When I brought it back in for them to fix the transmission fluid leak, they told me it wasn't covered under warranty because the hose was attached to the radiator. When I asked him if he was stupid because it was leaking radiator fluid, he didn't wanted to fight me and took a shirt off like a little girl. I also guarantee you, the majority of those cars on his lots are taking via mechanic liens in crooked ways. +90% of the reviews I see have to be bots because this place is a joke. Do not believe the website. It states free transmission diagnostic all over the website, but after the diagnostic is done, they charge you $75. I can't comment on the quality of service, because we could not afford almost $4000 to replace the clutch in a 10 year old car. The person I talked to also wasn't very pleasant. Todd, my wife and me had several problems with our vehicle over months and months , moving to California and leaving our car in Raleigh NC . So I took my 2006 explorer to have the transmission fluid checked along with a diagnosis of the transmission. I already had a couple of ideas of what might be wrong with it and this is why I wanted the transmission fluid checked. When I went to pick up my explorer, they told me it needed a torque converter but couldn't tell me the fluid level. Although, they did say they would need 500 dollars before they could work on it. So it's obvious that they didn't even check the fluid because they couldn't tell me the level. CONS. Thats when I drove it to the other side of Winston-Salem to a place I knew and they checked the fluid for me. It was about 3 quarts low due to a leak from the radiator. It's just thr way that the 06 explorer was built to be able to cool the transmission. The idiots did offer to buy my Eddie Bauer 4x4, that's in good condition, for 500 dollars though. CONS. This place is extremely unprofessional and lies. We took our car there to do a transmission fix. They worked on the car in a somewhat timely manner and we were happy. Weeks later, the check engine light came on. We took it back and they assured us they knew how to fix the problem. The car sat on their lot for a week. No one looked at it so we took it home. We dropped that car off at least 2 or 3 more times based on their promise. Nothing happened. Each time we went there, money was spent on an Uber to get home. A week or two later, we were promised the car would be looked at. We took it there early morning and waited in the area this time. Towards close of business, they tell us it hasn't been looked at. We wasted a day on this. No apology, no explanation, and no sense of urgency. Just several lies. I have NEVER experienced this level of unprofessional behavior and disrespect from a mechanic shop. So around a year ago my 73 year old Father took his 2003 Cadillac deville DTS to get a Clutch sensor repaired first the quoted $700 then it went up to $1200 for the repair , Then I thought everything was fine the car was only used for a little over 500 miles not even within a year time. I took my 2016 Ford Escape in around thanksgiving to be looked at . They told me it was the transmission after having it for a month. My quote went from 1250 to 3750 . Me being 9 months pregnant I said F it and had him fix it since I don't have time to waste and he already took a month to diagnose it . I finally get the car back after Christmas and it sounds like shit and is blowing smoke out of the exhaust when I start it . Today 1/14/2020 the transmission started slipping and not running right again . I'm due to have my baby any day now and have to deal with this stress of taking it back in to get looked at again . I don't have time for this . I should be getting ready for the arrival of my son and I have to deal with this. I got a warranty on it for 12000 miles but it's only good for this place . We purchased a transmission rebuild here. We were also sold a warranty. Apparently the business was sold to a new owner 4 months later. New owner took money from us multiple times to perform warranty related service knowing he had NO plans to honor the warranty. He knowingly chose to withhold information from us to force us to continue to have aforementioned service performed. He also claims to have performed 2 courtesy checks in relation to the warranty. However, 4 days after performing said check, and assuring us the vehicle was 100% safe to drive our family around in, the transmission suffered CATASTROPHIC failure with myself and 5 children in it, putting our safety at great risk. It is physically impossible that a company specializing in transmissions and advertising hundred point checks to locate issues would find zero indicator of such an enormous issue. Especially after we'd told them about the issue she we were experiencing. It's unquestionably clear that they lied, either about performing the checks, or their findings. This company operates under deceitfulness. Ownership change aside, the product and service is the same as it was through the previous owner. Therefore, they are choosing to stand by a fault product. Quality Rebuilds are designed to last 60k miles, OR MORE. Emphasis on quality. Ours failed at 25k. Affordable Transmission is perfectly comfortable with the knowledge they performed a subpar job, and that's not a business anyone should work with. If they can't take pride in their product and service, then why would they care about how it effects the consumer? read more

CROOKS plain and simple. Was duped into having car towed in. Was told by the owner over the phone, "Why pay to have a diagnostic when I can tell you at no charge? Then, we'll go from there." Told him the problem I was having with car(not going in reverse). Quoted me $1700-2200 over the phone. After more than a week of having the car, the owner calls and says the repair would be $3500. Of course I'm confused at this point. Asked him about initial quote and he caught a sudden case of amnesia. Told him I was coming to pick my car up. Was then told that I couldn't get my car back without paying $850 fee. Really?!?! And that's my car with my transmission in pieces. Asked why the $850 charge and was told because they had to take it apart to find out what was wrong with it. What happened to the free diagnostic?!? So back to square 1 minus $850 for a car with a missing transmission. When I came to Affordable transmission to talk face to face with the owner, he had his workers posted up in the front like bodyguards. Im sure this happens all the time. As you can see, his parking lot is full of vehicles without tags. I'm sure they're cars that used to belong to ppl like myself. It seems he's in the business to racking up free cars, rather than fixing transmissions. Please please please beware. Do not take your car here. I called and was told the owner sold the business, new guy just bought the equipment and phone number, they would not honor the warranty, gave me ZERO help. I really don't have the words to express how bad of an experience I had with Affordable Transmission (AT). The first thing you should do if you are considering taking your car to AT is to figure out what the owner's name is (I'm not putting it here as I'm guessing it will be deleted) and google him. It won't take you long to learn what kind of person and business owner he is. I found the owner to be dishonest, unethical, and incompetent at every turn. There is a website (as of this writing) dedicated to what a dirtbag (DB) he is, so clearly there are others that have had a similar experience to mine. I brought my son's car to AT, only because it was near his work and would be easy for him to coordinate getting to work while his car was in the shop. The car is a 2009 Nissan Versa with a transmission issue that another shop had also identified as a problem, so I'm confident there was a problem with the transmission. AT took the transmission off to diagnose the problem, and told me there was 'significant damage' and that it needed replaced. I talked it through with DB, and after he told me that he found a used transmission with only 9,000 miles on it, I elected to go that route instead of spending a lot more money on a new transmission. DB told me that the transmission was covered under a 90 day warranty, but that the labor associated with the work was not covered. I said OK, and they got a used transmission from LKQ and installed it. I spent $1900 on the used transmission with 9K miles on it. Then, within a week, the clutch began to slip on the car, which had never been an issue prior to DB and AT working on the transmission. I brought it back to AT, and DB said that there was a fluid leak from the rear main seal that was getting on the clutch. I called the mechanic that I had used in previous years (Brown's Alignment - great people) to get a second opinion and they first asked why the rear main seal wasn't replaced when the transmission was since it's a cheap part and is completely duplicative labor to the transmission work. I called DB back and asked him to do the work at a reduced cost due to the duplicative labor issue, and he said that he had installed the transmission 'per my instructions' and that there I had not asked him to install a rear main seal. So DB, the car repair expert, apparently expects me to know when there is duplicative labor on repairs and to tell him when/what to do with a car, even though I'm bringing it to him as the expert. I should've walked away then, but felt like I had a lot of money tied up in AT and wanted to stick it out to make sure I wasn't going to compromise my warranty on the transmission, etc. So, I paid DB another $1100 for a rear main seal and clutch. Then, the clutch immediately began slipping again within a couple days. Seriously. I brought the car back to DB, and DB said there was a slave cylinder leaking. So, he replaced the clutch again and installed the slave cylinder. He did not charge me for this work, as he shouldn't have since he didn't fix the leak or the clutch problem I had just paid him for. So, then the clutch began slipping again within a couple days. Seriously. So, after AT and DB replaced the slave cylinder THREE more times (yes, the definition of insanity) and it did not fix the clutch problem, they sent the car to the dealer to figure out what the problem was since they could not due to their incompetence. The dealer found that the transmission that AT had installed was defective, which was causing the fluid leak and resulting in the clutch issue. So, DB got another used transmission for the dealer to install and paid $200 for a clutch kit for the dealer to install, but wouldn't cover any of the labor for any of the work, even though the leak and the clutch issue were a direct result of DB's incompetence. So, I had to pay the dealer another $1300 to fix the problems that DB couldn't figure out but that I had already paid him for. This was all after DB assured me on numerous occasions that if the dealer found that any of the issues the car was having were a result of mistakes AT had made, that he would 'make it right' and 'take care of me'. In conclusion, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO AFFORDABLE TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND UNETHICAL, AND WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. read more

So I took my show car to them and explained my concerns. Eddie Selmi (partner in T&E Trans Inc with Todd Goodman(former owner and now again current owner) that manages Affordable or A-ffordable Transmission) assured me great care would be taken and my car would be like new when I got it back and would not be damaged. So I decided to leave my car with them. It started out great with them communicating etc. Then they began to avoid my calls to check in since I had not heard from them. 2 weeks later than anticipated I was finally able to pick up my car. Upon driving it on the highway noticed there was no overdrive. Since the shop was closed I had to bring it back another day. After finally figuring out a time that worked, they took my car back in. They did fix the issue, but now I got it back with a shift issue from 2nd to 3rd. I was told it was nothing and to wait for break in period. So I did, issue still present when I brought it in. When I went to pick it up I was told it needed cables that were supposed to be replaced with the original rebuild and were on the list I left. To my dismay this was not done and now their excuse to my issue. I was told to purchase the cables on my own and bring them into them (2 needed) and they would put them in on a Saturday. After waiting several weeks for them to have time/space, I took my vehicle down to them and they explained they had no time that day and I should come back the following week. I called to verify on Thursday and got met with the shop will be closed because no one is available to work. FF a few months of this and being reassured it will get done not to worry, I lose 3rd gear altogether. Now owners have changed again (back to Todd Good man who is still a partner in the management co T&E Trans Inc) and he refuses to do the work without another $1500 to rebuild it again. After paying $2800 this was not a solution and definately not one I was willing to agree to. Since all the same misfits are out in the shop, why would I trust this rebuild to go right after what happen the 1st time? And to pay again? I should have known better the day I left my car to trust my gut over someone's word. After only getting 1600 miles out of the transmission due being afraid to take my car on a long trip as I once did, it now sits in the garage waiting for me to have the money to have it rebuilt by another shop for much less than my initial $2800. I will never use this shop again and will run from any other shop if I see anyone from this shop working there. I went to affordable transmission because they said it would be $1,800 to rebuild my transmission and I had a coupon , it ended up costing me $2,400 and they did not take my coupon. Two weeks later the torque convertor went out. The first time it was a 10 day wait the second time it was about two weeks to fix it , said they were waiting for a lift , really after I had already paid them? When I picked it up and it still didn't sound right. I told the lady and she said I don't know what to tell you we sold the bussiness!!! I'm not sure if they did or she was just lieing to me. I recently took my husband's truck to Affordable Transmission to get the front shocks replaced. He had taken the truck to get an alignment done at another shop and they had quoted him an outrageous price to replace them. Affordable Transmission was able to get the shocks replaced for a fraction of the cost and the best part was I took the truck in on a busy Saturday and they were able to get me in and out of there in no time.
