I absolutely love the aesthetic of this place and going on a weekday was a much better idea than the weekend due to less crowding. The service was wonderful. Both our server and the bartenders were super engaging and gave great suggestions. As for the food, extremely delicious! The tacos were flavorful, but I wouldn't recommend the corn tortilla because it barely held it shape against the juicy meat. The rice and beans were well seasoned, and the drinks were delicious. We tried Agave Bandido on a Saturday for a birthday celebration with a party of 16. Overall, it was a very good time. The ambiance and designs are amazing. We didn't have time to try the SpeakTiki. The service was very good with efficient and friendly servers. The drinks, apps, and entrees were mostly accurate and timely. There were a couple reasonable mix ups that were quickly resolved. During the ordering, there were a lot of distractions with the World Cup Soccer game playing. The food was good, but not above average overall. Four of us had the fish tacos and all agree were lacking an acceptable amount of fish. The taste was good, but the cabbage exceeded the amount of fish. The chimichangas had good reviews as well as the quesadillas, but most Mexican restaurants make them just as well. The one outstanding item was the Bandido Taco. Again, definitely not a lot of steak, but the flavor combination was fantastic! A bit pricey at $8 for one taco with no sides. The Winter Garden location isn't an area we would normally travel to, but given the average overall food quality, we will probably stick to closer Mexican restaurants. read more

We were out for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The location was not very busy and it was nice enough outside that we chose to sit outside. They have a huge outdoor seating area and tons of fans all over the area and it's covered so definitely get some shade. The inside is also highly air-conditioned - we chose not to sit in there like I said because it was a nice day out. They do have a bar area and they do have outside seating at the bar as well as inside. Service was good! once we sat down, our server quickly, came and took our order. Because we were there for lunch they do have a lunch menu with specials on it. We were very impressed with the overall size of the lunch portions for the value. I got the Mexican chicken Caesar salad and it was delicious. It's a mix of kale and Romain lettuce with corn, cheese and a Mojo marinated chicken. Chicken was very soft very moist and really delicious. We also got the guac which for lunch special is only $10. The guacamole was really good and the chips are good too. My husband got the pollo lunch dish - which is marinated chicken with beans and rice. The size of the chicken was perfect and pretty large for lunch portion. He enjoyed the dish very much. We've been holding off on trying Agave Bandito for a bit since I was hearing mixed reviews from friends that visited when they first opened, hoping they've ironed out the details and improved. Starting off with the pros, the atmosphere is wonderful and unique with plenty of seating including indoor and their covered outdoor patio. We were seated outside on the patio and it was a lovely day. The service was great, we were seated quickly, our service was extremely attentive, and who seems to be the manger did a lovely table-touch to check in on us during the meal. We went for dinner and as the sun was setting, they lifted the patio screens and made the ambience very pleasant. Our server immediately took our drink orders and returned with free chips and salsa, which they were on top of refilling through the meal if needed. We agreed that the drinks were probably the best part of the meal. My fiancé enjoyed his tequila old fashioned and I had a refreshing prickly pear mocktail. The food was very ok. I ordered the chicharron tostones as my entree even though it's technically a starter. You get two tostones topped with a couple thin sliced pieces of chicharron for $16, which was definitely not worth it since half of it was nearly inedible due to the tostones being hard as rock. They were also place on top of a mayo-based sauce that did not go well with the flavors and was overpowering since it was drowning in the sauce. My fiancé ordered the chimichanga, and the portion size was huge. It had a decent amount of meat and a TON of rice, which he was ok with since he loves rice, but would have been way too much for my personal liking. Overall, all of the flavors were very meh and fell a little flat for me. We agreed that we would maybe come back and try out other meal items, or at least come back to enjoy drinks out on the patio. My mom and I come here at least once a week when we have the same days off together. The service is impeccable, the food is fantastic, and the drinks always hit the spot. I ordered the mahi-mahi, and I'll give credit where it's due: the fish itself was excellent. It was flavorful, tender, and practically melted in my mouth. Unfortunately, the rice it came with didn't match that quality at all. It tasted like it had been sitting for a while and was just reheated--kind of hard and not a great pairing with such a soft, well-cooked fish. I also tried the steak with chimichurri, which was really good. The meats that the restaurant serves seems to be where they shine--well-seasoned and full of flavor. But again, the sides didn't hold up. The yuca fries tasted like they had either been over-fried or refried, giving them a slightly stale taste. Overall, the drinks were good and the service was solid, which I appreciated. But the inconsistency between the mains and sides was a bit of a turn-off. Today, I finally got to check out Agave Bandido as I am fairly new to the area. I had been to the restaurant next door but this place really caught my eye. The place is beautifully decorated inside and out. I went for lunch but there were main guests sitting outside enjoying their meals. I chose to outside with my friends since the weather was nice. Our server was very attentive. We started out with complementary chips and salsa and chose to get the tropicoco martini and the hibiscus coconut margarita (pictured). Definitely make a reservation as they stay very busy. When making a reservation online, make sure you are reserving for the Winter Garden location; the website automatically defaults to the Miami location. There is a speakeasy in the back, located behind the wall, just past the bar. We had a nice cozy table right next to the bar. Our waiter, Drew, was fantastic and so attentive. My friend and I were slow on making decisions regarding drinks and food and he kept checking on us while we perused the menu. I was shocked by how often he came to check on us with how busy the restaurant was. He was constantly bringing drinks refills and making sure we didn't need anything. The food was fantastic. They had a special menu just for the holiday. My friend and I decided to share everything so we could try more food. For drinks we got the ancho pineapple infused tequila shot, the spicy avocado margarita, and the mezcalita. All were delicious. The spicy avocado margarita was my favorite. For food, we did tableside guac, the chopped chicken salad, yucca fries, and tostones. I would order this exact meal again. This was my first visit, so I'll likely come back and try more things. My boyfriend loved the margarita he got - they seem to have a nice selection and flavor variety. This place looks super cool inside, and I highly recommend the speakeasy hidden inside. However, this was not our favorite place for dining. First, it grossed me out a bit that when they'd clean the tables they just brushed things to the floor. So there were food bits on the floor and they weren't cleaning it up- I watched the girl do this. Food: was OK, not amazing and a bit pricey, but it's Hamlin. I was disappointed that the fajitas couldn't be made without bell peppers, as I was told the veggies are pre-mixed. Their house salsa is SO good and the steak was pretty decent. Service: our server was nice but they are so slow. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, which is sort of surprising for Mexican food. I could see other tables getting frustrated with the wait to get food or pay as well. There were many people working but they'd just stand around and chat with each other. We've noticed this at the front desk too, you can have a reservation but have to stand in a long line. They have 2 people working the desk, so why not have them both help people to be more efficient? Maybe they'll get into a rhythm, I hope. Maybe we'll try again in a few months, hopefully the kinks of a new restaurant get worked out. read more

What a cool decorated building inside and out. Neon colors everywhere. There is probably more seating outside than inside but not sure how it would feel outside with our muggy Summer evenings with the heat and/or bugs. Hopefully, they have it handled with fans and bug rappers. We sat in a large corner booth inside which gave us a great view of the inside dining area. It was close to the kitchen so there was a lot of foot traffic in the area. Our server was a little out of it and told us many times that it was very busy. We really did not need to hear that and just wanted great service. Unfortunately, it was lacking. Ultimately, he would bring out what we asked for but a few times, he seemed to fight the request. An example was asking for lime to put on my ceviche. He finally brought some out but they were dry so I asked for more. His response was that he already gave me some. I had to explain that it was dry and didn't give any juice. It seemed he almost didn't believe me but finally said he would bring some out. I got the impression I was bothering him. My friends also wanted limes but didn't want to ask based on the response I received. We had to request the complimentary chips and salsa after sitting for about 15 minutes and none were brought to our table. When they did, they brought one bowl and one salsa cup. I had to request another set for the other side of our large table and due to the number of people. Their salsa lacks heat of any kind. In fact, all the dishes were very mild tasting. Hot sauce, at the table, is a must here if you like a little kick. The ceviche was lacking in flavor. Hence the reason I needed the lime. I also requested cilantro and extra onions to add to it. Again, he didn't really want to get it and tried to say they didn't have it. He eventually brought it to us. This is definitely not authentic Mexican food nor did I really expect it. My friend who is Mexican, said her carne asada was ok but a little on the sweet side which was not what she wanted or expected. She took it home for leftovers and said it tasted off the next morning when though it was kept cold. Her daughters both ordered the shrimp tacos. They did not like them at all and said they tasted too sweet. Prices are high here for the food and based on what we tried and the experience we had, I doubt we will come back anytime soon. The Taco Tuesday prices for tacos are a good deal though. 50% off and you can add any extra taco for $2. Drinks were decent in strength and seemed comparable to pricing at other restaurants we go to. We were informed, when I asked what the strongest drink was, that all the drinks are limited to ounces.of liquor. Ok. I wanted to love this place. It's within walking distance. But. I can't. We made a reservation yesterday bc we tried to come last week and were very rudely turned away by the gal at the front. Waitress Nicole came back twice to ask what our drink orders were. (Very basic. A house Marg to start and a beer on tap from Homestate for hubs - not that hard). Food order goes in and I ask again if we could get chips and salsa - we worked all day, made a res and really wanted to try them. Another bit passes and finally we get an order set down. Salsa was delish. Chips were super greasy tasting. We saw others with seasoning on it but our basket was skipped. No salt shakers on the table, none were brought when asked. Food finally came and my order was wrong. Wrong beans. Covered in onions and cilantro when I asked for no onions at all. We had a straight view into the kitchen and there was an expediter plus one other taking all the plates and setting on a prep table so that should have been caught. Once my new order of tacos came out my family was already done eating and ready to go. The meat was incredibly dry (carnitas) and even the waitress said oh that's usually my fav thing here but that doesn't even look good. The tortillas were super dried like they'd been sitting there for awhile or even reused from the original order. Couldn't even bend to pick the taco up if I wanted. I ended up tasting the rice and beans and then I was done. When our waitress even commented that didn't look right I was just ready to pay and leave. It was our second try last night. First off, the service was great! The hostess and waitress were both super nice and helpful. We had to change tables twice because of sticky residue on all the empty and ready to go tables. Which is weird, because the ambience is so unique, but you have to keep it clean. I'm going to preface this by saying that I understand the restaurant is brand new and will only improve over time but as of right now, I'm a little surprised by all the super high ratings. First, the service was not great. We waited over 20 minutes just for chips and salsa if that tells you anything. The cocktails were tasty but seemed to have less than half a shot of alcohol in them and were rather small with 50% consisting of ice. As for the food, the queso was really good. A few in our party had the adobo chicken quesadillas. It wasn't dry but lacked in flavor overall. My husband ordered the Pollo Al Carbon and said it was just okay. The atmosphere is the star of the show. From the light fixtures to the outdoor area they really did an amazing job. With that being said, it was so insanely hot inside that we were all having to fan ourselves during dinner. Overall, we won't be back anytime soon which is extremely disappointing because we were so excited for this spot so close to home. It was very busy but we had a reservation so we were seated on time. The food was pretty good but not great. The restaurant has prices very comparable to other Mexican restaurants, but I did think the portions were small. The chicken fajita only got me two tacos and it came with a small cup of rice and beans. Kiddos got the adult beef taco plate to share and my husband got the shredded beef tacos. Been wanting to try this place for a while, as we have one down in south Florida and this location looks awesome. Food 5/5 Chips and Salsa: these were delicious. The chips were fresh and the salsa was very good. It had a nice bright vibrant flavor with a lingering spice that was pleasant but not enough to blow your head off. It was fresh with just the right amount of sweetness. Chipotle Queso: this stuff was addicting. Creamy, salty, gooey, and just enough warming spice from the chipotle. We could not stop eating this. Adobo Chicken Quesadilla: this was a monster. A heavy, generous serving in a nice crispy flour tortilla. The melty cheese was a great compliment to the shredded chicken. Dunk this into the queso if you really wanna party. Adobo Chicken Nachos: another hit here. Same delicious chips as with the salsa, succulent shredded chicken; and all the usual toppings. This was another generous portion here. Service 5/5 Our server Maya must've had like 6-7 tables but was still on top of everything. She was attentive and knowledgeable. We let her know we had a show later and gave her our entire order when we sat down and she did a great job helping us finish in time. On top of that, the manager who made rounds was also very friendly and helped out whenever needed. They have a great collaborative vibe with their service, as both our server, the manager, and even someone from the kitchen staff who was out at another table all brought us refills at separate times on their own volition. I hate to give a 2 but I'm going to explain why. Let's start with the great! First not a service issue our server was PHENOMENAL! Phillip was great and if we had him again I would be delighted. Drinks are really nice, definitely coming back for the speakeasy. Pinà colada margarita was surprisingly amazing. El Jefe wonderful. Guacamole flight, loved it! Now what brought it down. When I booked the reservation on their website I did not see an inside outside option & we were sat outside. Don't eat outside, it was awful. So many bugs, couldn't take anything to go because bugs were constantly crawling on us and the food. The restaurant needs bug zappers & citronella candles!! Netting, better fans, something! If I went there again to eat, currently doubtful, & they tried to seat me outside I would leave!! The tacos were bland. What is that spice rating for? I've had spicier ice cream than this. Take it off the menu or add real spice! The corn tortillas tacos need to be grilled longer and there need to be two per taco, they fell apart when you picked them up. We literally ran out of the restaurant, I found our server paid with my ApplePay left the food on the table. When we got in the car my wife said "I'm so glad we are not outside there anymore". The ambiance is stunning. Super busy and vibrant restaurant. The Paloma was good. The guacamole flight is delicious. The carne asada tacos were good, I added sour cream and tomatillo sauce for spice and flavor. The black beans and cilantro rice also were good and just needed a kick. We sat at the outside part of the bar. The stools were uncomfortable without backs. Our service was good afternoon we finally got waited on. We sat and waited for a good 20 minutes before someone came and took our drink ordee order. Once we got through that everything was great! We've visited Agave Bandido several times and unfortunately our experiences have been very inconsistent. Our first visit was great, the second was mediocre, and the third was really good -- so we were excited to celebrate my birthday there. Sadly, that visit was disappointing, but we decided to give it one more chance and recently stopped by the bar for appetizers and cocktails. We ordered the ceviche listed on the menu as corvina, but what arrived was clearly not corvina. The fish was slimy, had an unpleasant texture, and left a terrible taste. After having to flag down the bartender -- because no one checks on you or engages with guests at the bar -- I immediately said the fish was bad and that it was tilapia, not corvina. Only after we pointed this out did management come over and confirm they had switched the fish to tilapia while the menu still listed corvina. The manager was honest and professional once involved, even admitting the dish shouldn't be on the menu and offering us a tequila shot to help take the bad taste away, which we appreciated. However, serving a completely different fish than what is advertised -- and only acknowledging it after a customer calls it out -- is simply not acceptable. Unfortunately, the bar service has been consistently poor. The bartenders are not attentive, do not check on guests, and come across as unfriendly and unwelcoming. This has nothing to do with language barriers -- I speak Spanish as well -- it simply comes down to hospitality and customer service, which has been very disappointing to experience in our own neighborhood. We truly wanted to love and support this place, but after several inconsistent visits and repeated service issues, we're honestly unsure if we'll return. We hope management takes this feedback seriously because the restaurant has potential, but consistency, accuracy, and good service are essential. After the experience at the main bar, we decided to give the speakeasy tiki bar area a try, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, that didn't work out either. There appeared to be only one bartender working, and he was extremely overwhelmed and clearly unable to keep up with the number of guests. After waiting about 15 minutes without anyone being able to greet us or take our order, we eventually decided to walk away. We understand that being busy happens, but proper staffing and service flow are important -- especially in a space designed for guests to relax and enjoy drinks. It added to the overall feeling of disorganization and disappointment that night. read more

It was my first time going to Agave Bandido. The drink they made me was fantastic. The bartender was kind respectful and hilarious. I loved his positive energy in the vibe in the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place in Winter Garden. read more
