Come for the experience. Return over and over because the food is excellent!! The chefs are very entertaining and make it a fun experience. Dining area is clean and beautifully appointed. Nice enough for a special occasion l, family friendly too.

I came here with the intention of ordering off the lunch menu. I was trying my luck though because their lunch hours weren't listed. I later found out that it was only available Monday through Thursday after the host asked the manager. The day I went was a Friday and I just walked a little too much in the sun to turn around so I dined anyway. I ordered a Kirin on draft and their Ah So roll. Their draft beers aren't listed and you will have to ask. It came with a lukewarm miso soup which was honestly a good thing because there was no way I'd eat that hot during that day. The roll was definitely spicy as described. The roll was large but I was grateful because this restaurant is on the more expensive side. I think the prices are too high for this area. You can go to other places nearby for good sushi for a lot less. They're trying to charge LA prices when they're not in LA.

I've been here a couple times with family. The food, is absolutely phenomenal. The only downside is the wait time, there's no point making a reservation as it doesn't matter when you arrive, you will not be the priority. So walking in will most likely be the best chance you have.

Great location in Phoenix and fast seating. Super nice server that was so helpful in our decisions. We tried a lot of different things and they were all good. 3 stars only bc the raw octopus was a little rough. Not too bad though. The calamari was fried perfectly. The eggs rolls were good. But the sushi and umami bowl were the stars. Miso was not great.

I found it to be a fun experience. The chef was very good at what he did. The waitress who took our order did well to ask and write down our orders. The chef also went over our orders with us before beginning the cooking 'show'. The presentation of the food was good. The food itself was good and portions were reasonable for the price/experience. I would come here again and bring guests for a fun dining experience.

Remember this advice - never get the chicken at a sushi place. The chicken katsu is not good.

We got gyoza (which were perfect), a Philly roll (and they subbed out the avocado with cucumber for me), and we split a filet mignon teppanyaki. The steak was perfectly seasoned. We ordered medium, but I think I'll order medium rare next time. I also got a bottle of apple sake. I would have preferred cucumber sake, but they didn't have it. The apple was good, but very sweet. Overall, this place is awesome. I wish it were easier to order to go. You pretty much have to dine in.

So we decided on Ah-So and so blown away. First we were greeted and got to pick where ever we wanted to sit which was great, but we didn't expect the stream with Fish!! It was so cool to see that! We loved it. We always love seeing an attraction like this so it already bumped it up. Secondly I havent been into any Miso soups lately no matter where I have gone, it just hasn't done it for me. This changed today. I enjoyed and loved the taste of the tofu behind my combo meal, Dad also got one. I got the Chicken Katsu and Dad got the Teriyaki Chicken combo. We hadn't expected the miso soup to be added to it so that was a plus. The food was amazing! Dad loved the grilled taste and how the vegetables were grilled with the chicken and you could taste it. I loved the tempura and the crunch of the Katsu. All in all amazing. Something we really loved was the fact that it feels comfortable here. The set up of the restaurant made us so relaxed and it didn't feel too modern or pretentious it just was perfect like going to the local Japanese place in Japan. Highly highly recommend. The lunch combos were also all 18 bucks even on weekends! We will be back to try the teppanyaki and the teriyaki salmon when we are able.

It is a beautiful presentation and consist of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, topped with a rice base, crab stick, avocado, tuna, Masago, scallion, eel will you marry me sauce, and spicy mayo. Tsukiji consist of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, avocado, topped with seared salmon, scallions, Masago, spicy mayo, and eel sauce. Both selections were absolutely delicious. We were stuffed and happy. There is inside and outside seating. The inside is neat and clean. There are quite a few workers here. A lot of DoorDash orders were going out. (It pains me to give this rating)…read more This review genuinely bums me out to write because Kawaii Sushi normally has great food. The cooks generally do a solid job. Unfortunately, whatever is happening on the takeout and bagging side of the house is completely unacceptable. Whatever you do, do not place an online order for takeout. For the third time in a row, our takeout order arrived with no rice. Every entrée comes with white rice, and we even paid extra for an additional side of rice. Rice is essential to this cuisine -- it's not optional -- and when I'm paying $107 for a relatively small meal, I expect to receive what I paid for. When my wife picked up the order, she was rushed out the door and didn't have an opportunity to check the bag. I wasn't feeling well, so I had to call the restaurant, wait on hold, explain that our rice was missing, and then be told that I'd need to drive back to pick it up, turning the entire meal cold. To make matters worse, the initial offer was a $2 credit for the missing rice. Only after asking to speak with a manager did they eventually offer a $25 credit toward a future visit, which frankly required far more effort than it should have. On top of that, while the food is usually very good, tonight my entire family independently noted that the chicken had a strange plasticky, almost metallic taste, which was very odd and concerning. That's not something we've experienced here before, but it definitely added to the disappointment. Again -- the food is typically good. But the repeated takeout mistakes, lack of quality control, and poor handling of a reasonable complaint make this a hard place to recommend right now. This has happened three times, and at this point they really need to get their act together.

I will, however, write this review based upon the only reason why I go to Safeway and that is due to their sushi. In other words, I cannot comment on the length of their lines, their lack of cashiers or store cleanliness. I'm not stating those things are not of any importance, but for the sake of my review - that's simply not part of what I intend to base my liking on. I go to Safeway once a week for their sushi. The best in Arizona? ...not by a long shot, but if we're talking about grocery store sushi - then I'm willing to stake my reputation on the fact that Safeway can outdo Fry's sushi any day or time of the week. Anywhere. Period. I've never gotten bad sushi from Safeway, but I have, however, gotten bad sushi from Fry's. How bad? ...praying to the porcelain Gods all night long bad. Safeway sushi is fresh. It tastes fresh. It smells fresh. Their itamae (sushi chefs) are excellent at what they do and their ingredients are the freshest around. Again, I'm not going to sit here and tell you that the sushi you can buy from Safeway on Happy Valley in their little plastic container is better than what you're going to get from a 4-star restaurant in Scottsdale. God knows I've had better... BUT for grocery store sushi, it's pretty darn good. :) Check my pics! Their sake is excellent. Their maguro is phenomenal. Their poke is good and their ebi is sweet. Their prices are more than fair. Just how I like it. If you've not yet had the opportunity to try their sushi at Safeway on Happy Valley or perhaps you've walked past it while heading over to the bread aisle, do me a favor and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know why I inherently frown upon it - probably because most rolls look a little sad and the price tag is generally equivalent or greater than what you'd expect to pay in a cute little sushi restaurant - and cute little sushi restaurant happy hour will most definitely beat grocery store sushi in both price and quality. But sometimes, you just need to grab and go. Ya know? Well, took a chance here and we weren't disappointed. The two workers behind the counter were very friendly, the fish all looked fresh and they were slicing away as I stood there on a Wednesday around 4:30 pm. I requested extra ginger and the lady gladly took one of my containers and filled it up. She was very proud of her sushi/sashimi offerings, so that was very pleasant. The seaweed salad was the only item that looked absolutely pathetic not to mention tiny, and not worth the near five bucks they wanted. Will visit here again in a pinch. Note: not truly a sushi bar/no sushi bar seating but there are tables in the store
