Aha use to be a great place, and I use to be an every Sunday customer, but the quality has declined and the terrible entrance space just to pickup food is annoying. It's winter and you have to compete with food delivery drivers to wait indoors. I asked for extra crunch and was charged a $1.50 for 25 cents worth. Same with sauce. My order tonight probably the worst restaurant sushi I've had. The rice was not seasoned sushi rice. It was plain rice and pretty flavorless. The sauce on the eel rolls was awful. I can't tell you what the eel tasted like because there was very little of it and it was drowning in sauce. Overall, everything was really bland. The fish did not seem like bad quality but it was just raw fish wrapped in steamed rice. I can finish an order of mediocre sushi but I couldn't finish this at all. A solid suburban sushi spot! I met a friend for lunch and the prices were very fair. I ordered two rolls and a hot tea, and I think it was about $19. The service was very nice, but also very slow and we were in a bit of a hurry. They had a pretty wide menu and a bunch of types of sushi rolls. I am a sucker for a good avocado/cucumber roll (basic, I know) and theirs was rolled perfectly. I also had a spicy tuna roll and it was pretty light! I love spicy tuna, but I don't like when it's weighed down with tons of mayo. This was not. The rolls were a generous size and the tea was served in a kettle. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. they only have inside seating and I visited at a pretty dead time, so there wasn't too much to worry about. Only due to the hibachi fried rice was the rating a two. All the sushi we had was just not right. The seaweed in the rolls was chewy and sticky. The soy sauce was thin and way over the top with salt even though it was in a low sodium container. The octopus nigiri was dry and tough and I did not even bother to eat the second piece. We left half of the pumpkin roll and the sweet potato roll as well. As advertised the service was not great but it was not the worst either. read more

My friends had the rolls and the Don Katsu. Miso Soup: I love salty miso soup but this was too salty. However, the nice thing was this miso soup had an unique taste compared to the other miso soups I've had which would've made it great if it wasn't so salty. Salmon Nigiri: Salmon Nigiri is my favorite. However, the salmon here was not good. It didn't taste fresh and I even questioned if it was salmon or not... it was like when you thaw out fish in warm water and you leave it too long so it accidently cooks a little. Unagi Don: This was okay. It was too sweet and the eel didn't have the crispness it should. Rolls: My friends loved the Dragon roll, Teriyaki Salmon roll, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll. Don Katsu: My friend liked the presentation but he said he's had better. He also said it was too sweet. Service: Our server seemed to be on the struggle bus. Aha gets a 5 for food! The sushi is really good here and at a very affordable price. While the atmosphere is pretty basic (and a little quiet) and the service is very basic, as well, I still very much recommend going here to eat. I wanted to try a new sushi spot and came across this little gem through yelp. I'm sure glad we came because it was worth it. We didn't order very much sushi because we weren't sure how good it was going to be. We went for the caterpillar roll (eel with avocado and cucumbers topped with eel sauce), California roll (which is basically your classic California roll with crab meat and avocados), and tuna crunch roll (tuna, crab meat, masago, tempura flakes, and mayo). My ultimate favorite was the tuna crunch roll, my oh myyy it was delicious with lots of flavor and the tuna was fresh. I wish I had order another one since I was sharing with the boyfriend. The caterpillar roll was also very good, no complaints there. The California roll was tasty but your typical California roll (nothing special there), we got it because we couldn't decide on what other rolls to get. I really wanted to try their tempura ice cream for dessert but unfortunately they didn't have any that day (inserts sad face). We will definitely be back. I'm looking forward to trying their other sushi rolls and possibly desserts. If you're in the area, give this place a try. I've known the chef David for years and I always come back to him, he's funny, smart, creative, most importantly he makes awesome sushi at very good prices, I made it here on a Saturday night, it was so cold out but he welcomed three of us at the bar, offered us hot tea from his hometown in China. He asked me what I wanted for dinner, I said "Omakase please", that's always been the case, UP TO THE CHEF! I loved the salmon belly, the sauce was very light and added perfect flavor to the fat, the volcano on top of a bed of rice was creamy and flavorful, my love for the fried cheesecakes has always been attached to David's restaurant, their tempura is so crispy unique, different from traditional Japanese tempura when you only get a batter dipped in grease. Overall it's a great experience in the neighborhood, it's close to Mall of Georgia so if you are done shopping you could make a stop here. read more

I found this place off scout mob. I was really excited to try this place. It was a failure. The coupon suggest it was 50%, so I order four rolls. I should of read it carefully. The maximum discount was $8!! & when the server used my phone to click on the scout mob app, he rated the restaurant himself! This explains why they have such high reviews. Also, you could not use coupons on the lunch menu. Asians are tricky, so remember to always read the FINE PRINT. Also, he charged me for tip and did not tell me! The four rolls I got were volcano roll, aburi Salmon Oshi Sushi, geisha, & the last one which was rising sun or something. The volcano roll was average sized compared to one at the Samurai Blue Restaurant. The volcano roll at Samurai Blue hands down beats this one. Price, quality, & quantity. The aburi Salmon Oshi Sushi roll is not original. I have had other rolls just like this. The explusion roll at Rice Restaurant in Cumming & the whose your daddy roll at Mori House in Suwanee. The aburi Salmon Oshi Sushi roll is not even comparable to these two rolls. If you are even going to the premium outlet mall, stop by Rice Restaurant in Cumming. I promise it will not be a disappointment. The geisha roll was not bad, but the sauces overwhelmed the sushi roll. I was eating pure spicy mayo & eel sauce instead of the sushi roll itself. I give this roll a 6.5/10. The other roll I am not exactly sure what it is called it is right underneath the geisha roll on the menu. i think it is called rising sun. Again the spicy mayo & eel sauce was over powering the roll. The server recommended this roll to me. It was not good. I give it a 5/10. I am not a fan of using panko crumbs to deep fried the shrimp. If it is tempura shrimp it should be a batter. I have also had niko niko which is just down the street. Both of these such places are mediocre for sushi restaurants. It is due to the area they are in consists mostly of Caucasians. These sushi joints are not very authethic but I would prefer niko niko due to their orginality for sushi rolls. The sushi rolls are very unqiue. I am very sad to discover this place and will probably never return. It was also completely quiet when I came and service was just okay. The server did not seem to be friendly or like to talk much. Usually sushi chefs are very friendly, but I did not get a hi or bye from him or the server. I expected more attention since it was only me & one more group. I worked at other sushi/hibachi places & restaurants, so I understand what good service should be and what quality sushi really is. A lot of bang for your buck at this little hole in the wall sushi place we discovered courtesy of Yelp! We walked in on a Sunday evening and the place was pretty empty but we weren't worried! We were seated right away in a little booth across from the sushi bar and our waitress was very attentive. My husband and I ordered a large saki (our first of 2) and it came out right away, nice and warm, along with some deliciously salty edamame we shared. We ordered several rolls- and we were surprised at how generously portioned they were! My vegetarian tempura sushi roll was HUMONGOUS, like 12 pieces for $6! I honestly could have just eaten that for my meal. My husband enjoyed their amazing tuna roll which was also really generously sized, he said it was aptly named! They have so many creative rolls available on their menu- a lot of really tempting ones I want to check out. So glad we followed the advice of other Yelpers and gave Aha Sushi a try! The restaurant occupies a tiny space in the strip plaza anchored by Publix. Blink and you'll miss it! The interior is clean, but nothing fancy with just a handful of booths and seating at the sushi bar. I knew we were off to a good start when the ginger salad arrived with green leaf lettuce - not the more common iceberg variety. The ginger dressing was fresh, zesty and abundant. We also ordered edamame, which was surprisingly warm with a good quantity of salt (which I like)! For our entree we shared the Spicy Salmon Roll, Philly Roll, California Roll, Geisha Roll and a Spicy Scallop Hand Roll. Let me say first that my husband and I are definitely Sushi connoisseurs, having sampled sushi from Tomo and Umi in town to Kani House in Gwinnett. And, for the money, Aha was really good! All rolls were very fresh and flavorful. No rubbery rice. The California Roll incorporated crab salad vs. the more common monkfish crab stick. The Amazing Tuna roll is everything I love in a sushi roll and more! I have traveled around the US and eaten at some of the best sushi restaurants in Miami, New York and LA and this restaurant is on par with any of them. The restaurant is clean and traditional and Chef David bring his 15+ years of experience from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Buford. Such a small little place that if you dare speak loud, your conversation will resonate through the whole restaurant. Um. Yeah. This place was small, not tiny, but fairly small. With an early dinner around 5:30 PM on a Saturday night, this place was dead until later on when there was a steady stream of folks that came in. The quality was decent. The sashimi pieces that were ordered were small though. The size of each piece was undersized. I should have taken a picture. :/ The crunch eel with shrimp roll I had under the specialty section was pretty good. Although my friend did think the eel was left out since it wasn't visible. The scallop roll under the hand roll section was good, but it was stuffed with too much rice. It wasn't even spicy as described. Service was decent. Since the restaurant was fairly small, the employees were readily available. They were attentive and sweet. There was a miniature dessert item filled with cream at the end so that added to the adorableness of this place. Parking was okay since Aha Sushi was in a complex with Publix. I tried their $8.99 lunch special and chose a spicy tuna roll and salmon teriyaki as my two items. Both items were just ok IMO. Ive had better spicy tuna rolls elsewhere and the teriyaki salmon portion was super small(see picture). Their lunch specials are supposed to also come with a miso soup and a salad. The California roll was like any other. Good and fresh too. The gyoza was very yummy! And I loved the dipping sauce it was the same for the shrimp tempura. I ordered for pick up and the place was pretty dead but I still waited over 15 min from the original wait of 20. So that wasn't fun but I wasn't in a hurry. Walked in earlier today around 6pm for dinner after j got off work. It was quiet and I was the only customer there. The waitress was very nice and polite and she seated me in a booth before giving me a menu and taking my drink order (water). I loved how much there was on the menu! From appetizers to entrees to bentos to sushi, it was great! In my opinion, I think the prices were reasonable. I wasn't very hungry and I thought, "Hey, it's a sushi place. I should get sushi." So I stayed away from the entrees (for now) and ordered a Sashimi&nigiri (I think) combo with a spicy tuna roll. It came with a small salad and a small bowl of miso soup; both were very tasty. The sushi/sashimi/nigiri was good. I found out that I didn't like the spicy tuna roll but I finished it because I didn't want to waste food. The sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth amazing and the nigiri was awesome! I loved how there was a good rice-to-fish ratio because there are some places that have too much rice and too little fish/filling. I paid around $21 for the meal and oh man...it was so worth it. Interior is cute, comfortable and roomy seating, pleasant staff. To start off, we ordered the fried veggie roll apetizers, they were called "spring rolls" but were really fried rolls. Not what we expected but tasty nonetheless. I ordered the salmon sushi combo, served with miso soup and ginger dressed salad. The soup had small bits of tofu, really one of the better miso soups I've had. Salad was average, just a bit overdressed for my taste but very tasty as well. The salmon combo was a plentiful amount of rolled salmon sushi and salmon nigiri. Very fresh and had obviously been made as we ordered it, which is a good sign of quality sushi. The prices for the quality were right on the spot, and this place will definitely be on my list for sushi. Highly recommend if you aren't looking for any nonsense sushi will frilly sauces and sides.
