I decided to try a different Angry Crab Shack after a dismal experience at another location. I'm so happy I did. I called in my order and was greeted by an energetic and happy voice. Rose was polite and efficient. This location is in a large shopping center with ample parking. It was about 2-3 mins off the freeway. The atmosphere was very lively and friendly. This was the exact opposite of the other location where everyone appeared unhappy. The manager was very friendly as well. The food was delicious. The Cajun fries are yummy! My friend was feeling like a baller and craving a seafood boil, so off to Angry Crab Shack we went! Now, full transparency--I'm not a seafood girlie but I still tagged along to see what non-seafood options they had to offer and try it out. This location sits in a busy plaza, and while it wasn't fully packed, it was clearly the night to go--there were lots of birthdays being celebrated (including my friend's!). The staff was super friendly and asked if we were celebrating anything right when we sat down. We were seated toward the back, and later on a manager even came by to check in on us, which was really nice. For my drink, I kept it cute and simple with a blackberry lemonade--so refreshing, especially in this Arizona heat (even in the evening, it's no joke). I ordered the Catfish Basket: southern-style, lightly breaded catfish with Cajun fries and grits on the side. Everything looked appetizing and definitely photo-worthy when it came out. The remoulade was nice, but I'm a hot sauce girl at heart, so I made the switch midway. The Cajun fries were seasoned well and super tasty. As for the grits... they missed the mark for me. The texture reminded me more of mashed potatoes, and I'm a bit picky when it comes to my grits, so that might just be personal taste. Now for the fun part, birthday dessert! The server hyped up my friend's celebration with a loud announcement and even a horn (lol), then handed her a menu to pick out a treat. She chose the brownie: warm, fudgy, topped with ice cream and chocolate syrup. We thought we were full... but one bite in and we were done for. Moist, rich, and we absolutely devoured (I hope no one was watching us inhale it). Overall, solid experience. Angry Crab is always a hit! Their menu is expansive, prices fair, the seafood quality is great, and you can't beat the location! I switch up what I get, usually a mixed bag, but always with the Trifecta seasoning (lemon pepper, garlic and Cajun). Their shrimp are always easy to peel, the crab tender and delicious, and the potatoes and corn done to perfection. They have a great selection of mixed drinks too! If you go for a special occasion, be sure to tell them! They'll get the whole restaurant to help celebrate which is a lot of fun! We've never had a bad experience here, everything always goes smoothly and the employees always seem to genuinely enjoy being there. I ordered the shack trio with egg and my friend ordered a pound of shrimp and 2 lobster tails and it was fantastic. I forgot to grab my receipt and I called in a few days later and their manager Nathan was able to track down the day and order and sent me the receipt. Got seated right away on a Thursday dinner and our server quickly reviewed the menu and got our drink orders plus she recommended the shrimp cocktail appitizer for Happy Hour, so we got one - and drinks and thevapp came out right away. Once grandson had the kids popcorn shrimp and he ate it all. My older grandson had the adults fried shrimp platter, and also loved it. My wife had the grilled shrimp bowl with noodles and it was flavorful and plenty to eat. I love shrimp and grits so I had to try theirs. The grits were cheesy and creamy (which is good) and the shrimp and sauce was delicious, I just wish there were a few more shrimp. Great meal in a great atmosphere with excellent service. Hubby & I took one half of your twins here last night for his birthday. He loves crab & seafood. We arrived at 5:00 & were seated right away. It took a little while for our server to come over, but not too long. We all ord waters. Hubby got a beer, our son got the Hurricane & I got the Tropical Storm. All the drinks were good. Hubby did not like his chicken strips at all. He said the breading had no flavor, & the chicken was dry. I did not like my cod po boy. There were 2 or 3 chunks of fish. The bun was so tough I couldn't bite through it. The fish had no flavor & fell apart. I had to ask for a knife & fork to cut through the bun. Our son loved the gumbo. He shared it with my hubby. They both said it was very good. My son loved his boil. He brought his leftovers home & had them for dinner tonight. The service was good. She told us how to reheat the boil & it worked out great. Service was fine, not the servers fault that the kitchen is an unorganized mess and it took forever for our meals. They weren't especially busy and it still took 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. I went with the fried shrimp basket with Cajun fries and beans and rice. My girl went with the 1 pound head off shrimp boil with some added mussels and trifecta sauce in medium. The shrimp boil was very good with just enough kick, and it made her nose a little runny. The fried shrimp was nice big sized but the Cajun fries seemed to be a little NOT Cajun but they were still good. Beans and rice were as expected. The one thing I would say and why I left this at a four star is because the amount of cocktail sauce that was given for the 6 large pieces of shrimp was lacking with only one small cup of 3/4 to 1 once of the sauce. I should mention we ordered our food to go but while I was there picking up, I could tell it was a cool vibe both inside the dinning area, as well as outside on the patio.
