We happen upon this restaurant on our visit to Washington DC. The granddaughter thought it looked adventurous and she loves the foodie adventure so we went in. It turns out to be a tapas style restaurant, so we ordered some hummus and saganaki. the lighting of the cheese did not disappoint and the grandkids were amazed. We ordered several more plates, including kebabs, mixed mushrooms. Pita and the olive oil was amazing. But I think our favorite was the Monti. Little meat dumplings in an amazing sour cream yogurt sauce. At least I think that's what it was. We were there as strange time after a flight. Too late for lunch and too early for dinner, but before grocery shopping for our week in DC. But the folks were friendly and the waiter was great. Pricey! Honestly, I love this place. As a pseudo-regular visitor to DC, brunch at Agora is always on my itinerary. The food is so ridiculously good and for brunch it just keeps coming. The staff is efficient and friendly (and so attractive, but I digress). If I were to nitpick, the hummus is a little pine nut heavy for my ideal, but that's like saying, "the sex was good, but there weren't the right quantity of rose petals on the bed." Delightful Mediterannean / Turkish brunch spot with great food, lovely drinks (of both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety), and fantastic service. I came with a fairly large (~15 people) group on Saturday morning for their bottomless brunch, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. Before we even arrived at the restaurant, Agora was amazingly accommodating and supportive -- we did a terrible job of planning and ended up needing to make a reservation just a few days before our planned brunch, but Agora's staff was incredibly patient and worked with us to find a time and space for us. Once we arrived, we were warmly greeted and directed to a giant table in their beautifully decorated upstairs dining room. Although we had the option to order individual items, we opted to let the server control the flow of our food, sending out waves of a series of plates that we could all share. The initial course of dips, spreads, and other appetizers was incredible, especially their hummus and smoked salmon. The entrees, which included savory options like omelettes and eggs benedicts, and sweet dishes like their gorgeous french toast, were all delightful as well. The staff was also incredibly accommodating of dietary restrictions -- I'm dairy-free, gluten-free, and pescatarian, and the restaurant was, admittedly, not particularly prepared to handle someone with so many restrictions, but our server worked with me to make sure that I had plenty of things to eat. Instead of pita, I was given fresh cucumber and carrot slices to sample their dips (mainly the hummus and acuka) with, and they removed cheese and bread from the entrees (i.e., a salmon eggs benedict without the English muffin, or a veggie omelette without cheese). It definitely wasn't the conventional Agora brunch experience, but I still loved everything and was just all-around so grateful that they were willing to swap things out for me. All in all, I could not recommend Agora enough -- $48 may be a steep price point for brunch, but you absolutely get your money's worth. The food is delicious, they have a great selection of drinks for the brunch (and if you aren't into alcohol, there are plenty of amazing alternatives, including their Turkish coffee and tea), and the service and ambiance and both incredible. This will definitely be one of my new favorite spots in Dupont! read more

I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Agora in early September. The space has been recently renovated and the atmosphere for dinner was very elegant. We dined inside and it was the perfect date night spot We each had a cocktail, I ordered the "Instabul bey" which is tequila based and it was lovely. For food we ordered the following; Warm goat cheese Mixed cheese flat bread (pideler) Borek Brussel sprouts Scallops And of course allll the pita bread! Each dish was super delicious. I really liked how the Brussels sprouts had a tahini drizzle and also paired with blackberries. The flavors were very complimentary. I have been eyeing this place for some time now. Finally made reservations recently for a friends bday brunch. This place was packed on a busy Saturday and there was a line out the door. We went for the bottomless brunch. It came with unlimited dishes including Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Some of the starters here were delicious. The truffled eggs, tabbouleh, smoked salmon and htipiti. Very strong Mediterranean and Turkish flavors. They have an extensive list of egg or eggs benedict dishes as well. We loved the salmon, kiymali benedicts, and the kavurmali fried eggs. Service here was great. We let our server bring out what ever she felt was best for our palette. After noticing a lot of egg and spreads we asked her to switch to more dishes with meat and she was quick to oblige. Even with a packed top floor filled with plenty of diners we got our food rather quickly and had 0 issues with any plates. This is a great place to enjoy some quality brunch options. A delicious Mediterranean meal! My roommate and I stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. They were quite busy so we were fully prepared to be turned away and go find somewhere else to eat, but the hostess was determined to find us a table and so we were seated! It's the type of place where you ordered lots of dishes to share, which I love because it means you get to try so many things! We started with the hummus and saganaki, both of which were delicious! We definitely ate some hummus by the spoonful after running out of pita and I think you all should do the same. Saganaki is always fun because you get to watch cheese be lit on fire, but also it was a very tasty saganaki. After those starters we had the peynirli semsek flatbread and the grilled chicken. The flatbread was good, but the chicken was amazing. It was well-flavored and extremely juicy. The decor and vibe of this place was also great, especially at dinner time when you can really appreciate good lighting. We'll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu and perhaps to ask where they bought their light fixtures and decor :) read more

It's been a minute since I last visited Agora so I'm pumped to tell you more about their lunch menu today.  They have an expansive covered patio, but their interior's newly renovated for those who'd like to dine indoors.  As for food options, there's a lot to choose from.  Their portions are SO much bigger than they were so keep that in mind when ordering.  I went with a friend, and we got way too much for the two of us.  It was actually borderline startling how much food we got, lol. You can't skip spreads ($8-9 a pop) so get at least one for the table or maybe even their sampler if you're with a group.  I'm a sucker for labneh so that's my dip of choice, but they do a mean hummus and baba ghanouj as well. Everything's served with freshly baked pita, and it's usually piping hot, which is a big win in my book. I remember LOVING their octopus, but they were sold out so that means I need to go back ASAP.  Everything was solid so it's hard to pick favorites, but I especially loved their mixed mushrooms, lamb chops and grilled squid.  They used like 6 different mushrooms for the medley, and the flavors were really on point.  This made for the ultimate "side," and I'd 200% get this again. The lamb could've been a little more tender, but it had this beautiful smokiness to it that I loved.  Portions were also huge so that was a plus for sure, and it came on a big bed of broccolini.  Definitely make sure to either get a side of toum or harissa for this!  It'll enhance your meal tenfold, and it's only an extra buck or two! read more

Amazing food with laidback and friendly vibes. We had dinner sitting in the outdoor patio, and the summer breeze coupled with the soft overhead lights made for a perfect summer night in DC. COVID PRECAUTIONS: All our silverware and plates were covered in plastic wrap, which gave the impression that they take cleanliness very seriously. Tables were situated at least 6 feet away, and our waitress wore a mask and gloves. We felt very comfortable and safe dining outdoors. FOOD: Everything was five stars. The grilled chicken was roasted perfectly and had a subtle, smoky flavor. The actual meat was tender and juicy. The scallops were incredible. Sitting on a bed of delicious saffron yogurt, they had a beautiful sear on the outside and literally melted in my mouth. The ottoman rice, which included apricots, almonds, pine nuts, and shallots, was extremely flavorful. Not to get TOO sentimental, but it reminded me of a grandmother's old recipe-- filled with love and a sense of home. We topped everything off with their baklava. Absolutely amazing!! This was one of the first restaurants I visited after moving to DC and it really set the standard. The venue itself was very chic and classy. I found myself admiring the interior decor for most of my stay. The service was also great! The food itself was incredible. This is one of those restaurants where everything on the menu looked incredible. The menu itself also had a wide range of dishes to choose from. they recommend ordering family style so we ordered the grilled chicken, the semsek flatbread , the sagnaki, and the hummus. I came here for the all you can eat brunch and I am so happy I finally tried this place. It is a family style type of brunch which felt so unique and I absolutely loved it. They first came with a bunch of appetizers to share with the table and everything was delicious. My personal favorite was the greek yogurt with honey. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. If you ate it with the roasted red pepper sauce... it was an explosion of flavor in your mouth. I ordered the salmon egg benedict for my main and it was great. The salmon was perfectly smoked and the yolk was runny. Honestly, by this point I ate so much that I was so full, but I still finished it. Another one of my favorites was the french toast. It was perfectly sweet and if you paired it with the yogurt sauce it made it 100 times better. Another favorite of mine was the deviled eggs. They were simple, but something about a creamy egg for brunch was perfect. I absolutely loved the service here. Everything came so quickly and honestly they just kept the food coming. One of my favorites in DC! Agora's Mediterranean food is a great place to share small plates and get high quality, unique meals. Free flatbread and a chopped olive dip is given to each table. Their flatbreads plates are amazing with fun flavors, with the mixed cheese flatbread being my favorite (goat cheese, dates, tomatoes, and more). The real showstopper here is the grilled octopus though. It's a must if you come here! The cocktails here are also fun flavors and unique combinations. Ever since I moved to the neighborhood, this has been my reliable go-to restaurant that I keep coming back to. I can never get enough of their food! The restaurant is busy so if you order meat, the wait is long so it's best to put that order in when you order your drinks. My friend ordered the Branzino and the little piece I had it was amazing. The seasonings on that fish were just right. I'm not sure if I would come back. Honest review: Came here for brunch with a few of my girlfriends. The place was nice but we were sitting outside on a hot day. Food: the spreads were pretty good, the bread was delicious. I loved their sausage from turkey and the bread that tasted like pizza. The hummus was a little flavorless. The eggs... I can only say they needed salt because they had no flavor. The drinks: I had a mint lemonade because I wasn't drinking, but it was really good and refreshing. My friends had mimosas and they were complaining how warm they were. I was expecting the jar to be left at the table but they only came around once in a while to refill. I ordered a water and it came 20 minutes later. Overall I had a good time but I don't see myself coming back. Please add a wider variety of dishes to your brunch because it was too much eggs and it was disappointing, also maybe get some sauces to add some flavor to the eggs.
