Just to give you some context of the work Ted did, he moved the dryer out of the way, vacuumed and cleaned the duct from inside and then vacuumed and cleaned the dryer pipe from the outside, a lot of work for a fair price. I even suggested zigging or zagging if need be, but you were adament that the best and easiest way would be straight under the floor. It went from "this'll be easy" to "well, we're looking at 7500 on the high end, because this is a complicated job". It isnt just that it was a price i dont like, it was a price that would blindside anyone. Especially since your website claims that services BEGIN at $300. No one said they expected the job to be $300. But if thats the starting point, I would really love an itemized invoice of how much everything costs, if im being quoted between 6500 and 7500. I was prepared to pay up to 1500 for that job, which is on the high end of reasonable. But for coring 8inches by 4.5 inches into concrete, a 15ft connection with 4 right angles and a damper...7500 "on the high end, it could be a grand less" is way out of the ballpark. In a nutshell, claiming that relocation services START at 300, it gives this client that notion that even the jobs you see as "complicated" wouldnt be more than 2000 "on the high end". Which is why i got the impression that you didn't want the job. Please don't backtrack like you didnt ask me to show you what your own website says as a way to overcome an objection to a price estimate. It doesn't give much confidence to the client when you're saying that your web technician made some kind of mistake. I also work in sales. And when you have a starting price listed, the price quoted usually bears some resemblance. Like i said, i was prepared to pay up to 1500 for this job, maybe even 2000. It sounds like maybe you just didn't like the review you got. You started great, and even the price was your perogative to charge, it's YOUR business. But don't backtrack, don't try and have two people give a review for a single interaction, and don't react to reviews that you don't like as though any normal person in any normal tax bracket wouldn't be offended by a 7500 quote when your site says services start at 300. Its giving "intrigue people with a low base price to get me in the door, and then it doednt matter if im hired, charge whatever, because i'll either get to go to the bahamas on them, or i'll at least get two good reviews." So im just letting people know. Sam is very personable, very approachable, and seems to really know what he is doing. Like some of the others, this is a bait and switch. The quote that they gave me was way too low…read more($129) and when the guy came in, Jerry, he quoted me $900. So, the background, I have an older furnace that had some black soot coming out of the vents and he said it was mold and mildew. He assessed the furnaces in the attic, and told me what he had to do. Sounded reasonable, so I agreed. This was on a Thursday. After he left, the problems were 1) the blower stopped working after he finished so I had no AC during that heat spell in May 2) there was a small gas odor after he finished 3) he didn't do the dryer vent cleaning because he had to be somewhere in the afternoon, at 2:30pm! He was telling me all the things wrong with my HVAC system as though he didn't want to do the work, but was completely interested in talking about the house that he was building and how great the HVAC was. But what's disappointing to me, especially, was his unprofessionalism. He didn't complete the job at 2:30pm because he had to "go to downtown to talk to the painters for his house that is being built." Like you are on company time, how many other jobs has he not finished or completed for his company to tend to personal matters? I paid in cash, so he likely didn't even report this job. I called another HVAC team and they fixed my furnace blower to just get the AC working but also gave me a great deal to just replace that old furnace upstairs. They were also the ones that explained all the bad work that was done prior, and the lack of work that Jerry did! When they ripped out the junction box, all the mold and stuff Jerry took a picture of was still there! The major thing was the gas leak, and fortunately my new HVAC guy found it. That could have been very dangerous. After the work of the other HVAC company was done and I had time to think about all that Jerry for NOA didn't do, he called me and said that he could come on the Saturday for the dryer vent cleaning. When I asked him what time, he said he'd check and get back to me. Then he never called me back. Then he calls me randomly on Sunday, the next day, and I cancelled on him at this point because I don't trust his work, or this company. Beware of NOA, and how they take advantage of you not knowing about HVAC. As a nurse, I naturally just wanted the best for my family in terms of air quality. But to damage the system I had in place, despite the age, and potentially cause more danger with a gas odor and leak, I don't think I can trust this company. Plus the fact that Jerry, was more concerned with his own personal project than helping me was a real turn off. He said it'd only take 10-15min, but didn't do it? Because of traffic to his paint match appointment? Bad value, bad customer service, bad work. Response time was good, but the only reason why I had to leave a star is because you can't leave a '0' star review.
