We had the Lamb Shank special on Fri/Sat. I don't know if this is an every week thing, but it's a must try. The lamb just fell off the bone and was very moist and tender. The plate came with a bowl of the stock it is slow cooked in. Drizzle this over the shank & rice for just another layer of flavor. There were so many different spices and multiple textures that added so much to this dish. I even dipped my pita bread in the stock. Even the side salad was delicious. It was fresh and flavorful. A very nice bite after the rich lamb. You should try this place. If I didn't live over 1,000 miles away, I would be a regular. The two of us to have two sandwiches, and two fountain drinks for a total of $28. The cups for the fountain drinks were small, and the sandwich was not that big. so in terms of value, pretty disappointing. I asked some questions to the girl behind the counter, there was one customer who was eating a sandwich in the corner, otherwise we were the only customers in there. I'm a big guy with a loud voice, but somehow she didn't hear me. I asked again, being much louder and she just pointed at the menu. I told her I was trying to find out about additional things that they had. Frankly, I was amazed how limited their menu was. The only sides that were available with our sandwiches were french fries. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and agreed it at the counter. The restaurant is a very clean and comfortable. They have small plates, as well as platters, and a nice variety of desserts. The baklava came in huge slices. I ordered the Kufta kebab platter and made two meals out of it. The salad was fresh, and the meat was very flavorful with a little bit of a kick to it. We opted to dine in, you walk up to the counter and the menu is hanging in front of you on monitors. To my surprise this is one of the first kabob places I have been to where they DO NOT have combination plates! You can add a 2nd meat to your meal but no presets! I've ate at ALOT of kabob spots so this was def a downfall to me. Another downfall was that the meal didn't come with Naan ! Not sure how this could be legal ! I opted for the lamb kabob plate, comes with salad, chickpeas, and rice. The rice was pretty standard. The salad had waaayyyyy too many red onions, and I'm a lover of onions but it overpowered the salad. My lamb was very tender and tasty. This seems to be one of the few kabob places in the Fayetteville area. It had a lot of great reviews. However, also does not seem to have much competition. I've passed this place numerous times and have always wanted to try it. Today I came in and placed a to go order and I can say it did not disappoint not one bit. From the appearance of the establishment to the friendly staff upon first entering I was very blown away by just that. The owner took my order at the counter, answered all my questions, and even told me about all the renovations he had made to the place. You can tell he really cares about his restaurant and is passionate about the food he sells which automatically made me realize that the food would be amazing prior to receiving it. I got all my food to go and when I got in my car to open up the to-go trays, all I can say is that they put so much care into the appearance of the food from the hummus to the small salad in my box everything was garnished and freshly made. It is Chistmas Eve 2021, me and the wife were trying to go somewhere to eat before the weekend lockdown of Christmas and decided that we would try something that wouldn't affect the traditional Christmas day meal. We decided to go to a well known local Mediterranean cuisine restaurant but they were closing about 20 minutes after we arrived. Not wanting to interrupt whatever Christmas Eve plans they may have had by overstaying past their closing time, I remembered a place I had passed in the previous weeks. We arrived at Afghan Kabob and saw that they were open. This place was very clean and orderly. Never seen a place have a 100% health inspection rating before. Very interesting. Just a few portraits on the wall and a nicely kept dining area was all there was to it. We ordered a chicken kabob plate for the wife, and a beef kabob plate for myself. While waiting for the freshly made food to arrive I read the Fayetteville Observer's article close to the door. Very interesting...the owner had set up a take away restaurant in Afghanistan at Kandahar Airfield on the boardwalk. This told me that I was not going to be disappointed because I had actually had his food in KAF years before when I was passing through and really liked it. Sure enough, it was as I remembered (or how I thought I remembered) and I told my wife about my memories. She enjoyed it as much as I did. I wish the owners and staff (April?? ,, who was very accommodating and checked on us) continuing success. I for one will be returning when I need my fix of traditional Afghan cuisine. Just one more thing...With this being Christmas and all that, the owner let the only other person (April???), who was working there at that time, clock out to go home and "spend time with your family" while he held down the business by himself. I wanted this experience to be good. Even after being on hold for about 10 minutes then being hung up on (hint #1 not to eat there), then being on hold for about 20 minutes, all the way up to telling them to hang up on me because I was already there (hint #2), then being told that they don't carry an Afghan restaurant staple that is listed on their menu (hint #3), and this was the first time across three continents that an Afghan restaurant did not have at least one Afghan working there (hint #4), I still ordered. They do not have a full Afghan menu, pretty much just kabobs, and falafel (which isn't even Afghan). So I ordered a kafta (shemi) kabob, it came with kabuli rice and chick peas. The chick peas were way too sweet, the rice had no Seasoning and the kabob was horrible. The picture I've attached didn't really do justice to how bad it really was.
