I ordered the "Normal Plate" which comes with steak, eggs, avocado, fried plantains, and queso fresco. Everything was delicious. The steak is advertised as ribeye but looked more like a strip to me, though honestly it was still well seasoned and cooked nicely so I wasn't complaining. Walter was the managers name. Our experience at Agavera was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. What should have been a simple family dinner turned into a hostile and completely unacceptable situation. The issue started when my 9-year-old son's order came out wrong. Instead of calmly helping resolve it, the server and manager argued directly with a child and refused to correct or take back the meal. The situation escalated unnecessarily, and the manager even threatened to call the police over a basic customer service complaint. At that point, we decided to pay our bill and leave, despite barely touching our food. Because of how poorly we were treated, we chose not to leave a tip. As we were walking out, things became even more shocking when there was physical contact made while exiting the restaurant. This restaurant is always consistent with taste and service. This is my third time attending here and the food is always hot and fresh. The servers always have different menu options to suggest if you are an indecisive person when it comes to food due to having so many options, this is the perfect price for you. Service was good but food was soggy and seemed to be microwaved. Had hard shelled tacos where the chicken was so so wet the shells were mush and couldn't be picked up to eat. This is a new restaurant in Austell. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy with high energy and cute decor. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. The food was good but not great. My husband and I agreed the chicken was a little bland. I would definitely return and try another dish on the extensive menu. Would have given them a 5, but the second time I came wasn't as good as the first. The first time was great. They do get super crowded and don't do reservations, but the area is big (they have a patio area that's enclosed during the winter & has heaters). They're in a plaza so ample free parking. Their menu is very extensive, but they really have something for everybody. The food was amazing the first time-- we ordered the burrito Tampico & the nachos. However the 2nd time, the rice had no flavor & was very hard. Their drinks situation is a bit annoying because their menu advertises all the margaritas available in different sizes, but it's only specific ones you can get in a larger size. None of this is on the menu & you literally have to ask what sizes you can have for your drink. Overall tho, I do enjoy the ambiance & even though it's loud, it's not overbearing (but they do go all out when it's somebody's birthday so be prepared for it to get louder for a few mins). read more

It was my first time here with my friends. We came here around 4pm on Sunday and we were seated immediately. They have a covered patio but we sat in the main dining area. We were greeted by our server immediately. She was very friendly and nice. We got our drinks in a timely manner as well as the appetizers. The margarita was great! The esquites were so tasty and I also loved how spicy the salsa was. The main entrees were also delicious and big portions. Very cool spot! We came by Saturday afternoon and service was fast. We were seated quickly, the waitress came by quickly, and took our orders promptly (we already knew what we wanted, we were HUNGRY). The staff was also very accommodating to moving seats around for my stroller. The molcajete is a fair price and big enough for two. The deluxe burrito was delicious! It was easy to cut into and the shredded chicken was very savory. They give you the option between shredded chicken or ground beef for this item. Overall it was a great experience. Great addition to Austell! From how busy it was for an early Friday dinner, I think it'll stay. I haven't been to the other locations son can't compare but the service and food were good. Agavero has cute decor and a nice patio with a big screen tv. I think there's a big screen by the bar too. The music was great too. Our table orders included a shrimp fajita, shrimp and fish enchilada, burrito ranchero with chicken, kids meal taco and burrito, and kids meal chicken nuggets as well as an order of queso. They provide the table with chips and salsa when you sit. Everyone envies their food. The shrimp was seasoned and cooked well. The chips were kind of tasteless but the salsa and queso were great. The best part of the night was the margaritas! Made just right. We each had different ones but they were great, not watered down like a lot of places. The only negative is the seating, especially at the rectangular tables right when you walk in. They need to get new chairs. They're so wide that it was hard for us to get in and out of out from the table. And just made the table feel cramped. We will be back, definitely for the videos. read more

Agavero Cantina has quickly become one of our regular spots. The food is always great, and they've got the best margaritas in town. The chips and salsa are always fresh and tasty. The staff is consistently friendly, which keeps us coming back. We were there last night and had Lysa as our server--she was awesome. Super friendly, attentive, and had great recommendations. She checked in just enough to make sure we were taken care of. The owner even stopped by our table for a quick, pleasant chat, which was a really nice touch. Last night we went again for like the 100 time. We ordered our food and a margarita. Everything was going well, even when the waitress only came once to asked if we were ok. The manager who is always rude to us and the owner went to every table to asked if everyone was ok, but as usual they ignored us and it was very obvious. We took my son and he was not happy because the place is extremely loud. The waitress came to asked if we wanted the bill which we thought it was rude because it felt like she was pushing us out. When I paid I put a 18% tip which it came to $17.25. She was not happy so the manager (his name is John) a dude who wears lots of make up told her to kicked us out. Her excuse was because they needed the table, but the patio was very empty and the inside was definitely empty and nobody was waiting for a table. Even if they were restaurants shouldn't kick you out because they don't like the tip. We are not going back. read more

I came in solo, wanted a 'Rita and something to knock the edge off. I knew the name from their store out in Gwinnett, but my first time here. Alex was my server, and she was outstanding! Excellent menu recommendations (I went with the chicken chiliquilles, so good!), introduced me to two off-menu salsas (better like hot 'n spicy, but lord the flavors!), and treated me like I was the only one in the building (at 5:15p, you know I wasn't!). I love Mexican food so, I was very excited that a new restaurant was opening in my area. Regrettably my first and last visit was horrible. The waiter was very miss leading in an attempt to get more money out of us for his tip. My girlfriend asked for the chimichanga with chicken.The waiter then asked, what kind of chicken as if she had a choice. However, she didn't have a choice. The other option was a $4.95 up charge that he said nothing about. She ordered a strawberry margarita which was $13 however, he charged us $16 for an Infused margarita. We asked for more of the cheese sauce for her dish and he said ok but, nothing was said about the extra $4.95. I ordered tacos and he said , rice and beans ? I said sure but, nothing was said about the extra $3.95. I did Apple Pay and he went through everything so, fast that I saw nothing so, I texted it to myself. Then he's going to roll his eyes because I changed the tip amount. Now, I believe in tipping however, I do not believe that the person eating the steak should pay more than the person eating the chicken salad. When we're both receiving the same service. I tip based on the service you provide not by how much food I eat. When my girlfriend spoke to the manager who's job is to make things better, he actually made it worst. He pretty much said ...well you ate it , so it's only fair that you pay for it. Who cares that my waiter wasn't transparent and looked for ways to over charge you. As a manager, you have to listen and understand the experience your customer had at your restaurant. Why would she come back inside if we knew about the charges or if we were ok with them ?
