I love both dishes by themselves, so when they come together they should be a killer dish. Unfortunately, I felt that it was lacking in flavor. Normally Birria has a delicious bold flavor, and depending on how you eat your ramen, it can also have plenty of flavor. While the food was good and it satisfied the hunger, I was hoping for a little more BAM! Now if you're a person who enjoys the simpler, mild cuisine, then this plate is for you. Grand Hacienda was an excellent Mexican restaurant in St. Pete Beach. I was impressed by the menu variety, service, and speed of the food. Food prices were average and serving sizes were very good. The restaurant isn't large, but it had a good crowd so you knew there was a good following based on food quality. I was impressed they had shredded chicken mole and the flavor was excellent. Stopped in here for dinner after enjoying an afternoon on the beach. Really cute little restaurant with authentic flare. We didn't have a reservation but were seated promptly upon arrival. We arrived around 5:30, I'd defiantly come before 6:00, looks like they tend to get busy after that. Parking in the side or in back but again it fills up so plan ahead. The booths are large with high backs so no awkward look overs. If you have little kids, you understand. The servers were sweet and prompt. The menu is giant! So many options and really something for everyone. We opted for the carne con queso, Mexico City enchiladas and grandmas soup. All were super tasty. The potatoes in the soup threw me for a loop but not in a bad way just not something I'm used to with chicken tortillas soup. Chips and salsa are complimentary. They offer house margaritas and have a happy hour (bogo house margs) 3-6 Monday through Friday. The margaritas were not great if I'm being honest, something about the mix was off. To start off, all workers were on their phone at all times. I would watch as our drinks set empty and they scrolled in plain sight all at the same empty table. Then, when asking about my son's menu whether it was kids eat free with adult purchase, they stuttered and said that was only on Mondays even though all menus said everyday. I don't mind to pay, but information seemed to differ with what is being advertised. Once our food got there everything seemed lack luster. The $25 fajitas were just a slab of chicken on a few onions and peppers hot plate. Seasoning and taste seemed sub par. I got the quesadilla la gringa and the carne al pastor was inedible. Each time I bit into a different sliceof quesadilla, I was met with gristle that couldn't be chewed. The way that type of meat is usually cooked, it falls off the spit with ease and toughness shouldn't be an issue. You would think with an uneaten plate, a server would ask a question as to why...but it was just carried away as I was met with an $80 check for these two meals plus a kids meal quesadilla. I've been to the one at the mall and I would tell you this one wasn't even apart of the same chain. Very disappointing for that price tag and would not recommend. Very unfortunate. read more

What dropped it for me some was that I couldn't substitute sauce flavors in two equally priced items without some nebulous $3 charge which sounded random to me. In the end I agreed to pay it because I wanted the different sauce but it still seemed sus. That was the first thing, second thing was that one of the beers we got served was expired by a full year and we didn't realize it until we were leaving. Not a big deal but you would think they would check that before they served it. We started off with chips and salsa (authentic). My wife went with the Chimichanga with cheese sauce. My friends wife went with the casada special taco fried taco phone. My friend went with basic corneal Asada taco. While I went with Steak Fajitas with all the fixing. The place had lots of flare even though it's really small inside. The parking is limited in front but it's not bad we all enjoyed our food. Not sure if they are Military Friendly. read more

Went with a party of 8 people and was not disappointed. Of note was the pineapple fajitas. Which is literally grilled inside of a half pineapple. Super delicious and unexpected! DISAPPOINTED!! I appreciate the struggles restaurants face in general and especially in today's market. However, I don't believe the struggles are a free pass to less than quality service. We dine at a variety of price points and food types. I try to gauge each on the merit of the meeting the expectation set by the locale and price point. It is rare that an experience leaves a bad taste, no pun intended, strong enough to rate less than acceptable. Tonight's experience earned that rare "unacceptable" review. I decided to do a category rating to keep it simple: Wait time 4/5 : it was "prime time FL dining " so we has a 20-minute (ish) wait...so reasonable Establishment/ Atmosphere 4/5: it was clean and well kept (dining room and restrooms). It is quite small with few options for large parties. Service 2/5: this is where it began going wrong. Our first interaction was with a young man who delivered the chips and salsa to our table. He practically threw them onto the table without even the smallest of greeting or acknowledgement of our greeting. Perhaps English wasn't his primary language, but a smile is bi-lingual. Our server was polite enough, although absent. An absence that prevented the ordering of a second round of bar drinks and perhaps dessert. I did mention his name because I suspect the issue was just understaffing and no server support. Food/Presentation 2/5: this is where it went really wrong. I ordered a margarita (National Margarita Day) and it was served in a water glass! Now this certainly doesn't warrant a bad review, but it is one of those things that just shouldn't happen (and a real pet peeve). The fresh made guacamole left a lot to be desired. My husband's entree was presented as expected, but was not particularly hot; more warm. Mine on the hand (Fajita) was literally smoking. I don't mean the sizzling skillet plate steaming hot I mean smoking. Smoking that caused coughing. Most of the peppers and onions were burnt black. Pricing 2/5: the price of the food and drinks were mid range, but for the service and quality they were over priced. I am not sure when Mexican restaurants decided the cardboard chips and Walmart salsa were too expensive to serve as table items, but limiting the complimentary to one basket/table seems a bit ridiculous, but it seems to be a trend. read more

This place was right across from our hotel, and our only option for dinner since we wanted something really close by. We walked over for an early dinner, and I ordered the carnitas and a beer which was buy one get one free for happy hour. At $3.50 that was a great deal! The carnitas plate had a goodly portion of meat, some rice, a teeny portion of charro beans in a monkey dish, a bit of pickled onions and jalapenos, and of course tortillas. I loved the beans and wished there had been more....the carnitas were both crispy and fatty and quite delicious. I enjoyed the meal and ate every bite! read more
