Let's go through what all this is, but first why the 3.5 rating...the chicken. This is supposed to be fall off the bone that is fresh and stewed in the sauces. Great flavor for sure, but it was very tough. The plastic knife given had trouble cutting it. You want to think fall off the bone meat, this wasn't it. Not sure if I came in on a bad rotation where they reheated chicken from earlier or the night before, but it did not taste fresh as you'd expect. Ok now to the good stuff... Egusi: this is the main flavor, listed as a soup on the menu but more like a stew instead. It's nutty and hearty with 5 star flavor and spices. This thing rocked! Fufu: this as a mild and soft starch that goes with it all. Almost like a softer consistency gnocchi or some other potato/noodle combo. Not much to it by itself honestly, but man, what a great flavor bomb when you take a piece of it and dunk it in that amazing egusi. Maybe on a day with fresh and tender chicken, the trifecta would be complete: soft and chewy fufu + rich and nutty egusi + fall off the bone tender chicken. A bit of a kick and seasoned very well. I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like was the fufu. I wanted to like it, but the texture was off. It didn't pinch off and roll around in my fingers like I've seen, where I make the little indentation to scoop up the soup. It was kind of dry and crumbly.
