This place is a hidden gem. There was another restaurant in the Chantilly area that made similar food, but went out of business (my guess). Anyway, I love the chicken and rice. Their fried and boiled chicken. The flavors surprise you if you're expecting a bland dish. The rice and sauces they give are delicious and go well with both types of chicken. A brand-new restaurant focused on perfecting a small selection of dishes. Their chicken rice is very close to what we had in Thailand--authentic and well-executed. If you visit, don't hesitate to sit at the four seats directly in front of the stall. Although they're attached to the neighboring Japanese sushi spot, they are open for public seating. read more

Inside of the busy Lotto Market, I found myself craving so Khao Mun Gai. I do have a favorite in Kingstowne, but this is totally up there. Portion size for the amount of food and price is GREAT! it's jam-packed with flavor. I love extra spicy so i wish there was an option to make it spicier, but i was satisfied! My order was the combo of crispy and poached chicken. They also give you a yummy broth that was not bland! Thank goodness! The garlic rice is cooked perfectly. Not too soft and mushy and not hard! Wish it was closer instead of 46 minutes from me...lol. would love to come back and try the rest of the menu. Everything came out in less than 5 minutes!!! Run people RUN! read more

Ah Leng is such a neighborhood gem in Chantilly area. They offer halal khao man gai. I tried out both the poached and fried ones over rice. Both items came with delicious soup. The dumplings are more like shumais but nonetheless delicious. Neither chicken items were over or undercooked and the rice was fragrant and also delicious. I mean what wasn't delicious from Ah Leng?! I would order all of them again and wouldn't mind eating it daily too. Parking is free and the store is located within Lotte. You can place an order ahead of time via DoorDash or through the kiosk in-person. The latter makes the transaction without platform fees and definitely saves money. I love poached chicken, and it's hard to find a place that does it well in the DMV. Ah Leng Chicken & Rice opened up recently and despite the 30 minute drive, I was motivated and excited to try the chicken after seeing good reviews. The staff running the stall were friendly, offering us free refills of soup if we wanted. The seating is pretty bare, only 3 bar seats available behind a different stall across from Ah Leng. COMBO CHICKEN RICE - 14.50 This comes with a sizable bowl of half poached chicken and half crispy chicken on top of a bed of garlic rice with a light broth and sauces on the side. The poached chicken was pretty tender and has that nice "natural" chicken flavor that went deliciously with the seasoned garlic rice. The crispy chicken was perfectly crunchy and fragrant with warm, juicy chicken. Both soybean ginger and sweet chili sauces were good, and I found myself enhancing my bites with both throughout the meal. My only complaint is the light broth, which was really salty. Other than that, fantastic chicken and rice dish. They give a generous amount of chicken per order. My friend got the crispy chicken with green curry which he absolutely destroyed within 5 minutes. We enjoyed our lunch at Ah Leng, and I 100% would be back in the future even with the longer drive! read more

Found this place through Instagram and was glad to find out theres a chicken and rice place near the area! This place is located inside of Lotte next to the sushi stand. I got the combo platter with the poached chicken and fried chicken. The poached chicken was tender but it wasn't super memorable. This was also my first time having the poached chicken without the skin. I enjoyed the ginger sauce that paired well with the poached chicken. I prefer the fried chicken more and would probably get that time next time instead of the combo. The rice was flavored very well and I ended up finishing the whole thing in one sitting!! read more

Bruh this place slaps. It took me straight to Singaporean hawker centers or Iconsiam stalls. You can't go wrong with the classic chicken rice bowl but the the classic and crispy chicken combo is the bomb! The chicken flavored rice taste so good and the sauces and soup bring it all home. I love it when a place sells one thing only and does it super well. We need more places like these. Less analysis paralysis, more eating. The staff is from Thailand and they are super nice. Consider it a takeout only place because this is inside Chantilly Lotte grocery store. The ambiance is hectic. Located inside Chantilly Lotte on the left side of the store! Their signage is super cute and the fake chickens are adorable! There's literally only crispy chicken and poached chicken on the menu for entrees but I can see why after trying it. I got the crispy chicken with green curry. It was so tasty and curry was spicy the way I like it. Initially looking at the curry I didn't expect to find Thai eggplants and bamboo shoots finding underneath! Ah Leng has maybe become one of my favorite places to eat in Chantilly. Right next to the produce section inside Lotte, I wasn't expecting too much from here, but I can't stop thinking about it. I ordered the Spicy Lime Chicken and I loved it. The chicken was crispy, and the spice and lime flavors gave it a "zing" that kept it from getting too heavy/stale to eat. I also think an underrated ingredient is the raw red onions, which may be off-putting for some, but I like the harshness that it introduces. read more

The dishes are so fresh and so full of flavor, it's making my mouth water just thinking about it! We got the crispy chicken rice and the spicy lime chicken rice. You'd think they would taste as similarly as they look but the tasted completely different! The crispy chicken rice was the perfect blend of savory with a kick of acidity, while the spicy lime was a little on the sweeter side (yes I know they sound like they should be switched but trust me, it worked so well) but both so good. Discovered this place while shopping in Lotte. The staff were very friendly. I got the Crispy Chicken with Green Curry and it was pretty good! My husband got the Thai Chicken Rice which comes with a small soup. He really enjoyed it since it was nice and light. The mango with sticky rice smoothie had a bit of an artificial mango taste, but it tasted good when you drank it together with the sticky rice. I was sad that a great Thai restaurant closed recently at this spot, and this one just opened. So, I had to try out this place. It's a first Thai restaurant restaurant specializing Chicken and rice I have seen around in VA. There are a lot of places in Thailand like that, but I have not seen one here. Ordered fried chicken but chicken was cold(even waited over 12 minutes for our food so couldn't believe fried chicken was cold). The regular chicken tastes just okay but portion very small with a lot of rice. The soup comes with the meal tastes like white pepper water soup. We tried the Thai chicken and rice spot inside Lotte Market in Chantilly and it was so good! The chicken was juicy and tender, and the seasoned rice paired perfectly with it. Little shop tucked in side the Lotte grocery store (it's on the produce side, not on the side with all of the other restaurants) that sell the Thai version of Hainanese chicken. We got the signature dish (boiled chicken over garlic/chicken rice with sauce) and it was delightful. The meal comes with a little bowl of hot chicken broth which complements the dish very well. Staff are friendly and the food was ready quickly. We opted to eat at a little seating area in the grocery store since we were quite hungry and it was a little loud but not too bad. Very good Thai chicken and rice. I first had this dish in San Francisco and haven't come across any similar chicken and rice spots in this area, so I was really excited when I found this place. I ordered the combo with both poached and fried chicken, and both were incredibly juicy and flavorful. The rice was absolutely delicious. I'm not usually a fan of the broth that's served with Asian dishes like miso soup, but this one really stood out. It was light and refreshing with a wonderful cilantro flavor.
