So disappointed in this experience last night. Normally, the service is spot on but I am beginning to believe that with COVID, restaurants are no longer focused on the customer experience. It has been about a good 10 years since I have tipped less than 15%. Last night, this dude should be lucky he got a flat $5 tip. Let me start. 1. Waiter was supposed to bring us water but forgot. 2. Waiter brought one Sprite instead of two. 3. Server brings us our appetizers but our waiter failed to provide us silverware. 3. Went here last night after work just in time for happy hour! This was my first time going-I was thoroughly impressed. We had Omar as a waiter and his customer service was impeccable! We sat outside and the atmosphere was great, the food was wonderful and the guacamole was super fresh and creamy ....everything we ordered on the menu all had good flavor and was wonderful to our palate! The food is hit or miss here so that's why I couldn't give them 5 stars. I think they had a change in their kitchen in the last year and food started coming out bland and underwhelming. Yeah, it's okay. But I'm saying that after having one dish - the chicken huarache. I've huaraches before and his one was little hard. The bread is normally softer and tastier. This was a bit hard and dry and tasteless. The ingredients on top were good but the bread is the main thing. The side of guacamole was GREAT! And the service was good. I guess they play a trivia game on Monday nights, gets a bit loud but fun to play if that's your thing. I won't be going back. Lots of restaurants in the big city, no time to waste eating just okay food. My guest LOVED the mole. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in DC I've been there for brunch and dinner and is delicious , the brunch menu has variety I recommend the steak and eggs and you have to try the pumpkin pancakes!!! I also recommend any guacamole, any ceviche, the pork belly tacos, bistec tacos, the empanadas, and the pesto salmon you also must try the pisco sour. You have to hit up happy hour here, for a few reasons. The first reason is the pretty wide selection of happy hour margaritas and beer. They're all pretty damn good. More importantly, the happy hour menu is honestly one of the better ones in DC, specifically in terms of price, portion size, and selection of items. The happy hour guac was GIANT, and was only $7. This wasn't a processed squishy guac that has been purchased the previous day at Costco either -- it was chinky, fresh, and perfectly spicy. There are a few different taco options, nachos, and flautas. The flautas were also quite large, and the way it was plated honestly could have helped it pass as a main entree. I'm hoping to come for the full dinner menu soon, but in the meantime, pop on down to Navy Yard for their happy hour. read more

Discovered this spot a few weeks ago when looking for places in SE to get a boozy brunch. SO glad we came! The food was great, the view was beautiful, and the service was fantastic! We were seated outside and all opted in to the bottemless brunch. I was so glad that the mimosas weren't 3 parts OJ and 1 part champagne! My only critiicism is that you had to choose either mimosa, bloody, or one of the other bottomless deals. Would have been fun to mix it up! The guac was awesome as was the refilled chips :) I had the mexican omelette which was the perfect blend of spicy and breakfast...something I think is hard to pull off. We drove to DC for an impromptu visit. Ended up having a late dinner with an old friend who lives near Yards Park. Which is a gorgeous backdrop if you're eating on the patio, and we did. Everything was very tasty, the crab guacamole, the fish tacos, chicken empanadas (our friend ordered some chicken wings that were not on the menu and they were good too). Even my frozen peach sangria was enjoyable... But the service! The waiter was super nonchalant and while he was not out right rude, he was not attentive. It took way too long to get even water. The chips and salsa were an obvious after thought for him to bring to us and the drinks took so long that they came out with the food. Maybe it was an off night. Enjoyed celebrating a last minute birthday lunch here.. they started us off with chips and very spicy salsa. Most of my party couldn't handle it and it was strange they would not even tell us the salsa was so spicy considering there was a child at the table. We ordered the guacamole and cheese dip appetizers. Cheese dip was different.. it was a whipped dip, never had that before. The Baja tacos were my favorite omg so delicious they did not disappoint. My main complaint was the hostess service.. they were not very welcoming or communicative. Another Gem for happy hour dates with bae. We came here around 5:30 and decided to sit outside for HH. Our server greeted us immediately and got our orders together (we didn't need time,we were hungry) . My server brought us waters and the chips n dip..which were bomb. The server also brought me and my boo separate salsa cups (which I appreciated cuz he dips too much) lol. I ordered everything off the happy hour menu, 2x wings, 2x chicken tacos, and 2x margaritas.. Drinks came out and were really good and for 7 bucks I couldn't complain. The chicken tacos in my opinion were ok.. my boo loved them.we both loved the wings, so much so I ordered another round (only down side is they have no ranch or blue cheese) real authentic mexican vibes. My waiter kept checking on us, there was about to be a storm but for some reason we never got rained on.. We finished off our meals with additional margaritas and finished off with a total of 64 plus tip. 1. I do not recommend this restaurant. The negatives of our experience outweighed the positives and DC has many other restaurants more worthy of your business. 2. The hostess greeted us warmly and quickly brought us to our table - we had an opentable reservation. Positive. 3. Our table was not wiped down from the previous party and it had not been reset with silverware. We had to ask for silverware. Two negatives. 4. Our server greeted us quickly and with a smile. She took our drink and appetizer orders immediately. For an appetizer, we ordered the Queso Fundido with chorizo. My wife ordered the frozen peach sangria and I ordered a traditional margarita. Positive. 5. Our server brought our drinks and the complimentary chips and salsa promptly. Our drinks met our expectations. Positive. 6. The chips and salsa. The salsa portion was small and the salsa didn't have much flavor. Many of the chips had soggy edges/sections. We couldn't tell if the sogginess was because the chips were old or if the server spilled water on them during the delivery. Two negatives - which really should be an easy homerun for any Mexican restaurant. Getting the chips and salsa right seems pretty fundamental. 7. We waited a while for the Queso Fundido. While we waited, the table next to us shared with us that they had been waiting a while for their meals. Later in the meal, we heard another table near us complain that they had asked for more chips and salsa "awhile ago" and the server brought them their check instead. I'll sum up the service below but needless to say it was a negative overall. 8. When the Queso Fundido finally arrived (not delivered by our server) it didn't have the chorizo we had ordered with it. It also looked very unappetizing - essentially, it was a plate of melted, clumpy cheese with an oily film and some green drizzle over onions on top. Three (rather than an even number for a party of two) small tortillas accompanied it. Small appetizer plates for my wife and me were nonexistent so we had to ask for those. Multiple negatives. 9. We were starving so we tried the Queso. It had the consistency of silly putty and was very oily. Putting it on the provided plain tortillas did not help it. Another negative. Eventually our server came around to check on us and apologized for the missing chorizo. She said she would put in a new order of it and it would be on the house - but it would probably come with our main meals. We said thank you. Positive for the offer of a complimentary Queso - negative for the intended execution. Who wants the new appetizer with the main meal? Especially after we had already eaten the unappetizing first edition out of sheer hunger? 10. We waited some more. Our main meals finally arrived. No sign of the new Queso with chorizo order so I told our server we didn't need it. More negatives. 11. My wife had ordered 1 pork taco and 1 chicken taco. She received 1 order of pork tacos (2 tacos) and 1 order of chicken tacos (2 tacos). Another negative. 12. I had ordered the steak medium rare. Some portions of it seemed more rare than medium rare and, again, the presentation overall was unappetizing. More negatives. 13. All in all, the service was friendly but didn't otherwise meet expectations. The food looked unappetizing and the taste failed to meet expectations, too. Thus, this review - which is too bad because we live in the Yards and we really want to support and be proud of our neighborhood restaurants. For $35 per person, I don't expect 5-star service or the best tasting/looking food in world. For that price, though, it seems reasonable to expect the fundamentals. Especially when so many other restaurants in DC deliver on the fundamentals. Did we catch them on a bad night? Maybe. Will we give them a second chance? Probably not. Again - too many other choices out there getting it right to risk another $70, unappetizing experience. If you had a better experience, good on you. read more

Ive been here several times as i live in the neighborhood. They have a good hh special with discount drinks and food. The tacos are decent. I like the fish tacos but sometimes a little greasy. The chips are fresh and endless. The guacamole is ok, nothing special.the salsa that comes with is good, not too spicy. Service is also hit or miss. Sometimes feel rushed and others very friendly. ***Happy Hour Review Only**** I visited here after hanging out for a bit at the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival. We were easily able to grab two seats at the bar around 6pm on a Saturday. Bonus points for Agua: HH is 3:30-7 every day of the week! It is just drinks on weekends but still, the deals are pretty good. I had two Port City Optimal Wits-one of my fav summertime beers-at the cost of only$4 (maybe it was $4.50 I'm a bit foggy on the details) each. The margs-of which my partner had 2-were $6 each and, to quote him "stronger than the ones I usually get at Chevys when you have night class". While that is not a ringing endorsement, I did try a few sips and I can concur-not overly sweet and quite strong. Before we even ordered drinks, complimentary chips and salsa were given to us. Yay for free chips because that's getting harder to find these days! They were ok, I'd have been displeased if we had paid for them. The salsa was on the runnier side but had a nice kick. Our service started out being attentive but then fell off during the course of our stay. I, and this is no fault of the bartender, was appalled when a woman that came in right after us to place a to-go order asked (right in front of us!) if the bartender could place her order before taking our drink order because she "had someone waiting in the car". I was severely annoyed by that-and not to mention she had 51 million questions to ask before she even started to order so we were already sitting there forever before our drink order was finally taken! Being behind a customer that has no regard for his or her fellow patrons is aggravating to say the least. We did look at the menu to possibly eat here, but nothing really jumped out at us. I thought there would be more taco options and we were expecting more range-burritos, tamales, etc. It was a lot of small plates or large plates but not traditional Mexican at all. Excellent Establishment!! The servers were sooooo friendly and accommodating and the food was just as good!! The wait staff was very knowledgeable and great at helping us decide what we would like best. This was my first time at The Yards in DC and I was highly impressed. Amazing view of the water and park. I ordered the steak and eggs, the steak was cooked PERFECTLY! We also had the crab guacamole and that was a table HIT!! It was very dry and the omelette was rubbery. Not edible at all. I had 2 bites. The michelada was basically an overpriced modelo beer with a dusting of seasoning. Atmosphere was chaotic and not enjoyable. This place gets 2 stars for the views but nothing else. It felt like a tourist trap. read more

I was reluctant to try Agua 301 due to its poor reviews. However, I was planning brunch with a vegan friend and they had something that she could order. So, we gave it a try. I ordered chilliquiles, which I'd been craving for months. They were delicious. We also partook in the bottomless mimosas. As the day wore on they became almost pure champagne. We didn't complain. Although the service was slow at times, our glasses were rarely empty over the 2.5 hours that we sat on the patio, which more than made up for it. I've fallen off my brunch game as I've gotten older. She looked confused when we asked about it, and then said it would be "right out." 10 minutes later, nothing. We finally canceled it. Because our food took so long, we missed the first inning of the Nats game. Not cool. A mid-week lunch shouldn't take 2 hours. The food we did get was mediocre at best. The tuna tacos were overcooked and basically ruined. The corn tortillas with the tacos were tasteless and soggy; all the toppings fell out. The salsa was eh. The guac was way too acidic (too much lime?). The bathroom was also kinda gross for noon; toilet paper was everywhere--all over the floor. It was a below average experience all around. read more

When all others fail Agua comes through!! Agua is the place to be for business oriented mature men and women. The happy hour is on point and the menu is popping. Speed: 5, typical drinks reach patrons within reasonable time frames 3-6 minutes, bar, 5-9 minutes seated in the restaurant. Availability: 5, Agua is always open, crowded at times (happy hour, Nat's games), but you can usually get in and be served within reason. Their brunch is well worth the visit, try it sometime. Staff: 5, The staff is always professional, always looking to serve the customer. Venue: 4, Tgis rates a 4 for me only cause the bar area is usually very crowded due to the seating around the bar, not at the bar. Parking: 3, parking in D.C. Is terrible to begin with, fortunately Agua is located some 3 blocks away from the metro. I came here with my friend for national taco day and words can't describe how gross the food in this place is. after being seated by the host, the manager screamed at him in front of us and other patrons and basically told him to move us from the table. it was incredibly rude to both us and the host. that was bad but the food was worse. we ordered their fish taco and chicken tinga taco and the guac. first they brought out the chips and salsa which is always nice. the chips were good, no complaints there. the salsa was a little strange but also fine (but definitely not great). then they brought out our guac. first off it looked that weird grey green of old guac. still we decided to try it and it tasted old, flavorless, and NOT DELICIOUS. so we ate a little and decided to see if maybe it would taste better with our tacos (yes a flaw in logic but desperation). then our tacos came. my friend was pumped, took pics for her snapchat, took two bites of each taco and just gave up. the fish tasted old and fishy. the tortilla was subpar and the toppings were meh. overall a very dissapoinitng experience. do not come here if you're looking for good food. terrible excuse for food. read more
