We've been here several times before and liked the food enough to return. I'll start with the "real good". Iris was an exceptional server. Above and beyond the call of duty as we saw her hosting, serving us and others and washing glasses behind the bar. This visit today was not their best attempt at keeping us as return customers. The food left a lot to be desired. My wife had the chicken fajitas. Which was very greasy, totally flavorless and had almost no chicken. She asked for salsa verde to help dash it up, that didn't work so the request for Jalapenos went next. All this to say, nothing she did made it more palatable. Barely started the dish and it remained ed on the hot plate until we left. I had the Pollo Adobe. Chicken was tough, sauce/taste was a 6 out of 10. We told the manager about the fajita dish and he deducted it without question. While they were accommodating, if it were not for Iris, it would have been a total flop. Food is good, not great just good. The service is that of a typical busy establishment. Slow to come take the order, but mildly fast to push it out (almost as if it was pre-prepared/not fresh). The ambience is vibrant. Many colors. My downside is the price! Within the last two years they've raised the prices incredibly so that to feed 2-5 people with an appetizer it's nearly $60-90! That's ridiculous. I could go to a higher class establishment and spend money like that there and feel like better about the meal if that makes any sense.. like for example: better decor, freshly prepared food, intimate ambiance better plating, exquisite tasting etc. This restaurant feels fast-food-like to me and the pricing should match. I have always promoted this place and have told numerous people to come here. I invited my friends to come and told them how good it was. The pitcher of Texas margaritas was 24.00. It was all mix. I requested a glass of tequila to help the margarita and was billed another 24.00! So our not good margarita was 48.00!! I mentioned to the server who still left it on the bill! This restaurant has outstanding food and the nicest staff. We get great service and have not had a bad meal. They have daily specials and sometimes have live music. The music is a bit loud but everyone is having fun. Plenty of tables so we have never had to wait. Great local place for busy folks looking for a good meal. read more

When Agaves first opened, I really liked it. The food was good. Portions were good. I usually ordered the chili poblanos, because it's something I never make at home. They used to be really good, but the last time I had them, the breading was literally an inch thick! There was no extra sauce. I hadn't been back until Saturday afternoon. The menu is considerably smaller. I ordered the Enchiladas Supremas. It came with regular enchilada sauce. Hubby ordered the Enchiladas with a green sauce. It was flavorful; however, I got home, started feeling like I was getting an upset stomach and shortly thereafter, I literally projectile vomited!!! Something was definately wrong with the sauce. I felt fine afterwards, so it wasn't the flu! They took away all of the tvs except the ones at the bar and replaced them with lighted wall hangings. I'm not sure why. We didn't get any utensils or napkins, so I had to ask for them. The hostess had minimal understanding of the English language, but she did direct another young lady to get us napkins. The gal gave the napkins to the table behind us. I asked again for utensils. The same gal tried giving the utensils to that same other table! When they said that they already had utensils, she walked right by us to put the utensils back! I had to ask a third time for utensils and napkins. I'm so disappointed! I try to support the local business, but in this case, it will be a very long time (if ever) before I go back. I will say that the waiters and waitresses have always been very friendly, but puking after eating is not my idea of a good time. I question the cleanliness of the kitchen. read more

I ordered from this restaurant on 03/08/2023 through the website. Went to pick up, was told they never received my order, and it was cancelled and money will be refunded. No money refunded, and I keep getting the run around with them. One of the staff hung up on me several times. I always order and never complained, but this time, I'm pissed. You keep my money, but never received the product. My attorney will be in contact, because I have my bank statement and text messages that it was cancelled. read more

Gave this place a second chance, since it's "under new management", but can't say much for it. The beef in the burrito a la roquette was tough and dry - the only redeeming part being the sauce topping the burritos. I had hoped for more, considering the new owners also own Papasito's, but am sadly disappointed. Guess I'll have to stick with my favorites - Si Senor in Westlake and Fiesta Cancun in Vermilion. Shoutout Agaves for being a real dope spot. I had to wait in the parking lot for 6 hours to get a covid test and in the mist of my miserable day the golden taco gods came down and blessed me with the best authentic tacos in Lorain county. Just at my weakest moments and I was about to lay my life to rest at the 5 and a half hour marker, I heard this faint salsa music playing and the doors swung wide open with fog and strobe lights blazing. It was like I was walking into heaven. And when they served me my tacos on a golden platter I was finally at inner peace with the world. read more

I have had many orders from here and they have been inconsistent with ingredients . one example is the choripollo the first 3 times I ordered it did not include rice and beans the last time it did. unfortunately the beans were mixed in. when I called they dismissed it and blamed it on the previous orders and that they just made it wrong. other times there were just different vegetables mixed in. they also run a food truck and reviews I have received from some of the local breweries have not been great. Save your money and visit a different local Mexican joint. read more
