I love this place. It definitely fills a need for both ice cream/froyo in the area, as well as desserts. But it goes way beyond that. The self-serve means you get exactly what you want. I love lots of toppings, not paying 50 cents or a dollar for just sprinkles. The fresh fruit is great, and its awesome to have several different kinds. The environment is really welcoming, and comfortable to hang out in. It manages to be family-friendly and yet not overrun with rugrats. And a shout-out to the employees. They are really the best. Always upbeat, always helpful, they really add to the atmosphere at Afters. Although for me it's often Befores, or In-Betweens. Or just All-the-Times. read more

Craving some fro-yo late and drove all the way to Fed Hill for some. Was a little disappointed their original tart tasted almost sour. The creamy chocolately was actually surprisingly good though! Normal variety of toppings, looked clean too! (self serve fro-yo places creep me out sometimes) Didn't like the macaroons... at all. But the staff was very nice even though I was so indecisive and it was time to close, she wasn't rushing me! Not my fav fro-yo place. read more

Afters is a wonderful, community shop and the perfect place to get dessert or coffee after dinner. The is a wide assortment of pastries, including macarons, and a self serve froyo bar with toppings. It is very kid friendly; there are books and a chess set. The coffee is also good, but this isn't the place to go if you are in a rush. There is usually only one or two people making drinks. But it is worth the wait. Definitely get the loyalty if you live in the area. read more

One of my favorite spots in town. I go there nearly every day for some iced coffee in the summer and hot drinks in the winter time. Andy is so personable and really runs a lovely business. The punch cards are also great and keep you coming back. They now have cold brewed, slow drip coffee as well as tasty bubble tea. Love this place! They have six flavors of frozen yogurt, which include original tart, vanilla, chocolate, and three rotating flavors. The chocolate is incredible; it tastes like rich chocolate pudding! If you're lucky they'll have cake batter or angel food cake (my personal favorites, especially when topped with Fruity Pebbles). Lots of toppings to choose from, and you pay by the ounce. They also have coffee, tea, and other desserts if ice cream isn't your thing. The staff is always friendly too! read more

The one thing I like about Afters more so than the countless other fro-yo places that keep popping up almost daily is that you don't have to choose a size. The yogurt is weighed by the ounce. And you put on your own toppings. So if you're in the mood for a ton of ice cream and a tiny bit of toppings, go for it. If you just want a little ice cream piled high with candy bar toppings, you can do that, too. It's nice to have the option to do it yourself. And the flavors change out on a daily (or weekly) basis, which keeps me coming back. Except when it's freezing cold. read more

They have frozen yogurt, coffee and tea, and some pastries. The price is very reasonable and the taste - they are all good! We have tried a little bit of everything. Service was good as well. They were quick and are pleasant to the guests. Oh and the decorations...Wow, very simple yet unique! It is very cozy inside. I would definitely keep coming back for some snack and just chill. Listen up vegans: Afters Café functions as a hybrid café and a self-serve frozen yogurt and sorbet bar. They serve Illy coffee and espresso drinks (available with soy milk), and tend to carry at least one vegan frozen dessert. Their current (August 1, 2012) vegan selections are peanut butter soy-based ice cream and a pomegranate sorbet. (The PB-soy ice cream was delicious and creamy, lacking that typically distinctive beany soy flavour.) read more

It was my first time trying frozen yogurt and I was in love. I tried the low-fat nutella and it was really good. The staff is also very friendly. I would have scored them higher until I discovered another frozen yogurt place called Sweet Peach which is cheaper than Afters and has a much larger selection. But Afters is a good and convenient substitute when I am at work. For a frozen yogurt place, the yogurt seems like an afterthought since there aren't many different flavors to choose from (but the topping selection is decent). The courtesy cups of water are sort of a joke but I appreciate them for eagerly complying. read more

True neighborhood spot. We bring our little one here for a treat about 1-2 times a week. Never spend than $1-2 on his ice cream. Being able to control the proportions is great. Also come here for coffee in the morning. They use illy coffee which is great. What makes this place special is they have helped make this feel like a great family place to hangout. I had been to Afters Cafe several times before but was inspired to write a review after today. I was desperately craving bubble tea after a super long day of errands and had gone to two other bubble tea places before coming here. The first place in Mount Vernon listed a closing time of 10pm online but the shop was already dark and empty by the time I got there at 9:40. The second place (also in Mt Vernon) was outa boba. At this point I was seriously considering making the drive out to Ellicott City but remembered Afters Cafe was close by. I call them at 9:55 asking when they closed (10pm) and tell them I could make it there in about 5 minutes. The person over the phone, who may have been the owner but I'm not entirely sure, was nice enough to take my milk tea order to get it started and told me to take my time getting there. By the time I arrived at 10:03, he was just placing the lid onto the cup and then it was ready to go. I'm not advocating that y'all do this, but I seriously want to give these guys a shoutout for making a girl's day. They don't accept card tips so make sure to bring cash. I'll be sure to do this next time but hopefully this review will suffice in the meantime. FYI, I just finished my bubble tea and it was thoroughly satisfying. read more

Cute and eclectic decor. They offer a variety of desserts and are open a lot later than other bakeries. They don't make their pastries in house, but they get them from a local bakery, but still tastes delicious. I haven't tried their yogurt, but they make one of the best (though not a lot of competition) bubble teas in the area. Not too overly sweet. read more

Afters is a great addition to Federal Hill because it is one of a few places that are open late. The only other self-serve frozen yogurt place I have to compare it to is Frozen Yo in DC. Afters offers a much smaller selection with anywhere between four to six flavors of yogurt, but the fresh fruit toppings are a real treat. The seating in Afters is great because in addition to small tables, they have some comfortable couches near the front. The decoration is modern with the modular magazine shelf. But I am not sure what category the area rug that looks like Swiss cheese falls into. read more

Yogurt is good--the original flavor isn't as tangy as some others, but is good. The peanut butter and chocolate flavors taste like ice cream (much to my boyfriend's relief). Lots of toppings to choose from and the staff is nice. They have a dessert case with some awesome pastries...if you aren't in the mood for ice cream, you'll be able to find something. read more
