Sushi is well made and the rolls are humongous. I ordered the amount of food I'd normally get for a good dinner and it was twice as much as I needed to eat (at a price that was average for smaller portions elsewhere). So, well made for, great price. Also, I have an avocado allergy and asked on the web order form for certain rolls (not all of them) not to have avocado due to the allergy. I love their sushi! Fair price and large portions. The Volcano roll is my "go - to". We are regulars and I don't see that changing anytime soon. UPDATE: this place has gone down hill with their customer service and order accuracy since we started coming here. Today they messed up our pickup order (which has never ever changed). This was after waiting 20 additional minutes from the time the lady told me my pickup was going to be ready.... then because it was their mistake the roll I actually wanted to ordered was $2 more, they charged me!! When it was their mess up. It took an additional 15 minutes to make the new rolls and then I saw they did not give extra ginger root as requested. So we still had to go back. Wow. This place is small and hidden in a Publix shopping center. From the outside it doesn't look like much but prepare yourself if you elect to eat here. The sushi is surprisingly good! This place is so underrated due to the location it's in. This is one of my favorite spots to go for sushi. Rolls that I highly recommend is aburi salmon(favorite), lambada roll, scallop roll. There are several more but that's all I can remember right now plus I order these most of the time I come. There are a variety of appetizers there and they're quite delicious. Few appetizers I recommend: soft shell crab, volcano, tuna tataki, tuna avocado. Tempura udon is really good there as well. The reason I gave a 4 star is some of the stir fried (ie: yakisoba/haikus on) dishes tend to be salty. So I recommend ordering sushi/apps/soups. Another thing is they tend to put a lot of Japanese mayo as garnish and it can be very overpowering and mask the taste of the sushi itself. read more

Overall an average experience. The miso with clams was very tasty. The volcano roll, not so much. The rice was too warm and toppings too mushy. The flavor was ok but I have always had volcano roll that is spicy and has crunch flakes on top. The place was empty when I walked on at 12 for lunch. Tv was on local news so no music, no ambiance! The sushi chef was only one working. Very nice guy but stood behind the sushi station and watched videos on his phone. Called in my order since I was at the Publix next door, walked in 5 mins later to pick up: 1.the guy that answered the phone never put my order in the system. 2.two couples were seated and served as I waited on my order. 3. Another person walks in and picks up their "call in" order as I continued to wait. I got my order 30 minutes later. Went here last night with my big sis and her bf. We went here because they said they found this place through scout mob and wanted to show me mall of georgia since apparently I have been stay 15 minutes away and never realized how close it was to me. It wasn't busy when we went, just one other table. Aka, we got our food fast. The presentation was clean cut, ingredients quality was okay ( i didnt get sick lol), tasty, etc. Im not a picky eater so its not hard to impress me lol. Just give me a roll that won't fall apart on me when I eat with chopsticks, i won't get sick eating it, and make it tasty lol. Thats all I ask. Oh, and they give little fried cheesecake bites at the end which is nice (watch out, they are really hot so give them a few seconds to cool before eating them ^-^). Oh, and price isn't bad. I enjoy eating sushi but when I saw the prices I thought how could this be good sushi? After coming in one day I was astounded 4 dollars for a California Roll with such good flavor! I was hooked for sure after that. I've been there maybe 14 times since then. When ever I get money for eating out I always go here. I used to go to a variety of places and consider myself to be quite choosing with my money. The staff is always courteous and never have behaved to me in anyway that could be construed as negative. They have a diversity of things over on the menu that I don't see in many other restaurants. It seems as if they will make you any roll in existence and then a few extras. The nigiri selection is a little thicker then the typical sushi place. Like sushi but have a friend that doesn't like it ? That is okay! They have Hibachi , Teriyaki or Noodle options as well. The food itself tastes much better then i thought it would. I've loved all of the things I've ordered its a struggle to not come back more then I do. The fish is fresh and they have a good combination of ingredient flavors. When you order sashimi and some rolls you understand sushi is about taste but also a beautiful display. If I had more money I would come back almost every day of the week. -The Numbers- 63 types of rolls to order individually. ( tempura , roll , special roll ) 18 types of Nigiri. 26 appetizers. 15 satisfying visits. A meal ( two rolls )(not lunch) can cost from 9 dollars to 26 if you want to get crazy. Lunch options start at 6.50 and end at 9.99. Options for pressed sushi and hand rolls too. Very horrible fake Japanese food made by Chinese cook or whatever. It's obvious it's not Japanese owned as there's a Japanese translation error on the menu. After I ate their lunch and got nauseous afterwards. First, when I arrived at this place and looking for a bathroom, they told me to go to a men's bathroom with a bossy attitude. Eeeek! I was hoping Yelper's reviews were tight, but I ordered a lunch box, but everything in it was wrong. Sushi was made with watery rice, and the grains of rice were all squished. And sushi rice didn't have any flavors; it even didn't taste vinegar at all like I should've. Tempura was super stiff and greasy. And their Katsu tasted weird with a weird sauce on it. I asked what they put on it, then the unfriendly waitress said, "it's teriyaki sauce." Why the hell they put teriyaki sauce on it when It's supposed to be tonkatsu sauce served on the side as a dipping sauce. So I asked the waitress for tonkotsu sauce, then she argues with me saying, "this is the only kind of sauce we have." What kind of Japanese restaurant who serve katsu on the menu don't carry tonkatsu sauce? Then finally the fussy waitress went back up to the kitchen and quietly brought back some tonkatsu sauce. This place's menu is priced slight cheaper than the real authentic Japanese restaurants, but they completely lack of the food quality, authenticity, and the spirit of Japanese food. They also lack of hospitality or courtesy. Both of the waitress and sushi chef were emotionless and impolite. I felt nauseous from their food for 2 days. Never again. read more

Really, Aha gets 4.5 stars from me, but the staff was so nice, they will get bumped up. I think if you are a sushi aficionado, you would probably consider Aha "Americanized." Or maybe it was just what we ordered, I don't know. I am not a sushi aficionado by any means, but even I got the idea that it was not quite as authentic as places such as Sushi Yoko. For one, the clientele was entirely Caucasian. I do realize it may have something do with with the fact that we were in Lawrenceville/Buford. And then there was the food. We started off with the shrimp tempura appetizer. It came with four fried shrimp and for reasons unknown to me, one fried onion ring. This app did not use tempura batter. Instead, these were fried with breadcrumbs, I believe. It was incredibly tasty, but I would not say it was real tempura. The ginger soy dipping sauce was very good with it. For the rolls, we got the Super Crunch, Dynamite and Volcano roll. These three are staples and I've seen them at many other sushi places. All three were good, but I have to say the Volcano was my least favorite. Texturally, it was lacking a bit of crunch. Both the Dynamite and Volcano rolls had a lot of spicy mayo piled on top. Not the healthiest option. The Super Crunch was my favorite, and had the same fried shrimp as the shrimp tempura appetizer. We also got tempura ice cream for dessert. I liked that they cut it in half, knowing that the BF and I were sharing. BF really liked it, I felt like the tempura coating was too thick for my taste. We also got green tea... we both enjoyed it very much. It was smooth and mild, and hit the spot. We will definitely be back! read more

I love both sushi and trying new places so I was excited when ScoutMob had a 50% of coupon tonight. Sushi for dinner it is! I got there and the decor was a little underwhelming but no big deal, I'm not there to eat the furniture so I'll live so long as the food is good. After quickly being seated, my waiter stops by to drop of a menu and then walks away. No problem, I'm not dying of thirst so it can wait. He came back almost immediately and says "Oh, uh...do you want something drink?" I get a water and he comes back with and takes my order. I ordered assorted sushi rolls, Inari, Tuna Tataki and Gyoza. The Gyoza came out first and was ok, a little overcooked but not bad. Next was the sushi rolls and they looked great and unfortunately that is where the greatness ended. The shrimp tempura has as much breading as shrimp and was overcooked, allowing all that breading to soak up lots of oil. The other two rolls were nothing special but not terrible. The Inari came out and was kind of wimpy but tasted fine. Now comes the part I was most excited for, the Tuna Tataki. Now, this dish varies but essentially it's thin slices of amazing seared tuna. Because it is a raw dish aside from the light sear, you want the fish to be as fresh as possible. The tuna gets to my table and it's bubblegum pink instead of the deep violet/red you expect from quality tuna and not a single speck of searing on any of it. I probably should have turned it away but I braved on. If you've ever been to an outdoor fish market, you know that overwhelmingly fishy smell that naturally accompanies such a place? That smell turned into a flavor and ended up in my mouth. It was horrid. After the ordeal, my coupon is taken off the bill and an 18% gratuity was added...for two people? Now, I get why they do this when these Groupon-type deals are used but a notice would have been nice. So, as I write this from my bathroom, stomach churning away, my summary is as follows: Decor - 2/5 Service - 2/5 Food - 1/5 Prices - 4/5 (So at least I didn't over pay for food poisoning) All these glowing reviews must have mistakenly reviewed the wrong place or are used to week old supermarket sushi. Gimme gimme yo sushi! I've been here twice. The first time was a little disappointing but the 2nd time more than made up! I only ordered uni, chirashi, & the dragon roll the first time. The uni wasn't my favorite and could have been fresher. The second time I visited - my mind was blown. I almost feel like there was someone else behind the curtain preparing the sushi because the difference was surprising. We ordered more nigiri this time & it was the best sushi I've had in a while. So I was working nearby and decided to check this place out based solely on fellow Yelp reviews. I liked the booths with comfortable cushioned seating. Service was good. They have a really nice variety of rolls, but I opted for the sashimi platter. It came with miso soup and ginger salad. The spicy mayo could have been spicier, but otherwise, great sashimi. The cuts were very big, and fresh, which is key. Nice presentation as well. Next time I am going to try their rolls, but I had to eat light because I'm going to an all you can eat buffet tonight. AHA Sushi is a wonderful neighborhood sushi restaurant. It is located in a plaza with a Dry Cleaners and a Publix. This is the perfect location to pick up take-out while after running errands. The restaurant is small with a few tables and booths. There is also a sushi bar. For such a small place, the restaurant's menu is quite large. There are lots of options to fulfill all of Japanese cuisine wishes. From Teriyaki Salmon Rolls to Chicken Katsu, you will find a dish you like. For starters, I had to try the California Roll and Philly Roll. They were great, served cold, with plenty of filling. I ate the Chicken Yaki Soba, Stir fried chicken over egg noodles for dinner. It was served hot and delicious! Not a lot of soy sauce is needed. My favorite thing about this restaurant is its proximity to Publix. It is super convenient. My least favorite thing is that I waited so long to try AHA Sushi. They have been open for 4 years. This review was about my first visit. I'm a huge fan of niko niko but I decided to try something different. OH MY GOSH DO NOT GO HERE!!! First off they charge you about a $1.60 per coke. No refills. Their sushi selection is slim and not very inventive. Next, looking at their prices you think it's not too bad. Then you see the portions. TINY rolls. Then you taste it. HORRIBLE. The only good rolls were their tempura. I am not a fan of Publix sushi....but I would have preferred to walk next door and get theirs instead. This place is a lil gem hidden in Buford and l'ville area. And suffice for those that has the sushi crave or just want a quick fix. Also a good place for beginner to start venture into Japanese dishes. I wouldn't call it authentic, but definitely a great alternative, hence my 4 star rating. The goods: Raw fishes are fresh (of the last 2 times I had them). Rolls taste yummy. Has a good "cooked" selection for those that can't eat raw. Prices are decent. The bad: Rice used in the rolls are typical warm and mushy, not the cold vinegar ones used at a typical authentic restaurants. You will get filled up with a roll quick due to lots of rice. We asked to be sat at the sushi bar, and the hostess (slash waiter maybe?) sat us there and then sat down behind us to finish slurping his crab legs and corn on the cob. His table mate (slash possible sushi chef?) got up and went into the bathroom and began hocking up snot and blowing his nose so loudly that it was interpreting our conversation! The first person came and offered us drinks, which he proceeded to get without washing his hands (took a break from the crab legs) while the other one continued his noises in the bathroom.
