On a cold and rainy day, my sister and I happened to venture into Agli Alboretti not long after they opened and able to snag a table with no problem. It was a good thing we arrived when we did because it didn't take long for the place to fill up and we saw multiple people who did not have a reservation be turned away at the door. Located near the bridge leading to the Academy, the restaurant is located inside an adjoining hotel.
The space is very cozy and the staff friendly and fast. We ordered three separate dishes-a primi, a pasta dish, and then a main meat entree. For the price, the serving sizes were a bit smaller than would be ideal and none of the three dishes were particularly mind-blowing. The primi couse, a pork served over a mustard based sauce and topped with a jam was the best despite the pork being a bit tough and the dish only consisting of three littled bite sized pieces. The pasta course, I was over after a few bites because it just had too much going on. There was shredded pork, a spinach pasta sauce, a sweet raspberry sauce, a cream based sauce, and more. The flavors all combined to be not so great. The final main meat entree was beef filet served on top of a fried potato piece with a cheese crisp on top of the beef. When you had a portion of each flavor element in your bite it was pretty good but not something I would go out of my way to have again.
Overall, while the presentation of the dishes was appealing, the taste and price left something to be desired. It won't be the worst place you dine in Venice but it certainly won't be the best read more
