I had a flood in my rental condo. The HOA recommended Absolute Flood Response and AFR construction. Karen at AFR was the person that coordinated everything. She organized the remediation and reconstruction and also most importantly tirelessly tirelessly tried to communicate with my insurance company (which wasn't easy since they kept changing claim reps and didn't return calls). On the Reconstruction side Manny and Josh were great. They called me everyday when they were on their way and at the end of the day with the progress report. Y'all charge $250 for a bid?! That's ridiculous, what happens if you are wildly over or under the mark? You get paid to over bid? Might as well shoot for the stars everytime right? Very nice staff over the phone I will say that but nobody pays to bid a job. That's just part of it. Bid appropriately and win the job. Require silly stuff like paying to quote and get bad reviews like this. BOOO AFR. do Better! Update after reply from business owner: I've hired many commercial contractors throughout my career. It's really very simple, qualify the job, give fair bids, win more jobs. Then you don't have to charge for bids which inadvertently creates an actual incentive to over bid. The very basic cost of the company providing a bid is the only hope the client has that the bid will be fair as it's supposed to be in fair competition with others that do not charge for a bid. Can't lock in a clients with a fee in today's world. Otherwise you charge, over bid and keep the $250 time and time again. Charging for bids alone tells that you are not winning the jobs you are biding so you are attempting to tax potential clients to make up the minuscule difference. That's a backwards practice. To start off, I had a prior contractor who lied about being licensed, bonded, and insured. I contacted AFR as I know their business pretty well as I have worked for a prior business in the past that used their services for restoration services as well as Construction. I made an appointment and they waived the initial fee to come out to my home to give a basic estimate. Louie arrived and laughed and apologized, but I get why he laughed cause the prior contractor who lied really messed me and my wife's kitchen and bathroom up. Needless to say we used them to redo the Crown molding and toe kicks from the past Contractors mess ups. When we agreed to use their business, the LICENSED PRO observed all of my cabinets not mounted with the correct screws, what he found and saw were thin like stapes hold them up along with the crown molding. They had to stop working and get the cabinets mounted correctly, so the bill went up more, but they caught it before 3 other businesses that came out. Once the work was finished Louie highly suggested to replace the entire kitchen from scratch. I agree with Louise 100% and over, but everything like I explained to him is going through an Attorney and a Legal route, so it isn't like I have 20k to drop on another kitchen like I almost spent. read more

Our refrigerator had a leak which caused a great deal of water damage. They took great care of us. Karen in the office worked with the insurance company and we were able to get the damage covered. We had to get all new flooring and we had to have everything packed up and placed in 2 pods. The people who did that were very careful with our items. Nothing was broken. They came and picked up the boxes once we unpacked them. The quality of the job was fantastic. Painting, new flooring, baseboards...tile work around the fireplace. They always called with an ETA and we're very polite. Raub, our project manager was great to work with and I would definitely work with him again. Hopefully we won't have further problems but in the event we do, I know where to go! read more

We were first introduced to this company when our solar installers drilled through our roof and we had massive leaks in 3 rooms. The solar company hired them to come in, do asbestos and mold testing and mitigation, then completely repair all the ceilings. Their work was spot on, very professional, and went above and beyond. When I called AFR, Jovany was expedient in sending out a tech the same day I called regarding water damage due to my broken water heater. He was very polite, kind and assured me someone will out within 60-90 min. and just like clockwork, an hour later help arrived. When the Tech(s), Tristan and his manager Juan arrived they took time to assess the damage that was seen and what needed to be assessed that was not seen. They were very thorough, respectful, kind and very patient in explaining the steps needed to be taken now and soon after. Tristan was very patient and thorough as he helped me walk through the claims process. Then William and Dominic came to start the cleaning process and along with Tristan they were the most hard working young men I have ever dealt with. Their expertise and knowledge eased my concerns and answered many of my questions. They all worked very hard, were very respectful not only to me but also of how they treated my possessions. I can not say firmly enough, STAY AWAY! They will assure you that they will take care of everything with the insurance company, over charge and upcharge for everything! and then when the insurance company disputes the charges and doesn't pay it they stick you with the bill even after telling you that will not happen. Then after the fact send you the bill, tell you its your fault and refuse to answer any communication to try and resolve, including the managers. With no exaggeration every single employee I spoke with exalted their virtues and how they are on my side and the insurance company is evil but refuse to even talk to the insurance company adjuster or make any attempt work out any differences!
