Terrible customer service. Bartender was very rude. I had looked forward to going here but we (group of 4) ended up not staying.

I use to love coming here for the food then the margaritas barely had any alcohol in them and the service was terrible. I came a few more times hoping things would change but unfortunately the service was consistently awful, i.e. the staff attitude, no smile and slow service. My last straw was a few days ago. I arrived with 4 people on a cold day and the bar inside was almost full with random empty chairs. The bartender was so rude and said that's all I have. The patrons were nice enough to move around and accommodate us but the bartender barked and said you can't sit a chair where I make drinks! The bar mat was on our side of the bar. She could of easily moved it over and said no problem, let me get this out of your way so you can sit! I asked her one more time why we couldn't sit there and she grabbed the drink mat with a nasty attitude and rolled her eyes. Guess I'll never be back! read more

This is my second time here. And I returned specifically for the brisket taco . Super tender and great flavor. Friend ordered the rice bowl with ahi tuna. Absolutely delightful and perfectly seared. Went on a Sunday afternoon with my husband. Margaritas were good. My husband ordered the brisket taco and burrito. The brisket was good, the burrito was awful. Almost no protein or flavor. I ordered the shrimp ceviche. The ingredients were very fresh and zero flavor. Like bland and no taste whatsoever. Perhaps they forgot to season. I asked for salt and lemon just to give it a bit of a boost. We are moving to the town next month, but will take this one off our list. read more

Traveling through Bluffton on our way back to Savannah and decided to stop at the Promenade for a bite to eat. Not only was this place in the perfect location, it was also clean, delicious, and had a great ambience. The service was also fantastic. We were immediately greeted as we walked through the door and ordered some margaritas. Now, these margaritas were the best I've ever had. I got a pomegranate margarita. My boyfriend got a classic. Food followed the drinks. I got the spicy shrimp tacos...which were to DIE for. So delicious, I wanted more! My boyfriend got the mahi tuna tacos and also loved them! I highly recommend this place. This place is great for a quick lunch or dinner with your significant other or friends. I love the location, the casual atmosphere, and the decor. Before you eat you knows it's going to be good! I have ordered the Shrimp, Ahi tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Teds BBQ tacos and was very happy with everyone. The tuna is my favorite. Everything is fresh, the ingredients used really enhance the flavors of each taco. Plus the chips and salsa are pretty darn good as well. Stopped in today and ordered the chicken and tuna tacos. The chicken one was so good, I ordered a second one. The tuna was a little off, but I didn't pay too much mind because I wanted to save room for another amazing chicken taco. I hate when Yelpers in reviews use the word "fishy" to describe fish, but it WAS fishy. I wish I could have a better adjective to describe it. Food came out fast. The ambiance is pretty cool. Had gone to the prior location a few months ago and stopped by to have a happy hour margarita on the new patio before grabbing dinner elsewhere in town. Walked up to the two hostesses and asked for a table for a drink on the patio. The hostesses told our party that they would not seat us on the patio if we only wanted drinks. After convincing them to allow us to sit outside at one of the many open patio tables, we watched the hostesses tell the two available waiters to not serve us while consulting with their managers via text about what to do. The four of us sat for twenty minutes while other parties ordered drinks or food and were served, and the two waiters circled our table serving everyone else. I honestly thought it was a joke at first, but it wasn't. Eventually, the hostesses re-approached our table and told us they were refusing to serve us because "they do not do cocktail service on the patio," where every other table around us were drinking cocktails, because we were not going to order food. I honestly couldn't believe it. We got up and left, and I'm honestly stunned. We had such a good time with them at the previous location. It was clearly not the young hostesses fault - they had to tag team to have the courage carry out the hilariously confusing demands of the manager. Have just never been treated worse by waitstaff in my life. Would have been better to be ignored entirely rather than so outright disrespectfully. read more

Bluffton Hilton Head native and the only time worth going here is on Taco Tuesday where you get 2 tacos and a Margarita for $15 plus tax and tip. You sit on uncomfortable bar stools only here, and otherwise is way overpriced tourist trap. Service is horrifically slow. Even during taco Tuesday the tacos are average and still get heart burn from their margaritas. However their margaritas are better than any of the many Mexican restaurant in Bluffton. read more

This has become a regular stop for margaritas, beers (good selection of Mexican styled beers) and some very tasty tacos. If inclined to you can select some very fine tequilla also. Sit at the bar and hang, Chat with other folks, and get yo'self some of those Pork Belly Tacos, yep excellently done. Salsa is tasty with our being overpowering, and guac is fresh and properly spiced. Black bean side is retro good and the street corn is grilled and reminds me of some of the best from the carts in Mexico. Overpriced, slow service, limited options for vegetarians, and they added an extra tip for themselves when processing the credit card receipt. We visited for lunch on New Year's Eve. When ready to place our order, we were informed that they didn't have any beans available so, being a vegetarian, the only option was basically a cheese quesadilla. My boyfriend ordered two chicken tacos, which were $5.50 each and very small. Ultimately, we tipped 18% even though we felt like an inconvenience to the staff and left hungry. When checking my credit card statement, I noticed the amount seemed off. So I compared the itemized receipt to my statement and sure enough, they had given themselves an additional $2 tip. While it may not seem like much, this is fraud and can quickly add up for the business when done across multiple checks. Given our experience and the fact that there are several cute restaurants in the area, I would highly recommend avoiding Agave altogether. read more

We went for dinner tonight to Agave. Heard mixed reviews and I understand why now. The classic margaritas were very good and that is why it got two stars. The chips and queso were bad. Chips were not good and queso tasted like dessert out of the jar. My husband had a chicken burrito which was just ok. I had cheese quesadillas which were not good. The bartender server was not attentive. Did not offer water and never came to ask how the food was. We would definitely not go back for food--only margaritas! read more

Met some people last night who had just eaten dinner here. They were charged 13% tax! They mentioned this to the waitress, who had no explanation. So, when they report their quarterly receipts to the state, and pay the 7% sales tax on it, they just scammed people for 6%! Free $$$! read more

Friendly staff, clean bathrooms and decent food. I did feel it was very overpriced for the serving size. I had 2 tacos that could have easily been one. Agave It was... food cold, tiny appetizer size tacos and Burritos. Wife had two big Margaritas... with no altitude change, all mixer and Ice. I had one beer with diner and wanted more! We tried several tacos, each had their own unique twist. Some were awesome, like the spicy shrimp, and others were not so good, like the ahi tuna (very bland flavor and the ingredients offered nothing but mushy texture). Their prices were unreasonable for what you get- they should at least give more than a few chips with the taco. Overall, very unimpressive. Finally had a chance to try Agave today 1/3/21. Food was really good! Salsa, Chicken Nachos and Blackened Mahi Mahi tacos were superb. BUT.....we were very disappointed in the hygiene of bar / wait staff. We wanted so badly to try the Jalapeño margaritas but someone noticed both the older blonde female and younger dark headed male were handling money, credit cards, receipts etc from person to person and without sanitizing their hands were putting them directly into chopped limes, cutting / handling peppers and all else. Handling cleaning rags, clearing dirty dishes etc. There was a big bottle of hand sanitizer right by the register and we noted neither of them ever used it, sadly. Several customers at the bar were talking about this as we all ate. In a time of COVID, sanitizing your hands should be MANDATORY between customers however the very basic of restaurant, food and beverage prep or even common sense is cleanliness. Every time contaminated hands and fingers reached into the container of chopped limes, touched a glass or plate....anything, it was ALL contaminated with various person to person germs. That's a shame in these times esp staff not thinking! Sanitizing should be every day practice. Period. All of us left wondering what amount of germs we'd had transferred to us via dirty hands. Super fun margaritas! They have strawberry jalepeno which I was a huge fan of. They also have black cherry, skinny, classic, etc. Queso was yummmmm and it's a cute little place with an indoor/outdoor bar so some people can sit outside while still talking to the people sitting inside. read more

I had heard about this place from a friend, who wasn't a big fan, but I thought I would give it a try before dismissing it. I wish I hadn't. Had absolutely the best experience here. Food is soooo delicious and drinks are fabulously fresh. Dillon and Myles provided incredible service (confirmed the spelling for their names as well!!)
