Jonathan came by was very friendly, and immediately figured out that the motherboard went on the dishwasher. He called it back to dispatch and they looked up the part, and told me the cost and how long it would take to ship...Big surprise the part was on back order and there was no timeline. Because of the immediate response I was able to make an important decision to buy a new dishwasher. J's also installed my new dishwasher and took out my old one. A credit to their customer service I had a dishwasher scheduled to be delivered on a Thursday, and I requested an appointment for a Friday. J's could not do the Friday but said as soon as the dishwasher comes in on Thursday call us and Jonathan will come by to install it. The text I received indicated that yes, Mr. Ortega does work on that unit, and a service call was scheduled two days hence. As it turns out, Hugo Ortega did not appear for the service call, but rather his son Tim. It seems that the father, Hugo, tends to work primarily on washer/dryer, and Tim deals with refrigerators and dishwashers. (They are both able to work on any of the appliances, but they have their particular interests, according to Tim). Personable and polite, Tim went through his diagnostics, explaining as he proceeded, and determined that the problem was the ice maker's motor. And.. he has a Kitchenaid ice maker on his truck. But here is where it gets a bit interesting. It seems that the icemakers on this brand can be different: some sit on the side of the freezer, some sit in the center of the freezer...and one is not an exact "bolt In" for the other. He stocked the side fitting unit, and I have the centrally sitting unit. So what Tim did was dismantle his unit, and used the parts to fit on the chassis of my unit. As he nimbly disassembled and reassembled the units, I was reminded of a scene in "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly", in which Tuco takes apart several revolvers, and knew which parts would fit the chassis of his new revolver. WOW. DOUBLE WOW! With the unit now working as new...which essentially it was...I realized this young man definitely knows his refrigerators!! But the story gets better. I asked if he works on Jennair Downdraft glass stove tops, as one of my burners was not working. He doesn't really service these units, but he went through an online parts manual, and given the symptoms I described, he told of three possible defects...and he listed the parts numbers and the suggested prices for the parts. I was pretty impressed with his efforts for an appliance he doesn't work on! So can I recommend the Ortegas for appliance repair? Definitely! They are my "go to" repairmen now!! Good Luck Yelpers

He showed up on time and is a very personable guy. Jack quickly diagnosed the problem with the dishwasher (was not draining after a cleaning cycle) as caused by improper installation of a garbage disposal by my tenants. The problem was fixed without the need of any additional parts; just needed to correct the garbage disposal issue. Then I asked Jack to take a look at my oven door as it was not closing/seating all the way shut. After removing the door there was the possibility the oven door needed new hinges. After reinstalling the door, the problem was fixed as the issue seemingly was simply misaligned hinges. I found Jack to be refreshingly knowledgeable and professional. And his fees are more than reasonable for the services rendered. These days it is a challenge to find competent, professional and honest contractors. But EcoFix is all of the good traits that customers are looking for when searching for contractors. I cannot recommend EcoFix more highly.
