a page from his book of professionalism and courtesy. read more

So I will start this review by saying I have not had anything cleaned by Aegis yet. I am looking for a place that will clean my sheep skin rug and left a voicemail for Tim asking if his company does this. He returned my call to let me know they do not clean sheep skin but he gave me some advice about how to get it cleaned elsewhere. One corner of our red Turkish rug got wet when the roof leaked. Some color ran. When the rug dried, the corner that had been wet was darker than the rest of the rug. I called Aegis. On the phone, they explained that Turkish rugs use vegetable dyes and they tend to be overdyed. They said that they couldn't promise what would happen if we tried anything on the rug. It would likely get worse. So we'll do nothing. But I really appreciated the candid advice, even though it meant turning business away. When I next do need rugs cleaned, I'll definitely call these people again. read more

I just called Aegis to see about having a single 3'x5' commercial (not hand tufted) mat-backed oriental cleaned, and I spoke with Tim, who very kindly told me that cleaning such a rug would be a waste of money due to the cheap glue used on the backing of these rugs -- they are essentially throwaways! Although I won't reveal the name of the large national high-end chain store that sold me this beautiful but expendable rug I don't think any of these stores reveal this fatal flaw in their products before you get them out of the barn, or barrel, or off their tree-named street ;^}. Tim was honest and funny -- "I'm not allergic to money but I don't want you to waste yours!" -- and he gave me good advice for free. THIS is what real customer service is all about: expertise, honesty, empowerment of the customer, and NEVER providing a service that is not needed or inappropriate. I have other REAL orientals that will need cleaning, and friends with many more, and I know who I will call/recommend when they need care. I found Tim after an internet search and gave him a call. I listened to the recording of how rugs should be cleaned and it also gave me information on what to look out for with other companies. I left Tim a message with a brief description of the service I was looking for and he called me back promptly. At this point, I had called several other companies who routed me to call centers or a front desk associate and they had all quoted me a price to clean the rug. Aegis is different because Tim is the one not only answering the phone and talking to you but he is also doing the cleaning and has many years of experience. So with Aegis you get to talk to the professional who will be doing the cleaning, not just answering the phones and doing the scheduling. Tim is extremely nice and personable, plus he is very honest. He informed me that while he would love to take my money, he just couldn't because the type of rug I had would not be cleaned to a satisfactory standard and he didn't want to perform a service he knew would not come out well. In addition, he said that the cleaning itself would be equal to if not more than just replacing the rug altogether. He gave me a lot of information about the rug and how they have tried to clean them in the past but with no luck. He also gave me tips on cleaning and replacing rugs in general. He then gave me a tip to try to clean the rug since he didn't want to leave me empty handed and asked that I follow up with him when I tried it to let him know how it turned out. Overall, Tim with Aegis is honest and genuine. Even though he didn't clean the rug, I know that he has the customers best interests at heart and wants to do the best job possible. read more

Excellent experience from Aegis! Had a very large rug that needed the royal treatment. My family and I had used another long time Austin establishment who recently moved locations, from way-north to way-south. I decided to call around and see what my other options were. Immediately upon calling Aegis, Tim (the owner) answered with an abundance of enthusiasm and answered all of my questions with extreme knowledge and professionalism. He explained to me the process, his cleaning plant, how Aegis differs from others (without putting the others down), and an approximate cost based on my rug dimensions. Their price is inclusive of everything, to include delivery both ways and ALL cleaning options, rather than most companies' a-la-carte options. I called back a day later and booked a particular pick-up date. A few days later, I received a hand written thank-you note and confirmation of our pick-up date, a nice touch. Tim and the delivery company arrived on time. I was at work, and Tim took the time to explain the process to my wife as well as showing her some worn and troubled spots. He basically "diagnosed" the run within 15 minutes of laying eyes on it and could asses its use - very impressive. Later that day, we received a hand delivered box of warm cookies from Tiff's Treats with a "thank you for your business" note, signed "Tim". This was a thoughtful gesture especially since we were in the process of moving for a home renovation. The rug cleaning was completed within the previously estimated two week time period. Tim personally hand delivered the rug wrapped in breathable plastic until we moved back into our home. We also purchased from him a custom rug pad that supposedly is the best option for hardwood floor and rug protection. This is important and we're putting some new hardwoods down. To summarize, the experience was incredible. I anticipate the rug looks fantastic. I'll be sure to update my review when we unroll the rug and put it back down.
