GET THIS SPOT MORE FAME! Fresh chicken n rice with proper flavor and a price of $8. That includes a drink! I got the combo as a salad. The owner gave me and my fam a small sampler as we were waiting for the food. So definitely recommend the service as he did it all with a smile. The location is next to a strip mall so parking is easy. With such great food and service, you should be grateful it's only $8. Worth coming here again

Not bad but not enough meat

Afridi's unfortunately didn't live up to the hype for me. Maybe it's because I've been spoiled with Adel's Halal Food which anything has yet to compare to, but Afridi's was seriously lacking in the main thing that's required- the meat! Yes, the rice is great but why skimp so much on meat? I get that there's an extra meat option but that doesn't mean that the regular option should barely have any.

Heard and read numerous rave reviews about this low key Halal cart and I definitely wasn't disappointed. Massive portion of chicken with steamy fluffy rice and just the right amount of white sauce had me drooling from first to last bite. My only wish was that I found out earlier. No doubt one of the best in Queens, NY. $8 for Chicken platter with can of soda. A true bargain this day and age.

Gentleman was very nice and had a smile. I ordered the chicken lamb combo with white sauce. Comes with a salad, delicious rice, a can of soda or water and a pita. All for $8 Everything was delicious. Hit the spot and I'm so glad I found a halal truck closer to me that actually tastes good.

Everything about this place is A+. The person cooking the food is such a nice person which adds to the overall experience of buying food from a cart. While you wait, he lets you sample the food he's preparing to know if you would like more seasoning etc. The food is so tasty and exactly what you want from eating chicken over rice but never get from so many places. The rice, chicken, and salad- everything seems super fresh! The white sauce also has amazing flavor (perhaps dill?) $7 will get you a filling meal with a drink. Amazing! I found my go to place for chicken over rice!

I make it my business to stop by this little cart on my bike at least every few weeks. This was one of the first food carts in Little Neck, and by God, I'm glad it came! I hadn't even tried Halal food before I ate at Afridi's. Now I can't get enough of it! :D I usually order the lamb over rice, with a light sprinkling of white sauce and hot sauce. It always leaves me feeling satisfied. Free drink with every platter too! The owner is nice. He knows me as "The Guy with the Bike" by now. He'll sometimes try to chat you up and joke around with you, which is cool. Clearly, he enjoys making people smile. That's always appreciated. Good stuff! When life is getting you down, eat more Halal. :)

Chicken over rice $6 (includes a soda)

Came here around 4:30 to get some Halal food for dinner and nobody was in the cart but as soon as I was getting back in my car, the guy walked over from across the street and was on his phone (the whole time). I got a chicken over rice and requested extra white & hot sauce. He accommodated my request and gave a generous portion as well. The price is also very cheap at $6 and it includes a soda. Not gonna lie, the food was very good. Maybe not as good as The Halal Guys but still good. The platter came with fresh, tasty, tender pieces of chicken- lots of it, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, perfectly cooked rice, and even had cut up pita bread on top. The white sauce, I have no complaints about, it was legit and the hot sauce, mind you, it's very hot. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area.

This is our second time enjoying Afridi's Halal Food and it was as good as our first try. Amazing! We happened upon it when Chipotle was closed and we saw a line waiting at the cart. We enjoy all ethnic cuisines but never experienced NY halal. We ordered the Chicken over rice and the mixed grill over rice. We could not believe the price. You get a huge helping of rice, salad and meat for $6.00 (incl. a can of soda or a bottle of water). When the order is compete, he gives a good helping of the white sauce and some hot sauce on top. Both times, the guy in the cart is very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this halal food cart.

This is my 1st Halal experience. I tasted just a little rice and chicken from a co worker and I was hooked. Super fresh ingredients. They make it as spicy as one likes. Yes! Had my own platter Thursday. I usually eat half my lunch and save for the next day, but just could not stop eating. Tender fresh chicken seasoned with onions and spices served w side of lettuce n tomatoes. Get the white and red sauce, and ask for extra spice. The best part is that it tasted like home cooking.

Good guy on the flat top cooking delicious food. Try the hot sauce Has chicken, lamb, combo, gyros, and falafal...

Gotta eat two, just kidding .

Time to get your Stomach ready~~~ Oh, how much I missed Halal food. The white sauce and the combo. They sell it here for $6.99 plus a soda. I suggest washing the top of the lid because I saw one with a young grasshopper. Let's talk about the food. It was very good from the Pita to the Lamb to the chicken and even lettuce. As you can see I'm not really a veggie person. However, I enjoyed it after a long time of not eating Halal and also during one summer I tried to try all the Halal carts.

If you're over by Horace Harding there's a little gem of a halal food nestled right in front of the shopping center. The owner and operator is such a nice guy. The food is always freshly made right in front of you - and it's ALWAYS AMAZING. Over the last year of coming to him for lunch/dinner he has introduced me to new sauces and spice, I'm always open to trying new things. Would recommend over and over again. Thanks for always being amazing!

Brother... you want that good street meat? Get your mind out…read moreof the gutter..get with this halal street cart. Now, listen, hillside avenue has long been adorned with a plethora of halal and the like, even this intersection has three or four spots alone; that being said, for years I've been coming only to Sahara halal cart by the subway... with good reason. This guy is surely the best of the three on this intersection if not all of hillside, damn straight. Tonight was the first time in 10 years since I've been going that I checked yelp, sure enough, here is my review. This cart has always been the best and with his track record I'm sure he will reign supreme for years to come. Approach this cart with an appetite! No matter what time you're hungry (tonight I got there a little after midnight) When I walked up, he of course had a couple fellas ordering food at the same time I was there. $5... that's right, $5-$7 will get you a full and delicious container of halal, be it chicken over rice, lamb gyro, or a combo; all of it comes with white sauce hot sauce and salad. Throw him a tip for sure, it's bangin' food at an awesome price. My normal order here is either chicken over rice with extra white sauce and a touch of hot sauce with pita slices (hold the salad) or I get the combo of gyro lamb and chicken over rice (still no damn salad). I always get a lot of white sauce as it's pretty much the best thing ever! I never get pepper and onion like some cats cuz... well... why ruin a good thing? I like pepper and onion, it's wonderful, but not on this, I like it as pure as possible; It's like cocaine, and just as addicting. You don't even need the hot sauce as it can take away from how amazing this thing taste (an I'm normally a hot sauce fiend!) I clearly love this cart and hit it any and every time I visit my friend or just happen to be in the area. You will too, believe me. A quick three cart comparison at this location will tell you all you need to know, the guy directly across hillside ave is okay, but way too spicy (I like spicy, but this just isn't the time for this kind of heat.) The guy diagonally across Hillside and Littleneck is the second best of the intersection and quite tasty as well, but nobody, and I mean nobody, is as good as my boy here at Sahara! I feel bad for anyone walking into subway for not experiencing this guys food cart, or hell even subway since this cart is far superior with their four options. I'd really like to try the kofta but I can't resist my long time favorite. I'm almost glad I live nowhere near hear or I'd get this way too often, it's gosh darn incredible, and superior to those famous halal brothers in manhattan. Please do yourself a favor and stop at this guys cart. Call me up, maybe I'll drive the 40-50 minutes just to grab a piece of heaven and chill.

So I usually hit up the Hamza & Madina cart located diagonally across Hillside/Little Neck (parked…read moreright in front of the CVS) but thought to give the Sahara cart a try after a few years. I have to say I was pleased with the decision! My usual order at a halal cart is the combo (chicken & lamb) over rice so I opted to stick with that. I was asked if I wanted onion chopped & mixed in so I opted to do that. Good choice, I must say. It added a nice punch of flavor but without being overpowering. I think I prefer the rice and the lamb here over what the other local carts offer. The rice was nice and moist, but without being too greasy, and the lamb was flavorful without being overly salty, as is often the case at the Hamza cart. Overall, I found the platter to be well portioned, high in quality, and satisfying but without making me feel gross afterwards. I've got to say that I will be coming back here again soon and I may even elevate them above the Hamza cart if both carts maintain their recent levels of quality.

So this food truck made an appearance at my school for an event. We had a choice of Medina Halal,…read moreGorilla Cheese and Warung Roadside. Of course being the foodie that I am, I needed to Yelp each truck before deciding, and already being a sucker for Asian food, Warung won hands down. All of the pictures that they had on Yelp looked amazing. Then I looked at the menu for the options we had and the food was all the same. I thought, great! You'd be an idiot not to choose this truck. ANYWAYS, WOW, what an extreme disappoint is all I can say. They were offering their Pad Thai which was described as "Award winning Bangkok street style wok-fried noodles with tofu, scallion, bean sprouts, egg and peanut". Let me tell you, this Pad thai they gave out was the WORST pad thai I've ever had in my life. First of all, it looked absolutely NOTHING like the photo. (The photos look effing amazing). The entire dish was plain, flavorless and sauceless. The noodles were plain white, no added sauce or anything like it. They were definitely not wok fried as described but tasted like they were plain boiled. Image boiling a box of pasta, straining it and then eating it JUST like that. That's exactly what this entire dish tasted like. There was no tofu, scallion or bean sprouts. I had to add SRIRACHA to the dish for flavor. You don't add sriracha to pad thai!!! But I was desperate for some flavor. I'm sorry but WHY would you demolish your entire dish just because you're on a college campus? I'm sure the school is paying you very well to be there and what you did is basically RIP THEM OFF. Does the school know you did that? Or did you tell them beforehand that you're going to revamp your dishes for the worst because this is a school event? I'd love to know. No wonder the Halal line was almost 10 times as long. People probably know the deal. This was my fist school event so I had nothing to go by. If you can provide a valid explanation I will take down this post. However as of now, I will never recommend anyone to eat from this truck. Worst pad thai/Asian food I've ever had in my life.
