At 11pm on 12/21, we noticed that our carpet in the master bedroom was soaked. We live in a condo, so we had no idea where this water was coming from, but assumed it was a pretty major leak next door. We found out the next day that the neighboring upstairs unit had a water heater leak that flooded the unit below them causing major damage and then leaked into from their unit into our bedroom. The next morning it was almost impossible to get someone to come out (being a Sunday and so close to the holidays). Our own insurance did not even have an agent available for us until Monday. I was told about this company by the plumber working next door who had worked with them before and highly recommended them. Sure enough, they had someone at our condo within the hour. My husband and I were very impressed by Christian's professionalism and knowledge. He was very thorough in describing the process and seemed to have a good understanding about what we should be expecting the next few days. Christian was so helpful and answered all the questions we had. Before he left, he removed the baseboards and cleared up some of the soaked carpet pad. He left us with a dehumidifier to start drying out our carpet and wall. He even gave us his contact info to text/call if we had other questions or issues come up which was much appreciated. The next day (Monday) AFC was in contact with us and scheduled another team to come out and take out the carpet portion and set up fans and containment. Thank you Diego S., and James and rest of team! There was some miscommunication and I ended up showing up late to let them in and they were so understanding. Diego was very knowledgeable as well and he was also great about answering any questions I had. They came out again the next day (on christmas eve) to take out the drywall and helped me move some things out of the way before they cut into the wall. I even forgot a few things in my rush and Diego brought them to me just to make sure they didn't get dusty. Thank you again Diego for saving my husband's shot glass collection, he appreciated it! This team really does care about the customer and it is evident in how they do their work. They are professional and personable, the kind of people that you would want to have working with you to get your home back to normal. I cannot say enough good things about this staff. We still have some things they are working on to get back to normal, but in the amount of time that has passed, a lot has been done and we are both so grateful. Special thanks to Christian and Diego. Nightmare before Easter!!!! A home owners worse nightmare. After SD's record braking rainfall in years waking up to my crawl space filled with water with only a few inches to spare. I yelped, AFC Flood & Fire, and Cory came to my rescue. After inspecting the damage, he reassured me that I was in good hands and they would take care of it. Then AFC sent Jason and Diego to fully inspect the inside of the house for any other issues. Jason and Diego was very informative and explained the process and quickly pointed out some problems that needs fixing fast. AFC, Flood and Fire is here is make my cloudy skies shine bright ????? If I could give them a "no star" I would because AFC left me hanging and didn't follow through with the job. They never had a leak detection done. Corey assured me that they would get the issue resolved, and Sisco never followed through. This company is dishonest, untrustworthy and is not worth your time and money. They will take your money and leave you to fend for yourself. A month later and Super Dry came to my rescue. Run away fast. You will be left with more issues then when you started if you put your trust and money into AFC. Run fast!!!! Update to your response, Carrie. AFC failed to perform the work that they said they would do. That is not what Corey said. Jason and Diego came out and removed my bathroom door, tapped up my floors, had another company come out and cut a hole in my wall for a lead and asbestos test. I had more interaction with Brady's Carpet care that came out to remove the water. Five days later Cisco shows up and drops off a pump at 4:00 pm and tells my family to make sure you don't break it or you'll have to pay for it. Then expects us to stay all night holding and watching the pump. Then he comes into my yard doesn't say anything early the very next day to pick up the pump. Then Cisco sent a text I needed the pump for another job and that was the end of it. AFC simply disappeared. Not a call or a follow up. Even if the insurance wasn't going to cover your company failed to provide for the customer which is me the home owner not the insurance company. I tried calling Cisco the GM and he texted me saying Sorry I can't talk right now. Then I never heard a thing. Until I called and talked to Tony. Then I asked for reimbursement for lack of completing the job. Cisco was rude and asked me what do you want me to do???? By then I had hired Super dry. Communication lack there of, over 6 weeks. No response. There was no recommendation, no communication. Carrie, I never once spoke to you? You called because of my review after the fact, two months later. I recently experienced the misfortune of water damage to the wood floor in my bathroom. My house was built in the 1920s, so repairs need to be handled with care. A friend recommended AFC Flood & Fire to do the mitigation for the damage, and I was connected with Robert as my project manager. Robert is ex-military, which really showed, because he is very organized, knowledgeable, and professional. His team included David. Jason, Tony, Oscar, and Christian. All of these guys were very conscientious, hard-working, and friendly. They showed up on time, got the work done efficiently, and left my house and yard clean. I know nothing about water damage mitigation, so it was great to have Robert just take over the process, while keeping me informed of each step. AFC was recommended by our plumber. AFC visited our home to assess what needed to be completed. AFC sent out contractors to complete the demolition and sanitization. The contractors did a tremendous job, kept my family and I up to date on their progress and made sure that I was satisfied with their work before moving on to next steps. Our water heater leaked and caused water damage to our house so we were referred to AFC to take care of the damage before our new water heater could be installed. Cory came within an hour of being called and placed a dehumidifier to start the drying process as soon as possible. He helped arrange for the temp water heater guy to come the next morning and explained the steps to follow. He even helped us submit the claim to our insurance and explained the details of the situation to the insurance agent. The next day, Felipe, Diego, Isaac, and James came by to remove the damaged walls and set up extra dehumidifiers. Now we've moved on to working on the actual remodeling part with a different contractor? But everything up to this part has been relatively stress free and moving along well. Communication has been easy and they seem to have a good system going to make things efficient. read more

Water heater in upstairs condo leaked into my condo. AFC F&F contacted and responded promptly. Kudos to the prep team who came out this morning. Diego, Christian, Jason and James arrived on time and were the ultimate professionals. The explained the overall plan which decreased my high stress level. They were extremely conscientious about making the environment safe. They were a well oiled machine that worked well togethe, and were notably respectful not just of me but also with each other, which was evident in their work. This is only day one of a long water mediation /repair process but I am already impressed. Final review: Project finished - a job well done; exceeded my expectations. A few glitches along the way (as to be expected with any job of this nature). Cory was the project manager and he stepped up the plate each time to quickly address and resolve all my concerns. We contacted AFC Flood & Fire for a hot water pipe burst issue in our home's crawl space. Cisco came to install the remedial equipment. Upon the initiation of the project we requested several times a copy of the signed contract with their company's signature and an estimate of the damages - he always avoided the topic. He installed the remedial equipment on the 14th of October. Later he insisted that we obtain for him the endorsement amount for bacterial fungi from the insurance company. On October 20th when we didn't disclose the information to him, he went berserk and started all of the mentioned below and abandoned our project. To date, November 1st AFC has REFUSED to remove its equipment. We are an elder couple and feel that Cisco is taking advantage of our situation. This company is nothing but a NIGHTMARE! Their presentation says: "AFC Flood and Fire exists to serve our homeowners by creating {peace of mind} and {getting their lives back to normal, fast}. We are experts in the restoration industry and aim to be San Diego's number one choice for mitigation work. We like to think of ourselves as partners with our customers and our employees, living by the Golden Rule and always aiming to elevate the lives of those we meet". They are totally the opposite of their declaring presentation. *Cisco started our project on October 14 to end on October 25. On October 20th he got angry at us for not providing the insurance information and abandoned the project. *After that date he stopped taking our calls and would not reply to our voicemails. *Cisco has shout at us the times when we requested the estimate before he continued with the project "Why do you care about the price, the insurance is paying, NOT you!". *Cisco has menace with a bad report on our home to the insurance company to stop them from covering our lose. *Cisco refuses to remove his equipment from our premises (has more than 10 machines running simultaneously). His argument is that he has many jobs ahead of us and we have to wait until our turn comes. *He destroyed the lower kitchen cabinets (that were in good condition - leaving only scraps of cabinets hardware a few drawers and the facing of some cabinets) *They don't take our calls *We left message after message to Cisco, Fred, Jason and Carrie without any reply from ANY OF THEM. *Cisco gave us several business cards with different phone numbers but if you call those other numbers "Cisco" answers on MOST of those different numbers . . . always with an unpleasant attitude. Refuses to lower his voice despite of asking him to moderate his tone. He shouts over us not giving an opportunity to talk to work out the issues or to establish a common ground to solve the problems, if there ever was any. *They are NOT affiliated with the BBB *and MOST LIKELY work WITHOUT a License *Carrie Jauregui is the President of the company. Her business card was given to us by Cisco. I strongly believe Carrie IS A MADE UP PERSON. When I called "HER" number Cisco answers her phone and he said she'll NEVER call us because her line of work with the company is different from these issues. We think he's angry because we are not playing his game to clean out the insurance company. Whether we win or lose, AFC Flood & Fire and Cisco have been reported to our insurance company. It takes substantially poor service to make me write a bad review but at this point i feel obligated to tell others out there to avoid this company at all cost. The communication and logistics is abysmal. This all started during the demo process of our slab leak AFC made the mistake of throwing away our cabinet doors that were just fine. Something they themselves admit this was done in error and that they would rectify at the end of the job. All good so far. Then...... job for reconstruction is done on 04/28 and i reach out to Sisco to tell him we're ready for their guy to come out measure and get the doors replaced so we can have the insurance company refinish them as needed. Silence. May 3rd - i poke to see when the guy is coming out and apparently he cant reach his cabinet guy and still trying. Not a good sign. We offered to take the measurements ourselves with pictures to send to the cabinet maker to help expedite process. This was done and sent.... more waiting. May 6th - cabinet maker still wants to come out to get his own measurements. Fine no problem. This is done same day to his credit and he said should take about 2 weeks or so to get doors. May 17th - text for status. Told me he hasn't heard anything but will follow up and let me know. May 21st - text to find out status. Radio silence. May 25- text for status. Finally get a call back to tell me that the manufacturer he's ordering the doors from rejected the order as he doesn't have credit with them. So the last 2+ weeks of waiting all for nothing. Said he will try other manufactures and Friday i will get a call with either confirmation of new manufacture or he will make them himself. Confirmed to Sisco and he agreed will get the resolution soon and he will stay on top of things. May 28th - The Friday i was supposed to get that update. YUP you guessed it nothing again. June 1st - Text and call both Sisco and cabinet maker for status. Nothing. Nada. ZIP! June 2nd - Texted for status. Cabinet maker I'm assuming just ignoring me now. Called Sisco and texted and finally got an answer that the maker is still trying to find a manufacture. Ya that was not what was discussed. Sisco goes on to tells me i have to be patience for things like this. We're now in June and everything BUT THE DOORS that they threw away in error have been resolved since April. I have an abundance of patience but at this point I'm worn thin. I'll update this review again as this saga continues but to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. read more

Don't use their service. Their overstated invoice will go against your annual home insurance cap and limit your future claim amounts. This is one of the most unethical business I have encountered. There is ISSUE in EVERY step since signing contract to schedule to field work to invoice. However, I will highlight on field service and invoice. First, the statement of work (another name for invoice) is overstated in every line. Oscar/Robert worked on this. We had one wall with insulation but they charged for all wall for insulation removal. They barely covered with protected paper but they will blowed up multiple times. They took trash from somewhere else and put at our house, then charged us for full amount hauling. They charged rental fees as much as a new air scrubber but they didn't change the filter for us. It was full of dust. These are highlights, not everything. Before posting this, I have reached out to them for their justification. They doged all my questions. I have no choice to post for future customers. Second, their field service team had to demo wet drywall in 2 parts. The 2nd part (major one) didn't get done until 5th day, mold already started to grow. They did not properly contaminate work area which resulted in drywall dust everywhere in our house. They did a terrible job of drywall demo, not clean cut, stud damage, etc. They were trained to say 'insurance will cover that.' Sorry I rather you didn't damage it first cause insurance has cap. This is management issue to hire/train and set up process like this. It's unethical. Don't use their business. read more

Had a leak coming from an upstairs tenant. Got to work with a few different groups during all of this (inspection, drop off, set up, etc.). Jason, Felipe, James, Diego, & Fred were all incredibly sweet and cordial. Which makes all the difference. I hope I don't get flooding again but if I do, having this same crew would be ideal. Only hiccup in the whole process was several down days where nothing was going on and hard for (my landlord) to contact the people in charge to get things moving. I found a water issue in the wall between my 2 bathrooms. AFC came the same day to see the issues and sent a specialist within the hour to check for lead paint and asbestos due to the age of my home. After the result came in the next day, Cisco came to assess the damage and a crew was sent out to dismantle my bathroom. Issac and James were awesome. They were polite, mindful of our situation and cleaned up after themselves. They made it ready for the next step of the reconstruction. Pros: they work fast. Cons: they work FAST. I called AFC as I had water damage in the walls/ceiling above my shower from a unit above my own. I live in condos so my shower was directly below my upstairs neighbor's shower. AFC sent out Fred, who was a great salesman. Promised pre-restoration look, yadda yadda. I had called my insurance company afterwards to file the claim and they were hesitant to have the work get started. By the next day, AFC wanted to get the work started but I hadn't gotten the go-ahead from insurance. However, they showed up regardless to rip into the ceiling. I ended up speaking with Jason who said I should be fine to start the work and he called my insurance. The guys who came to do the work also called Jason, and they put the call on speaker. BIG mistake as I got to hear Jason refer to my hesitance to start the work as "flipping out". Rather rude, but not the workers fault. I finally got the go ahead from my insurance and allowed the workers to start. Cut to two months later: my bathroom is still ripped apart. Definitely dried out, but insurance, ya know? SO they finally approved the work to start, but the AFC guys chipped a tile and my bathtub while ripping out the ceiling. Not a huge deal, right? Fred told me "pre-restoration" look or whatever. I get a call from Cisco, the manager of AFC, trying to tell me the damages were unavoidable, at which point I had to essentially yell at him to do the repairs at no cost since my tile and my tub were both not chipped pre-water damage. So, overall? They definitely dry it out, but maybe they can work on the "mansplaining" managers and respect that taking your time works out better for everyone. read more

My wife discovered a puddle of water under our kitchen sink. Upon further investigation, we found a stained back wall of water and knew we needed to address it. We went through Yelp to look at restoration companies and came across AFC Flood and Fire. I called and spoke with Francisco or "Cisco", the general manager. He was able to come over within 2 hours of my call, a huge highlight because I was in contact with other companies. Cisco has on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and was very considerate given the COVID-19 pandemic. He spent almost 2 hours explaining the process, going over what to expect and educating me. Being a public school teacher, I really appreciated learning about this whole process. What I appreciated the most was how professional, straightforward, and patient Cisco was. He gave me the information and I felt empowered to make decisions. Cisco also assisted with my phone call to my insurance company. He has been my training wheels, if you wheel, through this whole process. The next day, Felipe and Isaac came over to prep the kitchen and put up protective plastic barriers to make a rectangular area to work in. Both Felipe and Isaac were friendly, hard working and professional. They also wore PPE. That day and the following day, I communicated with Cisco several times and he was very good at calling back and checking in with me. We chatted and we decided that in two days his crew would come and take out the affected areas. I made it known to him that our situation wasn't an emergency and he appreciated that because they all have many other jobs to manage, some more pressing than mine. Nonetheless he still honored my "place in line" wanted to get his crew out, so he scheduled me for two days later. Jason and Felipe arrived on time and were very thorough in removing the affected areas. In speaking with Jason he was very courteous and professional in how he conducted himself and explained things to me. He and Felipe worked very hard and wore their PPE. Both of them were very polite and were open to answering my questions. Cisco, Jason, Felipe and Isaac have alleviated so much worry and stress, because I felt educated as they explained things, felt important as they kept me in the loop and contacted me and felt confident that I was working with a company that knows their business. Currently, the job is underway as the fans need to dry out the affected area for 3-5 more days.
