I needed to put in a radon vent so I called affordable radon. I spoke with Cody, who was super helpful explaining everything. I thought he was very honest also with the price. They were right in the middle of what you would google the price should be. Cody said he had an opening the next day between 9am-11am. The crew called me at 9:30 to say they were 10 minutes away. Well it's another year later and our system still doesnt work. They have been here over 12 times. Today they said they would install a pipe thru a wall and then down thru floor. Came here today and the owner refused to do any work. Said it was my fault somehow even though todays work would have been exactly what he said it needed over a year ago and was exactly what he said he would come do prior to getting here. This company should not be trusted at all. We have endure over 2 years and a dozen trip and the system still doesnt work. Stay away from this company. They are dishonest. read more

I called to get a quote on a system about a week ago, as Affordable Radon Services was recommended to me by a friend. They sent me a quote within minutes, with the stipulation that if I didn't like their plan on install day I could walk away, no questions asked. I called to get a new radon fan as the old one was making a lot of noise. Their quote for a new fan was the lowest I had gotten. When the tech opened up the old fan, he observed that the blades were dirty. Rather than simply replacing the old fan, he cleaned the blades, which made the fan run quietly again! There's some scary stuff in many people's basements and if you believe in "science", radon is a leading cause of cancer. Needless to say, you don't want that stuff in your house. I found Affordable Radon through a Yelp RAQ. The team responded via phone in about 30 minutes of my online inquiry. They were able to schedule the job in less than a week, even with snowy spring weather. Having a radon mitigation system on the side of your house ain't sexy looking, but it makes me rest easier at night. Getting sleep and not having cancer is way sexier too, IMHO. Minus one star for the bookkeeping/collections person who incessantly followed up, even though we'd paid in full on the day of service. It took several phone calls and emails back and forth for her to realize that my partner (with a different name) had written a check to cover the cost. She actually admitted that she didn't know what job/account his check was for and kept calling me to say I owed money. There's more than one "team" performing installations; some whom cut corners, and other's that seem to know what they're doing. I strongly suggest knowing actual Radon installation "Code regulations" Nationally, as well as checking Affordable Radon's boasted certification credentials. As always, do your research before hand to avoid potential problems, and then inspect the job after completion. Since multiple different teams perform work, unless you personally are Radon mitigation certified, consider hiring an outside Nationally recognized independent Radon consultant to inspect your job's completed work. Radon being the number two leading cause of lung cancer, ask to perform running two charcoal tests at the same time after your installation, and average the readings. (This is especially important in the event something goes wrong with the one charcoal reader.) read more

Difficult to find fault with amazing quality, customer service, and speed. My wife and I are preparing to finish our basement and should we ever have to sell our home we did not want someone paranoid about radon to require us to add a system after the fact. Called Tyson and his two guys came prepared and right on time. They went right to work, removed their shoes in our home every time, and installed our mitigation system in less than 4 hours. That includes painting the exterior piping to match our home! (I supplied the paint) I cannot say enough positive accolades for this company. The saying goes 'You get what you pay for," while that is certainly the case in most every industry, in radon mitigation you can save some money (we saved about $275 versus the nearest competitor) and the quality of the installation was outstanding. Comes with a 30 yr warranty on the install and the fan itself, the only moving part, has a 7 yr warranty. For those, like me that watched a bunch of YouTube videos on mitigation installs, these guys were able to remove about 15 gallons of soil (soil was moist or it would have likely been 20) and the system, including our sump, are completely sealed with appropriate caulk and PVC cement. Also were able to place our system in the ideal location with no issues. Just amazing how clean the install was in such a short period of time. To follow Angel's lead: Our home is a 3000 sq ft two story with a 1000 sq ft basement. Radon level started at 6 (12/15/13). Will see in a few weeks what they have dropped to...UPDATE (2/15/13) Levels are now 1.9 which is excellent and the exterior equipment has shown no issues with our recent well below zero snaps and high winds.
