I'm from WI and love Mexican food. I'm always looking for great tacos and I found them here! The best and freshest tacos I ever had! We had the Mexican BBQ beef brisket and Frescado (white fish) tacos. I fell in love Amazing flavor, you won't be disappointed! Waste of time. We dined at this place while on a trip down south. They served shredded chicken instead of grilled. When I told the server that it was supposed to be grilled chicken, she offered no apologies or replacement. I was trying to clarify on something on the menu and was told by the server to 'make up my mind' and that she will come later! Not to mention, my Margarita tasted like fresh lime. Food is okay. A late night night appearance (9:30 pm) resulted in rushed and arguably terrible service. I suggest that they stop serving at 9:00 rather than rush customers - as their closing time is 10:00pm. Margarita was good. But my booth seat right near the kitchen doors resulted in numerous views of the staff eating some of the unfinished fried whole fish that was carried back from a table. Twice. Terrible terrible service at this restaurant. We were lucky enough to walk in just as a table was getting up, but there is no hostess to speak of so when the table was finally cleaned we just went and grabbed it after about five minutes because, again, there was no official hostess. Several different women seemed to be our server as anyone, and everyone, would periodically come by our table and ask if we needed anything or were ready to order. Thus, we were charged for five freaking beers when my boyfriend only had three because every time we asked a server for another beer, the beer was rung in, but it was never brought. Needless to say he had an empty beer glass in front of him for at least ten minutes at one point. No excuse as there seemed to be about four or five servers in this tiny restaurant. My frozen mango margarita was nothing special. It tasted like bottled mango mix. However, the food was pretty decent. Also worth mentioning is that the owner, Nina, stopped by our table and told us that she was terribly puzzled by all the negative online reviews. She has no clue what is going on under her nose because if she were to actually think about what people are writing, she might make the necessary changes to improve the service. Long been a favorite stop when we're in town. Food is plentiful, at a great price and full of flavor. Staff is always so nice! Couple of tips: They'll ask if you want chips and salsa, but they're not free. Same thing with the guac - it's offered, but you're charged for it. Also, we had red sangria last night and the cinnamon in them was overpowering; enough so that we couldn't finish half of them. I'm not sure if this is typical for them or maybe just a strong batch, but it was pretty strong. All in all, well worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

Be careful when ordering margaritas here! We asked for margaritas and the waitress asked if we wanted the 'house special margaritas' and we said yes. Salty, cool, and delicious. Other diners came and set next to us and told the waitress they'd like what we were having - so they were served a round, too. When the bill came, we found we were charged $2 more per drink for the 'house special' rather than the 'house' margaritas. Neighboring table was equally surprised at higher price. When the waitress was asked about it she said the confusion happens all the time and told us to be more clear when ordering next time. Uh - there likely won't be a next time! Two stars for tasty food. Update: 'Be careful' not a strong enough warning! Our neighbors wanted to go here last Friday evening, so we reluctantly went along. Tacos are the reason to go, but once again we were charged for premium drinks after emphatically telling the server we didn't want premium! Seriously, we told him what happened last time and he said he understood. Our table had 2 pitchers of Margaritas, the second so full of ice that we got less than 4 drinks from it. Place was so crowded and disorganized with "staff" running around like a Chinese fire drill that we were unable to get a beer at the bar or our names on the wait list. The Atmosphere was great. It's a very small space, but it's nice. The staff was good and they even made recommended meals. Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. My meal, the chicken enchiladas, was just boring, but my Mother's chile relleno was really bad. Both dishes came with rice and beans that were very bland. Yelp helped us find this spot and I am more than happy it did. The space is small, but you can eat at the bar. The margaritas are delicious, the assortment of salsas and pico for their fresh chips starts your mouth watering for what's to come. This restraint is great if like your food dry. The food is ok but it's the only Mexican place I've ever been that doesn't offer salsa or sauce of any kind for your tacos or meal. The food was great! I had the veggie enchiladas with green sauce --everything was delicious. The service was good and friendly. We were seated quickly, our order was taken fairly fast, and our food came at the perfect time just when we were winding down on the chips and guacamole. We were in and out in under an hour, and were pleasantly surprised since we read a few negative reviews before going. We were so glad it was the closest place, so we gave it a try anyway. read more

This small Mexican restaurant is the real deal with one of the best tequila menus I have ever seen. My companion had pork tamales to start which were filled with delectable spicy pork. I had the shrimp cocktail, not a traditional American version (naturally). All I can say is that it brought me back to life after a long day on the beach. For our entrees, he had the tongue tacos (I took his word for it that they were outstanding) and I had the rellenos stuffed with beef, pecans, apples, etc..with a white sauce...so, so good. First off, there was great margarita and tequila selections! The staff was extremely courteous, fast, and accommodating (since we were traveling with a one year old) We ordered the fish tacos, chips, pico de gallo, guacamole, and chicken flautas... which were fresh, hot, and authentic!! The portions were just right and not overwhelming, like you get at some places. Unfortunately, the salsa's were a little too spicy for me, but the hubby loved it. This is literally the worst Mexican I have ever had. I went for Cinco de Mayo, and I do no think they were prepared. The cheese dip was water with cheese flavoring. They ran out of salsa. We were served on paper plates and had to request silverware, which ended up being a plastic fork. My wife was charged $1.50 for a little bowl of shredded cheese. The only plus was that the drinks were cheap. If you want "authentic Mexican", you can find better at Taco Bell. read more

Good food, horrible service. Our waitress screwed up our food order. That happens, and can be overlooked if the service is otherwise good. It wasn't. We only got our drinks refilled when I grabbed another waiter (ours was too busy standing around the cash register talking). The food was good, but the kicker for our experience came when we got the bill. We had ordered chips and salsa ; she brought us guacamole and various hot sauces as well. We didn't ask for them, but figured they came with the chips and salsa. Wrong. Those were additional charges, adding 6 bucks to our meal. This place was an absolute joke.. Never been to a mexican restaurant where you dont get free chips and salsa???? Service was horrible, waiter was short and seemed to be bothered when we asked to sit outside. he offered us chips and salsa for $5.00. I ordered 2 taco plates and 1 burrito plate, $8 each WITH NO SIDES $2 extra for canned beans with three strands of cheese and weird rice with peas and green beans??? I explained when odering that I would be splitting the Burrito with my wife, I had to beg for an extra plate and the waiter brought a very small saucer plate after asking twice.. When the food came out, no salsa or sauce of any kind with it???? WHAT!!! I had ask for salsa and limes, she literally brought a shot glass with 3 sliced liimes and two smaller containers (each held a tablespoon) with some watery red stuff?? I am 49 years old and a very good tipper, this is only the second time I did not leave a tip, however after reading other reviews I' m sure it was already added to the bill.. We are from Chicago where Mexican food is actually "Authentic". To say say this is "Authentic" Mexican food is pure fraud!!! Sorry Mexican people they are giving your food a bad name!
