Food and service has gone down since my first visit a few years ago. Definitely not the gem of Loudoun I once thought it was.

8/5/2023 - Oh my...this was our very first time here! We had brunch here and this was the very first time my friend and I had ever eaten here! It was a wonderful experience to say the least! Upon arrival, the hostess sat us down with a very warm welcome for our brunch and then we were approached by our amazing server, Bruno, who was just PHENOMENAL with everything!! This was a price fixed brunch and it was EXCELLENT!! It was $36 per person, which is not bad at all, and the portions are huge!! We were told by the hostess the brunch was just brought back about two months ago so please return there, people!! It's worth it!! We ordered the smoked pork belly & avocado toast and seared sea scallop & grits for our brunch meals and we also got the croissants 2 ways with buttermilk biscuits, strawberry marmalade, whipped butter, fruit mix, yogurt, & homemade granola. We inquired on the granola and asked if it contained coconut in it since I'm SEVERELY allergic to coconut. Well, our amazing server, Bruno, went to ask the Chef if the granola contained any coconut in it and she confirmed it did. Bruno was kind enough to come out to inform us of this. He then came back out to to bring me a new container of homemade granola that the Chef made WITHOUT coconut specifically for ME!!! Yessssss!!!! ME!!! Oh...My...!!!!!!! I can't wait until Yelp allows emojis on here!!!! Seriously!!! It almost brought me to tears!! ;( It was so moving that the Chef wanted to make me feel so welcome and make me a special blend of granola that was coconut FREE for ME!! A special applause goes out to HER for sure!!!! The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is amazing!! We will most definitely return for many more special meals and hopefully have the ever so wonderful Bruno as our server!!! read more

Came here for date night. This was our first time at AhSo. Thanks to M for recommending this place! B made reservations. Upon entering, we were seated immediately. Free parking is available nearby. The ambiance is laid back and it's cozy in here. Our server, Chelsea was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Complimentary bread and butter is brought to your table. We enjoyed the dishes our server recommended. Each dish was well seasoned, not overly salty, and incredibly flavorful. Everything from start to finish was lovely. The presentation of the dishes were so colorful and artistic. Some of our favorite dishes were the Pan Seared Sea Scallops, 24-Hour Tamarind-Glazed Beef Shortrib, and Spiced D'Anjou Pear Crisp. The Spiced D'Anjou Pear Crisp tasted like a hug in a cup. Restrooms in the back were clean. We had a great meal here. So glad we got a chance to try AhSo. read more

Finally made it to AhSo, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Reservation at 5pm on a Sunday - glad we made it before the crowd since they actually turned folks away. Our waiter David was extremely attentive and friendly without being overbearing. A gentlemen who I imagine is the owner stopped by several time to ensure we were happy. I asked for sangria - not on the cocktail menu but happily made and very tasty. I had the boar ribs which were a shareable starter. They were crispy and saucy and more than enough to have been a meal unto themselves. Next up was the pork belly and Brussels sprouts salad; crispy pork belly, shaved sprouts, goat cheese, candied nuts, delicious dressing - and quite a large portion. It was fried chicken night so I took advantage and ordered the corn bread. A slice big enough to masquerade as dessert, it was one of the best pieces of corn bread I've ever had. I was too full for dessert (maybe the first time in my life!); but I had the French press coffee which was rich and satisfying. $43 before tip was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. My friend had Prosecco, a glass of red wine she loved, the beat salad, and porchetta as her main course. She had a cutely named dessert - which I cannot remember - but referenced the King and was bananas, peanut butter ice cream, and meringue. She said everything was fabulous. The decor was fairly sparse but comfortable. I appreciated the funny signs in the restrooms and the leaf-embossed hand towels. The only thing I would change is to lower the volume of the music a bit. Came for a birthday dinner - the menus were noted with "happy birthday" at the top of the menu in addition to a birthday card from the staff! Very cute! I ordered the green curry gnocchi which was divinely delicious! To be honest, I wasn't sure how the flavor was going to come out, but goodness when it arrived, it was gone in a few minutes! Yum!! Would definitely eat that again any day! Desert: ordered the "King of Rock and Roll" which was really good as well - peanut butter ice cream coupled with burnt marshmallow fluff and bits of cookie crumbles. Again, fantastic. Cocktails: Kiss in France (cannot recall the correct name) was good too. Pear purée with Grey Goose and elderflower. Well made. I will definitely be back. A perfect & cozy spot for a date night, special occasion, or a girls' night. The special touches they layered in made for an extra-special birthday dinner. The personalized menu, a hand written card, and glass of Rosé (that my boyfriend authorized it when he called about our reservation.) that arrived moments after we were seated set the stage for a delightful & delicious evening. The waiter, Sean, was attentive but not overbearing and his suggestions were spot on. We started with the octopus (yum!) and the crispy Brussels sprouts (good but I don't need to get them again). I sipped my Rosé and pondered my main course. The Halibut "Paella" with a shrimp, & mussels on a bed of Israeli Couscous was cooked perfectly, fresh, & flavorful. My boyfriend enjoyed the duck breast thoroughly. Our wine & cocktail were lovely additions to our meals. I chose a classic... flourless chocolate cake and asked for their house made peanut butter ice cream instead of caramel. A rich, delicious, & decadent end to a fantastic meal. 8 of us came here for adult night out. It was our first time here and we had our own private room. Private room was very nice and it was just the right size for 8 people, possibly 10. I don't see how they could have fit 12 in the room. Overall the group agreed we would come back for the starter and first course but not for dinner. Duck wings, grilled octopus and seared scallops were very good. Pork chops and ribeye were very dry. Service was quick. read more

One of the best outside the beltway restaurants I've found. This is tucked in the back of Brambleton Town Center. The wine list is fantastic. I've been twice now and each time I've gotten the chefs specials. First time was a pork shank that was buttery and full of juicy flavor. The second was a dry aged ribeye. The food is excellent and the prices not quite inner beltway but in my opinion well worth it. read more

We've been going to AhSo for about 6 six years now. It was always a highlight of a special evening out with friends and we always enjoyed the service, unique courses, and ambiance. Unfortunately, the past few experiences have not been up to par. We celebrated last night with another couple and from beginning to end, we were again disappointed. Courses were sparse, the quality of items selected was poor, and the presentation looked rushed. We added the wine pairings but the timing was off. There was no explanation of the courses and when asked, the servers' (we had several different ones) knowledge was limited. Same with the wines. We realize this isn't a Michelin restaurant, but for the price we pre-paid, the quality of the food and service should be much better. Sadly, Asho has fallen off our favorites list. read more

I booked on line, letting them know it was my sister's birthday. When we got there, there was a lovely note on our reserved table, greeting us and the birthday girl. Each of the dishes we ordered had a tremendous depth of flavor. The muscle/mushroom Tom Kha soup was incredible. Again, the layers of flavor were just tremendous. The spaghetti and meatballs! You'd never know there was no spaghetti or meat in the meatballs. The tomato sauce and cream sauce were so rich and delicious with Parmesan crisps and lentil meatballs. I did not miss the meat at all, barely noticed it wasn't there. For dessert, they gave her a candle with her lemoncello spheres. It was a festive ending to a lovely evening and a delicious dinner. I was pretty excited to try Ahso after hearing such great things about it. There were more missed than hits. The hits were the drinks and the misses were the food. The spicy margarita was delicious and the wine selection complete. Some of the food was rather unimpressive for the cost. The appetizers were the highlight of the food- the cheese/charcuterie app was delicious, the Brussels sprouts were nicely crispy. The entrees left a lot to desire. The fried chicken was bland, the collard greens were too sweet to eat, the steak was okay, the purée under it didn't go well with the rest of the dish and it seem incoherent as a whole. I also had the smoked short ribs which was good but nothing special. There are so many other better restaurants in the area to try again. I would stop by for a drink and app but not return for a full meal. read more

Chef's table review (3/5, but see below): For the most important aspect, the food was excellent and felt worth the high price. AhSo is clearly making some of the best food in the area. But I had a hard time enjoying the chef's table experience itself primarily due to the timing. I was mentally prepared for it to take 2-2.5 hours, but it ended up taking 3.5 hours. It would be one thing if we were watching the dishes be prepared between courses, but they are brought out from the kitchen. So the reality is that you spend a few minutes eating a delicious small plate, and then wait 30 minutes for the next one. Maybe this timing will appeal to some who like to linger over a meal and savor the wine pairings, but it was too much for me. When I've done similar dining experiences in the past, courses were served every ~15 minutes, which felt very natural. I'd give the chef's table 3/5, but I will happily return for a regular meal, so a 4/5 rating seems fair. read more

Elite level food preparations. Not yet Patowmack Farm or VOLT levels, but in the same league. All the food is artistic, perfectly prepared, a multi-layered in flavor and texture. Expect something great in the sausage category and a pate or mousse. Lamb, pork, beef are general all on the mains menu. Also expect a fish or seafood dish and at least one veggie dish. So there is something for everyone. The booze list is top notch. Check out the Orange You A Spicy One cocktail with Tito's Vodka, a blood orange puree and habanero simple syrup. The wine list includes Vajra Albe Barolo and Stag's Leap petite syrah. They have a very fine selection of ports for afters. Service has been excellent each time we have been there and there's a free parking garage right around the corner. Atmosphere can be a little challenging. Been there when it is dead and also been there when it's loud enough that it's hard to have a conversation with people are your table. It can also get too hot and stuffy in there. These are simple fixes however. read more

Absolutely incredible in every way! My fiance & I went here for our two year anniversary and were greeted with the most adorable card on our table that said "happy anniversary" & our waiter even told us happy two year anniversary! It was so sweet! We prefer to eat outside regardless of the weather and despite it being on the hot side, they set up a table for us and were happy to accommodate. We had a variety of dishes and I'm personally gluten free (as I have celiac disease) and they were so accommodating! The waiter made sure to ask about every dish we ordered without hassle and the manager even came out to ensure us on things we had concerns or questions about. They don't have a gluten free fryer so anything fried is a no-go if you can't do cross contamination like me, but the dishes that were still gluten free were AMAZING! We had the best night and were even treated to a free dessert and little firework show for our anniversary :) read more

Still awesome! - Despite the pandemic and all of us having to shift how we live during this time AhSo still delivers on amazing cuisine. Taco Tuesday is my jam and even though I was aware that they could deliver on Spanish cuisine I didn't realize how well they could execute it until Cinco De Mayo when they blew it out of the water and had me dancing in my living room with chips and queso (you NEED this queso in your life). They introduced BBQ one day a week and at first I was skeptical, "BBQ? When did they get into BBO?..." [25min later] "Friday is now 'AhSo BBQ day' in this house." I'll continue to support AhSo during this time and can't wait to get back inside to toast with the team that's been working diligently to feed all of us. My sincere thanks to the entire staff for keeping the doors open, our belly's full and Jason especially for keeping staff employed during this time. read more

Food was good, I was just disappointed when my scallop dish came out with pork in the lentils (I'm a pescatarian and communicated this to my server..) Wine was good, wish our server would've brought out the 2 wine bottles we ordered a glass from to show us label, give a small taste to make sure it's enjoyable,(instead poured full glass in the back and delivered it that way) Maybe that's just how this place rolls. But overall nice atmosphere, would probably come back if I were in the area but would not specifically make the 40-minute-away trip again. read more

Talk about a killer, must experience restaurant. AhSo is always at the top of our list!! After a recommendation and initial visit with friends for a birthday party we knew we loved this place. My girlfriend and I have frequented AhSo so much that I have built a catalog of food pictures from them and that should tell you something haha. We are from Richmond and will continue to drive to AhSo for everything that they offer. Cocktails, wine, stellar dishes and a great staff. Like I said previously on our initial visit we had a nice birthday lunch. We sat at a table in the back near the clean bathrooms and wine racks in a secluded room, beautiful place. The interior of AhSo is well designed and you have to stare around the room to take in everything from the tables, desiginer silverware to everything on the walls. The interior seems so clean they must dust daily, which is definitely a positive haha. Now on to the food. After being seated and given menus on our initial visit we were brought a special plate from the kitchen. Nice gesture and was a wake up call that this place serves quality, is legit and that we were where we belonged!! Through all of our visits we have never been let down by Ahso's chefs and their dishes. Thank you for making my friend Julie's birthday and first time to Ahso an amazing experience. The menus on our table said Happy Birthday Julie and she received a personal card from Chef Jason and the team. Our meal was equally delish! Crispy Brussels sprouts, warm feta cheese dip with extra bread (nice touch!). We tried the Duck, short ribs and bronzini. Perfect sized meals! We ordered two desserts (the king of rock & roll and the bread pudding) and they brought out a third for Julie's birthday (the flourless chocolate cake) which was soo yummy! The food was very good, but our overall experience suffered from what can only be described as bad timing. My wife, mom & I had reservations for Easter brunch, but apparently, we got one of the few remaining slots late in the last shift, and it was pretty clear that everyone wanted to go home. While that's certainly understandable on a major holiday, keeping us waiting for a half hour before even asking if we'd like to place a drink order seems counterintuitive. It should be noted that Ahso wasn't that crowded when we arrived (maybe a quarter to a third full), and by the time we left, there were only two other tables. We actually had to flag down a member of the wait staff to get our order in (by this time, we were pretty famished), and it took another 10 minutes or so for the (prix fix standard) first course of warm croissants, biscuits, and small fruit squares -- all delicious -- to arrive. Our original server left before we were done, so one of her colleagues helpfully stepped in. They were both quite nice, and I think may have realized that they had dropped the ball (maybe table assignments weren't clear?), such that the second server did go to some lengths to ensure that we had everything we needed. Everyone in our party really enjoyed the meal, and the kitchen did a fine job in terms of quality ingredients, preparation, and presentation. One other concern came with the check, which included an automatic 20% tip (for a party of 3), then appeared to have added tax to THAT amount ( ! ), then provided another line for a tip. I'm sure there's many a diner who's missed the fact that they've already tipped, and not been given a choice in the matter. While we normally would have added an additional amount for particularly good service and/or the staff working on a holiday, the buzzkill of the long wait after being seated and the "auto tip plus how about a tip?" billing put a damper on what would otherwise have been a very fine meal. We'll give 'em another shot, just not on a holiday! read more

We placed an online order for curbside delivery, and the food was as delicious as always. Their expanded take-out menu now includes growler refills, wine, dessert, and a kids menu. We recently reserved a table to celebrate my friend's birthday. I've heard good things about this establishment so it was fun to try it for myself. The food was delicious, and the portion size was generous. The prices of entrees were fair and appropriate. The restaurant went above and beyond to make my friend feel special on her big day. They presented her with a dessert that had a sparkler for extra decoration. (Pictured) Overall we were very pleased. What a lovely spot to have an intimate meal :) My husband and I came here to celebrate my birthday on December 28, 2019. We had a nice table in the back near the window. The only tiny compliant I had was that the place was very cold! My feet were freezing and I was wearing tights, socks and velvet booties! I could have kept my jacket on the entire time, brrrr! I enjoyed when the waiter brought us bread - just 2 slices :) It was perfect because I don't want a GIANT bread basket before my meal! The butter spread (I cannot remember what it was!) was DELICIOUS!!! When scanning the cocktail menu, I only saw one vodka drink - and it was spicy, whomp. I asked the waiter if he could recommend a vodka cocktail. He asked me what I liked (Vodak, club soda, cranberry, peach,etc...) and then returned from the bar with a LOVELY creation from the bartender! The drink was voda, sparking rose, club soda(??) and a splash of something...ahh, I cannot recall...BUT, it was PERFECT!!!!! I ordered another one after dinner ;-) My husband had some sort of hot rum drink that was delicious!!! :) We started our meal with the Seared Diver Scallops! They were cooked to perfection!!! Perfect size to share with two people. For dinner, I ordered the Crispy Skin Icelandic Arctic Char and my husband went with the Crispy Skin Mediterranean Royal Seabass. My meal was delicious and reminded me of a perfectly cooked salmon! I would definitely order this again! My husband loved his Seabass! I opted for dessert (because it was my birthday!!) and had a dark chocolate bar with mint ice cream, MY FAVORITE flavor! It was so yummy and the plate even said Happy Birthday! I also received a lovely take home menu and birthday card from the restaurant, how wonderful! We had one of the manger's snap a few photos of my husband and I on the way out. I've been here twice now, one for a work lunch and another for a business dinner. The ambience is good and classy, with the only challenge being the clear glass on all windows which allows people to peek in from the street. The food was good but worse than expected based on the high prices. Portion sizes were also much smaller than expected for the same reason. I give the wait staff credit for accommodating any dietary restrictions in our party. The main reason I give 3/5 is that the service is incredibly slow. During the work lunch and dinner, the mains and appetizers took nearly an hour to arrive. I realize that the menu changes each day but this was very impractical for any productive meeting over food, as all of our party members were starving by the time the food finally arrived. Very unique food and a great culinary experience. I believe they've expanded their hours beyond dinner only. Great food, and great staff. Seating is a little uncomfortable for a long chat (just smaller tables and wood chairs) but nothing to keep you from enjoying your meal. It's an intimate atmosphere so no huge booths and private areas, but the food is great. read more

Met with two other couples to give Ahso a go. Didn't know what to expect, as were new to the area, but soon discovered that we've eaten food by the chef before - Jason was at Charity in Vienna for years, as were other members of the staff. We all were big fans of Clarity before the owners antics finally made chef John give up the ship, but it's great to know that John's team has landed elsewhere and are doing great things on their own! Regarding the food, we started with the charcuterie and the bacon wrapped dates. Fantastic! I ordered the veal chop and my wife ordered fish. My wife's fish was ridiculously delicious, though my veal chop was not very tasty and mostly bone. That's said, the others in our party greatly enjoyed themselves. We'll be coming back (though I'm staying away from that veal chop next time!). read more

As a native New Yorker and relocated to northern Virginia, it has been difficult to find good services and quality of products across different sectors, especially in the food and beverage industry. I am proud and happy to vouch our dining experience at AhSo was on point with food, service and ambience, and exceeded expectations. The "shared" dishes have Asian flare especially with the presence of fish sauce in the brussel sprouts giving that umami flavor. The main dishes include dorade fish and Angus NY strip. The dorade filet had a hint of pho broth essence and enhanced the flavor of the fish. The Angus NY strip was cooked perfectly and topped with cheddar cheese cloud and gai lan (Chinese vegetable) pesto. The service was amazing and our waitress and staff members exudes professionalism and attentive. Overall the dining experience was amazing and I look forward to going back and experience the Chef's Counter for dinner. read more

I went with my fiancé to AhSo tonight excited for a nice dinner but wow, they exceeded my expectations! The vibe in the restaurant was perfect for a date night. We were also extremely impressed with the service tonight, our waiter did a great job making sure we were taken care of. Now the food is what made us LOVE AhSo.
