What a lovely little thrift boutique on a very busy street where you'd miss it if you weren't looking for it. I heard about Dog Junkies on Yelp and saw all the great reviews and thought I'd swing by and check it out. I'm so glad I did because I found some amazing shoes that were in pretty good condition. I'd say the price of the shoes was a little high for a thrift store but since I know the money is going to a really good cause I don't mind spending extra. I mean how are these pups going to be taken care of without sales? So again spending a little extra is worth it and I think it's such a great idea! I actually didn't know that was the story behind this little thrift store until I talked to the lady at the counter and what a sweet story it is. Every time someone purchases something all the proceeds go to the rescue for the pups that would otherwise be euthanized. So if your looking to spend your money on some pretty neat goodies, whether it be housewares, books, furniture, or clothing, I highly recommend Dog Junkies! read more

The store is always clean and well-arranged I'm a big fan of thrift stores and Dog Junkies always has such interesting things and I end up shopping around for at least an hour - sometimes longer. I always mention it to people when we talk about thrift stores. They have special 1/2 price Fridays for Seniors (60+) as well as 1/2 days price for everybody (usually once a month on a Saturday). They also hold special events like auctions, demonstrations and music every so often. One thing I really like is that they go around and film everything in the store for their Facebook page most days so that you can get an idea of what they've got on hand that day. They don't accept cruddy or worn-out clothing items so if you find a pair of shoes or a handbag there, it's going to be gently worn or new. Sometimes stores will donate their excess inventory, like toilet cleaner, surgical gloves, hand sanitizer, and close-outs on dog leashes, etc. I've bought a few dog leashes & collars for a few dollars that still had store price tags of $20+. They have LOADS of all kinds of jewelry and watches on display - I mean LOADS! They also have lots & lots of pretty much everything, including doggy items which are ofttimes brand new. They really do arrange a LOT of stuff onto the many shelves in this tiny store! I always find something new each time I walk around the store. The store benefits A Home 4 Spot, which sets up in-home fostering for dogs. The store itself is smallish, but they have a good-sized storage area for larger items like furniture, etc. I came in one time looking for a doggie stroller for our old rescue and they looked in the back and brought one out. I'm going to re-donate that since we had to say goodbye to our 10-year old man recently. They are open to offers as well for most items, but the prices are reasonable to begin with. The employees and volunteers are all super helpful as well. I save up my spare change to drop into their change jar each time I shop there (helps with the foster dogs as well). Best thrift store in town. A true thrift store with a great new in inventory all of the time. The money goes to helping dogs so I LOVE shopping here. I go on Fridays and have for a very long time, with a few other ladies since it is so close to where we work. I'm being moved to another property next week so my trips will change to Saturday but I can guarantee I will still be there almost weekly. If nothing else, at least donate to the cause to help furbabies in need. The volunteers that work there are all so sweet and truly care for the store and it's purpose. Absolutely love this thrift store. You never know what bargains you will find, different days, different discounts. All staff are wonderful and often open to a reasonable offer on merchandise. Also they event days that are fun for all the family. This is a great cause to help those that do not have a voice. Dog adoptions and always In need of dog fostering if you are willing and able. I have been going here for along time. The ladies are pleasant, they have great sales throughout the week. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday's and every now and then Saturdays. They are closed on Sunday's. All for a great cause! They've even inspired me to open my own online thrift store which is coming soon. read more

We adopted our sweet senior lady from AH4S about one year ago. She could not stand due to foxtail stickers embedded in her paws and all over her body. She was also extremely weak, almost totally blind and deaf. She surely would have been put down if AH4S hadn't saved her. We are SO THANKFUL they have her the chance to live and now with us is living very comfortably. Her name is Miracle and she has been a most wonderful miracle in our lives. I don't know why I show up as San Francisco, but whatevs. The server I guess. Anyway, the shop is closed on Monday so we had to make a return trip. They have abbreviated hours too which can be problematic. I took off a star for those 2 things. I see that the ratings are a mixed bag, but we had a good experience. IDK if they're willing to haggle as we didn't try, but as this place is trying to raise funds for animal welfare, we didn't mind paying a bit more. The inventory is super random which is like every other thrift store we've been to, but the cashier was nice and helpful. Thor came to visit several times. He even did a trick before we left. They had stuff in the front yard as well as inside so that made it easier to peruse the wares. You have to park at the Walgreens and jump the wall. If I was them I would knock down part of the wall and make some steps for easier access. read more

Your items are too expensive for a thrift store. People stopped going to Dog Junkies Thrift Store because the prices all of a sudden tripled. Your prices are more than regular store prices. You started out as a good thrift store and people enjoyed going there to get the bargain, but now you're overcharging for items. You really need to lower your prices down to thrift store prices if you want to stay in business. read more

I've been wanting to write this review for a week now. But it was my first time coming to this thrift store, so I was excited especially since I've never been here before. After reading mixed reviews about this place I thought I'd still give it a chance. I wish I didn't waste my time here. I came around 10 am thinking it would be open, nope. So I came back later when they opened, which I wasted my time for. Anyways, as I walked in there was two ladies at the front and one of them greeted me saying "hi" and that was it. As I looked around I noticed the prices were high and it was very hard to look at the clothes because they were so many things and it was so tight to each other. As 3 other people walked in they were greeted with so much happiness and small talk. No one made eye contact with me or even asked if I needed help. This was my first time here again, so I was kind of confused, especially since the tags were priced high. I had asked an older lady a question about how the prices work, which she ignored me, as I said excuse me for the third time she answered me back with one word and turned back around. I immediately walked out right after. Not sure if it's because I am Asian but to me that's exactly how they made me feel. I wish I would of had a better experience here. But oh wells. read more

I head straight to the pet supply section first. They have a great selection of dog toys, clothes, leashes, harnesses...everything my babies need. Don't get me wrong. The rest of the store is great too. They also carry Pawsome Jerky. My dogs love it. I know you can order it online too, but this is the only store I've found it in so far. I highly recommend checking this place out. There's so much stuff to choose from and new stuff all the time. Plus (and this is the best part) every sale helps dogs in need. Total win win. read more

Only giving it one star because I can't go any lower. Answered an ad from them for a item they had for sale. The ad was ENTIRELY false. Item was listed as new and in box - probably wouldn't be as mad if when I got there the woman wouldn't have had such a funky attitude. When I answered the ad and i asked if the item was new and was told yes it was. Drive WAY ACROSS TOWN to find out not only was it not new but VERY used, filthy dirty and missing parts. When I questioned it the woman said I had to understand volunteers place those adds and they can't be responsible for mistakes - really? She didn't even have to decency to apologize for their mistake just told me it's still a deal - huh - a broken dirty machine is just as good as new?
