This tiny little spot in downtown Fayetteville is such a gem. It was just us for a very early dinner. We got our food really fast and the service was perfect to where we felt checked on, but not too over our heads the food was hot and fresh and tasted good the next day as we had leftovers, we had a hummus plate, but we ate it all before I could take a photo. I do wish the prices were a little bit less however we did go at dinner time and that is pretty typical for the area. The food is pretty authentic and I had no complaints. read more

I waited just a few minutes for my food and it came out fresh. However, I was not super impressed by the taste, quantity, or quality. I really was expecting more, but did not get it this time at Agora. The food was just okay, with a lack of seasoning, spice, and just something special. The two saving graces was the fresh gyro meat and customer service. The meat was super fresh and partnered so well with the veggies and salad. However, everything else just missed it for me. The customer service was on point as I was warmly greeted and welcomed from when I entered the restaurant and when I excited. I am kind of unsure if I would come back just based on the foot quality. Located on the main strip of historic Fayetteville with on street parking right in front of the restaurant that is free on saturday & sunday. This location has indoor & outdoor seating available. Upon entering there is a nice bar set up with a view of part of the kitchen so you can clearly see them shaving the delicious lamb (my favorite!). The beer menu has some great choices but dont expect there to be any "craft" selections. I got a German pilsner & a russian baltika to drink and for food had the gyro with lamb & beef/side greek salad. I always wonder at these places how much actual lamb is being served, but overall I have no complaints about my serving portion, taste and service which were all superb. Be sure to go for a walk after eating to admire the history that this town has to offer! read more

We went here on Halloween. It wasn't busy because everyone was busy with the downtown trick or treat event. Which was good for us. We were seated right away. The chef was our waiter and our cook. We got drinks right away. Just FYI their drinks are not from a drink fountain they serve cans with a cup of ice. They also serve alcohol if your looking for some wine or beer. We also started with an appetizer. They didn't have the baba ganoush the eggplant dish. They were out of it, that was disappointing. We got the dolma instead - grape leaves. This was by far the best grape leaves I've had. I attribute that to them not being as bitter. It was nice that it was topped off with sour cream. My husband got the Alexander which was basically gyro meat on top of chopped up pita topped with a spicy sauce. He loved it! I got the chicken skewers. You can choose from either rice or salad. I got rice but I wish it came with a small side salad too. Their rice tasted like butter rice - it was great! The chicken was cooked perfectly! Moist and not dry... and nicely browned on the outside. A delightful experience The hours cater to every walk of life. And the men behind the counter are prior service. To say this restaurant fills every billet would be an understatement. The food, words cannot describe. A painters pallet of flavors and ingredients. Sweet, salty, creamy and overall delicious. The ambiance is something old school. We came on Tuesday evening at approximately 6pm and the waitress was kind enough to let us know that they we're out of hummus, one of the salads, rice, and lamb. We we're fortunate to order the Agora House Mixed Grill that feeds 2 people for $24.99. It was delicious, with meats such as grilled chicken, gyro, beef with a pile of pita and a side salad Greek salad. It taste fresh, was very filling and was plenty of food for 2 people. See photo. We noticed that customers that came in after us we're told that they no longer had any food to serve at the restaurant. This might be seen as a Pro that they have fresh ingredients and don't stock pile their products or a Con that the restaurant is not prepared to serve customers with adaquent amount of food. We also noticed that the food was made to order, short of the gyro that was roasting on the oven, which means yes, we did have to wait for our food to cook, but I much rather have that then cold or pre-heated food. Overall, the waitress was very nice, and it appeared as though there was only one cook, being it is an open kitchen. The food taste great, there is a wait for them to cook the food, and there is a possibility that they may run out of food before you even get there, but I'd come back. Its a gamble based on the time of day you come to the restaurant. read more

I have been to Agora twice. The first time I ordered the lamb chops and my friend and I shared the meal because it was so much food. Service was excellent, they explained the dish very well and convinced us to try Turkish coffee which was made deliciously. The second time I went to Agora, I ordered the same order to go and was surprised to have rice and only 5 chops. For $40 I wished I had received the exact amount of food I had received my first time there. The food also did not taste as good as our first visit. Well I don't even know where to start on our TERRIBLE experience. 1. Upon arrival we didn't get greeted didn't know if we got seated or sat on our own. But after we asked two people it's a sit yourself place. 2. Waiter allegedly wrote down our order but he kept coming back for more questions about our order. Mind you it was only 4 people. 3. We kept seeing our food being brought out to other people but us and once the people said it wasn't their order he took it to the back waited a few seconds and then served it to us. I saw him do this. 4. Order took over 45 min to come out to the wrong table 5. He brought out appetizers with food and gave one of our appetizers to the other table so we never got it 6. Waiter never apologized never seemed to care don't know what was wrong with him 7. Once the bill came the receipt just said prices and no item description NOTHING just bunch of zeros and then the price so we don't really know what we paid for. We paid the bill didn't even complain because we were so angry that we just wanted to get out. The two stars is ONLY because the food was ok; honestly if maybe the service wasn't terrible I guess we would maybe consider going back but after having a lunch take over an hour for food to come out and be served to the wrong table we have will never go back. read more
