Like many I was assigned this company through my home warranty company. The technician came out and recommended some replacement parts. After they left it was impossible to get in contact with them. Had to call the HWC multiple times in order to get any information. AAR received parts but waited two additional weeks for a part for another appliance. When all parts were available they installed parts but items were still inoperable. Tech left but didn't give me any information on repairs. I had to call HWC multiple times in order to get updates and still don't have any updates. They also lied ( Jacob) and said we damaged our refrigerator. I cannot recommend avoiding this company more. So basically what they do is tell the company that hired them in the first place to come out and fix your appliances that they "completed" the job so they can get paid and lie to us (the customer), then never answer. I'm sure they actually order the parts as well, they just end up keeping them to reuse since it doesn't come out of their pocket and/or they resale them! If I could give a zero star review, I would! I'm not 100% sure this is the same company that was sent to our home, but it sounds like the exact situation like all the others have experienced. Kevin was supposed have parts sent to us. We never received them. Kept trying to reach him for weeks. My husband used to work in this line of work and said that he had probably told the company that sent him to us that the job was completed and that he had received his money from it. First American Home Warranty sent them out after I made a clai to fix ice chute door and hose on the water dispenser on my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. The repair person arrived as scheduled cleaned the coils and left. I contacted First American and the excuse was that I had not break it down to each item that needed to be done. OK submitted a second claim and specified ice chute door and water dispenser hose. The repairman attached a type of bracket to hold the door down and did not fix the hose. I contacted First American and told them they had not completed the repair. The repairman had said it was normal wear and tear which is not covered. Of course. Two visits at $75 each and no repair. I am not renewing the contract with First American. read more

Terrible! Fidelity home warranty sent Affordable Appliance Repair to fix my dishwasher. Came out, had to order parts, came back and replaced 2 parts. Dishwasher still did not work. Tried to call them 18 times! 18 times! No return phone call, no one ever answers the phone. Called Fidelity. They told them to contact me to fix the problem. They just showed up at my door without appointment when I was on my way out. Told repair guy I was upset I called so many times and no answer or return call. Told him you can not just show up whenever you want. Repair guy got offended because he said his sister answers the phone. Then he told Fidelity he did not know how to fix the dishwasher to assign it to someone else. Terrible with a capital T! I would give it zero stars if I could. NON RESPONSIVE. We had an appliance stop working and called the manufacturer as it is still under warranty. They scheduled Affordable Appliance Repair to come out and look. Guy called when on his way to the house and I told him what the issue was and the error code. He said he knew exactly what it was an would order the part. He said it could take a month because manufacturer issues and to call them to expedite. That was the last we heard from him. We tried by text, phone, and through the manufacturer for two weeks. After multiple tries through the manufacturer, they finally got a hold of him early in the morning around 9AM and he said (paraphrasing) "I'm not in the office and already done for the day. I can check tomorrow". The manufacturer is also taking note of this issue with and hopefully removes them from their list of repair services. read more

Mt experience is just like many listed here. AA was assigned to me through a home warranty service. They NEVER answer telephone calls or even respond to the text messages they request. Came out and made an initial repair, then told company they had completed the job. Never responded to multiple calls over a series of days. Affordable Appliance was hired by a warranty company that I have to come repair the icemaker on my refrigerator. An hour or so after the repair and after the repair man had left, the refrigerator completely went out. Tried calling affordable appliance that day as well as the next (a Friday) and did not receive a return call until Monday. Unfortunately, all food in the fridge was ruined by that time. Once I did receive a return call, I was told that I'd have to open another ticket with the warranty company to have AA come back out to inspect the damage. What???!!! A company so indebted to another company that they don't even attempt to stand behind their work. I'll pass on Affordable Appliance, going forward. They ended up costing me more money. read more

They came out 21 days ago said they needed a part and I haven't heard from them since. I've tried to call them but cannot get them on the phone. I called our warranty company who couldn't get them either. Fidelity had to call the owner of the company who assured Fidelity they'd take care of it. NOT! BTW lest you think the part is back ordered I found the replacement part in stock on Amazon as well as 2 appliance parts suppliers After 5 calls to Fidelity I had to insist they change vendors. Jessica is the receptionist, or one of the receptionists and lord help you if she's the one who answers the phone. She is extremely defensive an not receptive to any point of view besides her own. My wife was talking with her and my wife simply asked to put her on speaker so we can all talk together and she frantically replied, "I'm not getting yelled at by your husband!" I ended up talking with her anyways and me, the customer had to calm her down, in order to continue the conversation. She then tried to get me off the phone quicker with "I'm trying to get out of here I have to pick up my kids from school." 100% not a good look for customer service. Our actual issue with the this business was what the technician told us on during their visit is not what was filed in the report. We asked Jessica to if we could have a copy of the report, and she said the Home Warranty company would provide it. We informed her First American said they had to provide it, and she replied sharply that she has been working with a First American Home Warranty company for over 20 years and what we were saying just wasn't true. I already filed a complaint with First American but wanted to post this for any unsuspecting customers thinking about calling in. read more

My only experience was with the "manager" or girl claiming to be the manager who called to set up an appointment that was called in by my home warranty. She was the most rude person I have ever spoken to. She wouldn't listen to anything I was trying to tell her and then hung up on me while I was talking. Needless to swe I cancelled the appt. I will be asking them never to use this company again. I also asked to speak with her boss to let the poor guy know who was representing him. BAD BUSINESS. Highly recommend this business. It is a family owed, and once you are a customer you become part of their family. I was highly frustrated with my dishwasher not working correctly. I had another company look at it 2 months ago and they could never fix the problem. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. I called Affordable Appliance, the office manager was so nice and knowledgeable. She assured me they would correct the problem. She sent her baby brother out and he was able to use his expertise to diagnose the situation. I have no qualms and using them again. Five stars all the way. read more

I have First American Home Warranty, this is the company they have sent out for my appliance claims, other than the oven I have found it beneficial to simply cash out and use the warranty funds to replace my units on my own; I get the units replaced and installed the same day i am told the unit can't be repaired and will need to be replaced. It is virtually impossible to get anyone at Affordable Appliance to return a call or answer the phone at anytime of the business day, the only way to get them to call is to complain to the warranty company so the warranty company can contact them through their messaging arrangement and generally Jessica will call because the warranty company contacted her. From a communications perspective this is the worst company I have ever dealt with regarding communication. Regarding the oven replacement, everything went smoothly and I never needed to contact them or follow up; inspection, reported to First American, oven ordered Affordable replaced the oven, all within a 10-day period of time. Because they never answer the phones, I would never be able to use them for an issue in which I am a paying customer and would need to contact someone else who actually wants the business from the consuming public; it appears that Affordable only does work for warranty companies and is not in business to serve the general public. That's just a personal observation after having them service four claims through First American. I have found that I am able to find comparable units at prices competitive to the cash out and I get my replacements installed the same day so lack of the appliance's service is reduced to a minimum and because I charge the unit on my credit card I get a 30-day float of the funds that is reimbursed by First American before my next billing cycle so I am never out of pocket personal funds and have immediate use of the replacement unit. Good luck to you all that stick it out and wait for communications from either the warranty company or their selected vendors; I prefer to avoid the friction and aggravations. read more

Affordable appliabce Repair was awesome. Be sure to add the name repair in the name of their business cuz a different co. without "repair" in the name is NOT good. My insurance had sent a different repair company out to me FOUR times which WERE LOUZY. I was without my DW & no water in my kitchen throughout my whole Christmas season. It was my insurance company's fault for sending someone other than Affordable. When Affordable came out they IMMEDIATELY knew what the problem was & fixed it. JACOB was excellent, a gentleman, (unlike the guy my warranty ins. Company kept sending out previously). Also Jessica on the phone at affordable was EXCELLENT. If you see any bad ratings for this company, it's gotta be because people are taking out their anger on the wrong people. Often the warranty insurance company is too cheap to approve the parts & work that a good repair company requires to do the job. I'm canceling my warranty company to choose another. This company is a scam. They are a contractor with 2 10 home buyers warranty. They come out take $75 from you lie to you that they will order parts then disappear. When you can't reach them and call the warranty people they tell you they will not cover what is needed. Affordable appliance will tell you what is wrong and what part they need. But then they fill out a work order to the warranty company with a totally different diagnosis that is excluded on your warranty. I just had a GREAT experience with them. I was concerned when I read other reviews but my Home Warranty Company uses them and I had no choice. I am relieved that they came out right away... looked at my refrigerator and immediately knew the problem was the auto-defroster wasn't kicking in. They did have to order the part but he told me how to make or keep the refrigerator "useful" until the part came it. He gave good advice... the part came in quickly and they called but I was out and didn't check my messages until 2 days later. (I'm retired). Do not use this company. Our home warranty sent them to us for our Kenmore Elite refrigerator and the tech (jn an unmarked car) was here all of 5 minutes, said he needed to order a part from South Korea. It took a month to get the part and it still did not fix the problem. The tech never stuck around to make sure it was working. I contacted a reputable appliance repair company from Angie's list, and he was able to quickly determine it was the compressor that needed to be replaced. He said the fridge was under warranty and to contact Sears as no one else is authorized to service Kenmore's. Called Sears and had it fixed in 2 days. Affordable A/R never answers the phone and takes hours to return texts. I reported them to the Home Warranty and they said that is the only company they have in San Antonio. Makes sense, that way they never have to pay for repairs, since they use a fly by night company. Frauds and scamsters all. They should be ashamed but in Trump's world it is acceptable to con, lie and scam people out of their money. read more

Stay away from this company. Home warranty sent Artie with Affordable Appliance out. First of all, he came into my home without a mask. He was rude and when I asked if he found the issue he simply said "yes, I have to order parts" that was on October 16, 2020. I finally heard from the home warranty company indicating that the parts were scheduled to arrive on November 11, 2020. On November 18th, i tried contacting Affordable Applicance by text and at office. Phone is no longer in service. I contacted home warranty again and they called a secondary phone number for this place and finally made contact. Jessica (receptionist) informed the home warranty representative that this was a pre existing condition and they would not be ordering parts. The rep came back on the line and told me that this made no sense to her since they had previously submitted a request and received approval to order parts and complete repair. It appears that they just never ordered parts and decided they did not want this particular job. Do not give your business to this company! read more

Cannot recommend We had used Affordable Appliance Repair through our home warranty insurance on two previous occasions and were reasonably happy with their service then, so we decided to call them out on our own dime when our dryer stopped heating. BIG MISTAKE! It took them three days to come out and look at the dryer after I already had given them the model number and details over the phone. Ernie confirmed that we needed a new heating element, said it would take a few days to order it. He called back after a WEEK to confirm the model number (that I had given them over the phone when I first called them out!), saying he can't find the part on the Sears website...after a further week and the Thanksgiving Holidays he calls again, just to tell me he will have to refund my deposit because he cannot source the part! He could not even provide me with the part number, as he had never bothered to look it up in 2 weeks. I then went online, looked for the part and ordered it myself. This took all of 10 minutes. The heating element was delivered within 3 days and I and my husband installed it ourselves that evening with the help of a You Tube video. To add to the insult, Affordable Appliances retained part of my deposit for the "service" call. read more

Horrible, horrible company. They were sent out by 1st American Home Warranty because my dishwasher isn't working. He "diagnosed" (I use that term loosely) that it needed a new water pump. I told him that the water worked fine, with a full spray. No dishes were clean, and if a coffee cup dripped coffee on the door when placing in the dishwasher, the cup and the door were still dirty after running a full cycle. Didn't matter. He returns (he said with the new part, but I question that). In any event, after he left, there was NO CHANGE in the operation, still did not clean dishes. 1st American sent him out again the following week. He told me that my problem was I wasn't washing the dishes first. He said it is a SANITIZER and the dishes should go in clean. Idiot. He raised his voice at me and said that everyone knows dishwashers are NOT to wash dishes but only to sanitize them. I reminded him that it is called a dishWASHER, not dish SANITIZER. He said that there was nothing he could do if I chose to not clean them in advance, that I was at fault, the appliance was fine. He is still first on the list when you call 1st American Home Warranty. Save yourself some grief and just use your $75 toward a competent company. BTW, the 2nd company on their list (out of Boerne) has worse reviews than this guy. read more

I called on Friday to report problems with my freezer. Got a call back and an appointment between 9 and 10 Saturday morning. He was here and gone by 9:15, less than $30 for the service call. Diagnosed the problem as a failing compressor. Quoted $400 for repair and recommended replacing the unit. I am one HAPPY Affordable Appliance customer since today I am STILL waiting on Lowe's to deliver the replacement freezer and they were supposed to be here between 8 and 12! read more
