Tom and his guys are the sweetest, most thoughtful movers we have ever experienced. We previously had gotten scammed by a moving company that stole our deposit and tried to sell our move to a fake company, so we had to find new movers with only TWO DAYS notice! Tom answered the phone and instantly I knew I could trust him. They arrived on time, and were incredibly thoughtful and careful with all our belongings. They wrapped everything securely and had great communication throughout the move! We also had a couch we added to the move last minute (the day of) and his crew took care of it no problem. We lived in an apartment on the FIFTH FLOOR, and Tom and his crew were able to bring the huge couch down the very small, tight staircase and maneuver it through very small tight hallways without ever damaging it! It was also raining outside! Tom and his crew were thoughtful enough to know that any water on cardboard boxes that would be in storage for months like ours would lead to a lot of problems, so they trapped EVERYTHING before walking outside to avoid even one droplet of water getting on our items! On top of all of this, the storage unit we were supposed to bring all this to was CLOSED when we arrived. Tom you as so kind and didn't charge us extra for holding our things over night. Which brings me to my final point... These guys prices are UNBEATABLE. They are willing to negotiate with you and give extremely fair prices for such hard work. These guys are the best. I recommend them to anyone that is looking to move their apartment, home, etc. They can move anything, anywhere, in any environment and be a total pleasure to be around the entire time. I hired them a week in adavace. Tom (owner) quoted a reasonable price, and I was ecstatic and consented. He collected my contact for confirmation purposes, so I presumed. Tom made a good impression, and he seemed very nice. I was in a rush to move, so I didn't thoroughly review Affordable Angels. Unwisely, I booked a truck for this Saturday. After, the call I thought it was odd that I never recieved any confirmation, and I started to get anxious. A few days past, I called Tom, and he confirmed that I was scheduled. However, he kept changing when he would be arriving (3-4, 5-7, etc.) I was only moving one room with a few things, which would have taken him no more than an hour and half tops. Plus, I was only moving 3 miles away. So I still I don't understand why I didn't get a straight answer. But I didn't really think much of it then until Saturday came. On Saturday, he called a couple of hours ahead to confirm yet another window (2-5:30). He sounded confused again which made me extremely nervous, but his 'nice' tone made the exhausting experience a little smoother. However, I had a bad feeling about how it would end. No suprise, he never showed or called to explain. I was seething with rage. I didn't read the reviews on here until after I realized he was never showing up. In retrospective, I should have been more careful and followed up more, but Tom doesn't respect his customers. Period. Essentially, I should have never relied on him at all. Honestly, after reading the reviews here, I'm glad he ghosted me. I ended up booking with Seven Moving, and they were great! I moved that same night with 0 issues - they were timely, efficient, friendly, and professional. BONUS they were far more cheaper ($360 vs. $250) I won Needless to say, but I recommend Seven Moving. I called Affordable Angels looking for exactly that kind of help moving a newly delivered daybed that I had managed to wedge into my entry stairwell. Not only did this defeat the purpose of offering extra sleeping for my incoming houseguests but completely blocked the entry to our home! New to the area, without trusted referral sources and in a "Hail Mary" situation, I started making desperate calls...Business owner, Tom was professional and reassuring from the get-go. He showed up on time, same day, after-hours to accommodate my work schedule. He took one look and new just how to maneuver the extremely oversized and unmalleable piece up our narrow, curving staircase. Tom patiently coached me, and my son (exhausted from hours of prior attempts) literally step-by-step. This saved me the cost of a second mover! He was honest in his assessment that the piece would not fit up the second stairway to the top floor, but he kindly tried anyway. To top it off, Tom helped move the piece to several locations until we found one that I could compromise on. I REALLY wanted to be able to write a more positive review for this company, but in good consciousness can't. Pros: Tom (owner) at first seemed GREAT. Affordable pricing for 9/1 and flexibility when I wanted to swap dated a week out. The price was extremely reasonable for the time of year. Day of, the movers did show up, and they were great. The communication before and hand promptness of it all however, not so much... Cons: I must have called Tom 20x trying to firm up plans, get him a deposit, get a written confirmation, and on the day of - trying to make sure he was even coming at all. Each time he was extremely confused, said he would call me back later, or asked me to call back after 9pm when he was home and in front of his information, etc... It was a nightmare. The day of the move, Tom kept pushing back the time and telling me he'd call me back (I had to call him repeatedly), the crew showed up at 5pm when they were supposed to come late morning. Moral of the story: I think Tom is a nice guy, trying to run a business on his own and is in over his head. He means well, but if organization and promptness are important for you - you won't find much, if any piece of mind with this company. read more

Tom was awesome. I can not recommend his services enough. He helped me move something from a friend's house and bring it to a shipping facility. The shipper messed up and Tom had to store the item over the weekend and try another shipper. He was easy-going, accommodating, and responsive throughout this ordeal. I am so lucky that I chose to work with Tom because I'm sure another mover would have just given up after the first attempt. I have moved three times in Boston over the past three years and this is by far the CHEAPEST moving company I have ever used. The move itself was the most pleasant I have ever experienced. The moving guys were SO FUN to be around! My new roommates yesterday, after having moved in asked, "were those your friends?" haha! They were incredibly hardworking, went out of their way to offer assistance for things I needed help with, but wasn't part of their job, and they had an overall great attitude! Tom (and company) was incredibly helpful during a very emotional move. He handled all the items to be moved as if they were priceless. His sensitivity to the situation was beyond anything I could have hoped for. We had an excellent moving experience from one apartment in Cambridge, MA to another on June 1st with the help of Tom and his team. We were unable to get into the new apartment the move out day so Tom stored the furniture overnight and delivered in on time and in good condition on the next day. He also went out of his way to install our window air conditioner late in the evening after the move was completed. I had a last minute move to complete and Tom and his team took on my request in no time. They called when they said they would, they showed up on time, and they picked up and dropped off all of my belongings efficiently and carefully. They had a truck plenty large to accommodate my things, and they gave both me and my partner a ride to our destination without thinking twice. Affordable Angels is a great moving company! They were there for my family when we were in a pinch and needed a quick move. In my experience, Affordable Angels were on-time, courteous, respectful and careful not to damage anything. They went the extra mile and made sure the job was complete before leaving, unlike many movers. The crew works fast, very fast, but at the same time very carful and precise. The owner Tom, who booked the job is great- answers all of my questions and took the time to communicate with me and my family as well as his crew. I hired Affordable Angels for a move on 8/30/2011 and while Tom was mostly ... pleasant, here are some pros and cons: - Some of the time, the movers were on the phone, taking breaks (smoke, gas, etc.) and were still on the clock i.e., they were still charging me - they showed up late (I asked for 9am, Tom didn't call until 9:15 saying he would be there around 9:30 as they had an earlier move) - Tom was arranging deals with other customers (I understand that's the nature of the business), but at least do my job well first. - poor organization: they arranged their truck really poorly, taking in small things first and the biggest things last, when pros would do the opposite. They did this TWICE. - they ended up not being able to move all my stuff - they did not carry insurance and could not provide certificate of insurance though I asked for it twice - they took a lot of breaks (including smoke breaks and phone breaks) which were still "on the clock" and I could not track them down several times - they weren't cheap (around September 1st, they were at least $120 per hour) - they broke a number of items while moving (glasswear) or scratched a number of pieces of furniture: cracked, scratched, dirty entertainment center; cracked, feet chipped, one knob bent on dresser; wheel broken - desk chair; one Ikea Billy top - cracked; 3 Lenox wine glasses broken; one Lenox martini glass broken; dinged hutch; significant dings on dining room table, 1 cup missing - they did not take direction well or listen to my direction - to make it worse, Tom did not return my calls/emails about requesting either refund or replacement So, all in all, I say, caveat emptor... buyer beware. (I will happily edit this review if Tom refunds/pays me for damaged items.) Note: Tom made a comment but didn't return my message to refund me. read more

I used Affordable Angels to have an antique couch hoisted through a window up to my 5th floor apartment...which looked impossible. Not only did they do it, they did it without any damage to my couch or my apartment. They spent a lot of time making sure that my couch was wrapped properly to protect it for the hoist.
