I had high hopes after loving the Covington location, but this location dropped the ball on atmosphere, service, and food. We went on a Saturday afternoon, wasn't very busy but service was very slow. The interior design of this place is so gaudy that it's borderline repulsive. The food was expensive, and very underwhelming. I ordered the Cheesy Amigo, and once I shoveled the mountain of cheese off the top, I was able to find the dry, unflavored meat. The vegan birra tacos are absolutely horrible and the soup that you dipped the tacos in was practically tomato soup it was so strange. For one app (salsa trio) and a dinner for two it was $90!!! That's insane!! Also our server was extremely nice but she would not leave us alone she talked too much and we are the type of people who want to be left alone to enjoy our food. I do have to say the rice is really good. The decor was also weird a gaudy but the restaurant was clean. I went to agave & rye on a Monday 1/23 with a group. The restaurant wasn't very busy but it took an hour and a half to be seated. We waited at the bar in the mean time and I ordered a premade margarita! It unfortunately took the young bar tender 20 minutes to bring me my drink... Once we were seated we were told we had to go back up to the bar and pay for our drinks... When it was finally time to order our waiter "Z Dog" was unable to give helpful recommendations. My husband and I ordered the birria burritos which is under the category "NOT A TACO". When the food came out I was handed a hot plate of three birria tacos... which came with a side of scolding hot consommé soup you dip your tacos in... I was given no warning when handed the hot plate - the scolding consommé spilled all over my hand the blonde runner didn't even apologize when I literally yelled "Ouch! That's hot!!". When we told Z Dog we ordered burritos he pointed at the three tacos in front of us and said "That is the burrito. " HA. So we waiting ten more minutes for them to make the right food. My hand still has a burn rash 17 days later. Our bill was $100 and it's safe to say this was our first and last time. I will never recommend agave & rye!! read more

This was a disappointing experience. We went with some of our friends on a Monday night and while the restaurant wasn't overly crowded with people, we waited an hour and a half just to get a table. While we waited at the bar the bartender was very short with us and took about 15 minutes to bring out frozen margaritas that were pre-made and ready to go. When we finally got a table, after ignoring us for over an hour he rudely told everyone that they needed to pay for their drinks at the bar before being seated but didn't print receipts for anyone or even follow up to make sure everyone paid. One of us didn't pay until after the meal and the drink was added to the final tab, so he was obviously not correct. The tacos were okay, but definitely not worth the price. Our server was nice but not super knowledgeable about the menu or able to make good recommendations. Two of the people at our table were brought the wrong food and the meat on one of the tacos was burnt. My friend was handed a hot plate with no warning and burned her hand. The other food was fine but combined with inattentive staff was not worth it. I hate to write bad reviews but don't want anyone else to waste their money. Chips and salsa for Appetizer $5. For 5 bucks they should have at least been warm. They were cold, hard, and greasy. Had Baria tacos. Good flavor, also very greasy. Had the OG margarita. The eating area is bright and interesting. Very eclectic. Our server was great. Explained things well and was attentive without being annoying. My margarita tasted as if came from a Costco bottle, ok but certainly not outstanding. My wife and I each ordered a Plain Jane taco. We also had an order of Mexican rice. The tacos were unique but not all that good. May just be me, but I expect the cheese to be melted. The rice was blah. Tasteless and cool. We had also ordered chips and salsa. I hope there is not a trend of charging $5 for this. Salsa was bland. It's a fun looking and welcoming place, but the food is not as good as several other Mexican restaurants nearby. read more

Fun experience trying the various tacos. The Brussels sprout appetizer was delicious. We were all extremely full after two tacos. Really disappointed to find there was no space to change my newborn and ended up changing him right in the middle of the dining room on an open booth, we cannot have been pleasant for other guests. Bizarre experience there- arrived to a half empty restaurant but 10+ people waiting to be seated and were told they were waiting for "change of shift" to seat people. Once seated, we asked if we could get a booth instead of the table they sat us at because we had a toddler with us and were told the booths were for larger groups (we had a party of 3). No less than 5minutes later they seated a party of three at the booth in question. Always a crowd waiting to be seated while half the actual tables in the restaurant remained empty. Apparently our server didn't know we were in his section so it was about 20min until someone came to get our order, this was after me having to ask someone to grab our server. Server himself was v pleasant. Drinks were overpriced and while the menu was interesting it overall felt like an expensive chipotle. I ended up just eating the filling out of my tacos because it's basically like little mini meals inside. The taco shells were superfluous. Service was awful. Our waiter was so mean, refused to write down our orders, then proceeded to get every order wrong. Stopped for lunch with a friend recently. I know this location just opened recently and I have never dined at one before. The taco I had was delicious and well presented. The staff was courteous and attentive. Manager stopped to see how things were going as well. Menu is fairly large with options other than tacos but the variety and creativity of their taco selection is vast. Drink prices looked a tad expensive but did not partake of one. Food is also on high end but value was good. I will be back to try other things. read more

Would not recommend this place. I understand it was opening week and all places have their issues to fix. However the food was cold. We had to wait forever for silverware. Then when the waitress basically made me order a $30 drink and forgot to mention, it was happy hour and could've paid basically half price did nothing about it. she even admitted she screwed up, but did nothing about it. I paid $50 for a cold meal and a horrible drink. I contacted management through Facebook and email and all they could do was say let me know when you come back in here. We all know we have hectic schedules and are not sure when that will be when I asked if they could make it right by possibly doing a gift card of some sort to make up for the inconvenience I got no response. Live in the area and finally decided to give it a try. We were disappointed. For the most part they have tacos and that's about it. No enchiladas, no tamales, etc. They do have a couple burritos. Guacamole was not very good. I like chunky but this had a full 1/4 of unmashed avacodo that was too hard to mash with a fork. Chip are real thick and too big. They would be better if they were warm. Ordered salsa and it was very bland. Seemed odd we had to ask for salsa. The tacos are different. Over stuffed sort of, but filling. Had the Happy Pappy. Taste was good but it was mostly filled with rice. They all seem to have rice or mac and cheese or some other sort of filler. At $10 and up per taco I think it's over priced. We sat at the bar and got great service. There were only 2 other people in the place though when we arrived. Probably won't return and I'm not sure how they will survive in that location. read more
