Found this company in an ad and since I lived nearby, I called to get a quote on our AC unit which hadn't been working so well. They had a cancellation so I was able to have someone come out the following day. Jeff Fry was so pleasant and helpful. Even though he was there to check out the Ac and get me a quote, he was very genuine and honest. This company isn't just trying to push you to buy something brand new. They genuinely want to help you find the best working solution for your home. He was very communicative and called to let me know he was on his way too. They were able to give me a time block that was within an hour of his arrival. I am happy I have found this company and I recommend them. read more

We used air master in the past but never again. DO NOT use these guys if you have a Nest thermostat. They 'don't believe' in the technology and will charge you hundreds of dollars to convert you to a regular thermostat. They are behind the times and more than happy to stay that way. We had a tech come out and they charged nearly $400 to get our a/c working by circumventing the thermostat all together. The real issue (that we solved on our own) was the nest was bad. Once we replaced the unit, and undid their 'work' everything worked perfectly. Beware! read more

The company forged my signature on a completed work order and charged my credit card $491 to replace a faulty thermostat they installed. This happened after billing me $15 monthly for a maintenance agreement over 5 years. I was billed $99 to have an appointment booked for the thermostat they were supposed to fix and did not on a 90 degree day while my elderly father and young children were scheduled to be home all day. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone based on their fraudulent activities and ridiculous "customer service", the entire organization starting from the top down is a joke. They don't care about their reputation, only the money they can scam from you and it shows. We'll see what they have to say about the law suit for the almost $600, since my credit card was billed without my permission or signature. Our Mitsubishi ductless mini split stopped blowing anything but hot air, as we discovered late April when the weather warmed up. Don't judge me...I like a cold bedroom. We called AirMaster to come take a look and they determined a couple of parts in warranty needed replacement. After two months of calls to AirMaster and Mitsubishi, I am in a spot where Mitsubishi is finally involved and helping to find a solution on the parts. Mitsubishi claims AirMaster was not working with them on my issue...AirMaster claims it was calling Mitsubishi and its rep for resolution, which was not provided. I don't know who is misrepresenting the situation. It is pretty poor customer service on AirMaster's and Mitsubishi's part to allow this to swirl for two months. For a variety of reasons, AirMaster has declined to finish my project, so we are starting over with another HVAC company. My situation is probably one in a million (in a bad way) and I understand labor shortages, pandemic stuff, and global parts shortages...not AirMaster's fault. Sales guy Donnie was great, arrived on time, was right to the point and found discounts to keep the price down. Helped work through some issues with paperwork and getting the process started. That's where it ended. Irina who finally called after 4 days of trying to get a hold of (office staff) when she called she tried to talking through finishing the paperwork and rebate paperwork and to even get the job scheduled. When asked to speak with someone else and had another company giving a quote she hung up the phone. Text the sales guy and his reply was "We wish you the best and unfortunately we find that we weren't a perfect fit. No need to replay to this message. Thank you" Just buyer beware. In my mind I always saw this as a Big endeavor. Installing 2 air conditioners for a two furnace home. Even though they said it was crazy. And no, I don't have money to burn. Just a mothers house to keep cool in the coming super summers and warm in the winter unearthly freezeovers. After much debate over pricing and equipment my decision was to go with Air Master HVAC. Air Master installed 2 new install air conditioning units and replaced 2 furnaces. The first furnace because of my cheapness and stupidity of having unqualified installers install a furnace in an attic. The second furnace because it was old and needed to go, my stubbornness and my wallet would not let me allow the old furnace to depart this earth, but a decision had to made. Out with the old in with the new. It started with dealing with my salesman Jeff Frye. You can tell he's been doing this a long time. Jeff continued to deal with me over an almost 2 month period of back and forth haggling and hand wrenching over equipment and price. He was professional and at times down right friendly in our phone conversations. Be it voice or text Jeff always returned my phone calls or answered my texts within a reasonable amount of time. After price, came installation. The task took longer than was estimated. I had to get a concrete slab laid first to certain dimensions and thickness. If you ever have to deal with contractors in Detroit, for something as simple as a concrete slab, then you know what I mean when I say "Contractors suck in Detroit and good ones are damn hard to find. After getting through dealing with crummy don't give a care contractors to lay the slab, I finally convinced a master carpenter I know to lay the slab for me . Thank you Mr Mayberry. Finally Max from Air Masters and his crew were allowed to begin. 1st they took extra good care of being safe with COVId procedures because they were working around an 83 year old senior. And they took care to be as clean as possible and clean up daily, relocking doors and closing windows and filling holes as they left each day (that's what my mom tells me). They were working in super summer conditions of 90 degrees and above temperatures. They redid the entire attic furnace situation. It's looks great up there now. I really give Max and his team high marks. I guess a customer is not just another number with Air Masters. And I'd like to say something that most folks don't want to hear or talk about. "Almost" everyone I have had to deal with from Air Masters has been a person of the Caucasian persuasion (white people). I want to say with all the hate that's going around today, my mom expressed how she felt that the guys running around her home (and she was watching believe me) were truly respectful, kind and concerned about her safety. And my mom is African American ( black woman) who is 83 years old and she has seen a lot of racist hate in Detroit. She knows it when she see's it. She said if they were putting on a show, then it was a very good show and they hid it well (we both sort of laughed at that thought). It felt good to know that everyone is not always up to no good and disrespectful. Ohhh, there are plenty of folk who are up to no good and disrespectful, we know that, but not everyone. Just to be clear, when it came to installing the second furnace a few months later, 2 installers from Air Masters arrived who were both African American. Great service with great respect for my mom again. Same work ethic. Don't know what Air Masters is teaching over there, but it's working. It was a pleasure working with Air Masters and the whole team. Even when I call there I feel customer service is at its best even on the phones, whoever those ladies are. I made an appointment for a fireplace repair. As with any service, I had to allow a half day window for them so I took the day off of work. They confirmed they day before. 6 min before the window of time required on the day of service, they cancelled on me. Now I'm supposed to be okay with taking another day unpaid from work to wait for them- and hope they don't cancel again? No thanks. read more

As a first time home buyer, the idea of getting any HVAC work done was intimidating, but when your furnace goes out in the middle of winter, what choice do you have? I called Air Master after looking at their other reviews and figured they were reputable and trustworthy and they exceeded my expectations. The woman on the phone was polite and even mentioned that Air Master had a special for $50 off furnace repair at the moment, so we felt very taken care of. Our technician was very knowledgeable and discovered a repair solution for our furnace and didn't try to upsell us a complete furnace replacement - something we expect a less reputable company might try on a first time home buyer. After the repair, their manager Mike called to make sure that we were completely happy with our service, and I must say we were. I would recommend Air Master to anyone! read more

If you're looking for quality work, on-time service visits, or competent workers, go somewhere else. Purchased a new furnace, and the installers broke my hot water tank during the install. So they spent the entire day fixing that instead of replacing it, leaving at midnight with a half installed furnace and still no hot water. The next day it took multiple phone calls and 5 hrs waiting for someone to come out for the water, only to be told the part they needed was at the warehouse, but it was closing soon, so no hot water for the whole weekend. Monday they returned and then had to undo the previous furnace installers work, because he had no idea what he was doing. Also instead of running a new line I paid for, they disconnected an existing line and ran it to the other vent, hoping I wouldn't notice. My favorite was when I was told by the sales guy that this was such an unprecedented F up that the owner of the company was personally getting involved.....obviously that never happened. Now comes time for the AC - they couldn't finish that install in November, makes sense, so when setting up the spring maintenance, I remind them this needs to be done. Told they'll arrive between 8am and noon. Tech shows up at 12:45 with no idea he needs to do this AC work. Then starts, comes back and tells me there was miscommunication, it was set up. Only to hear from him 2 hours later that no, in fact it wasn't set up, and he's not capable of doing anything. I have to get the installers back out, but good news, the office lady let me know I won't get charged for this service visit. Pitiful. They've made 6 trips out so far. 6. And still need them to come back out to ACTUALLY FINISH THE INSTALLATION. I could go on, but obviously if you read this you know they're a nightmare. Go with the name you know instead read more

Called on the weekend with a concern that my furnace was running through the night (woke up to 89degrees!). Thought I was in Florida. Spoke with Air Master (the firm the former owner used). They were great. We agreed that I would manually set the thermostat until Monday (cheaper service call). Tech (Alan) called when he was on his way. Got to the issue immediately; thermostat was bad. Gave us options and installed a new one and showed us how to use it (also set our humidifier without being asked..then told us how to use it). We are new to this house. Also asked him about a fireplace gas insert. That afternoon, Jim called and came over. He gave us some options at several price points and invited us to the showroom. PGreat guys, wonderful service, reasonable prices. Efficient, knowledgeable; it doesn't get any better than that. read more

First I had them out for a noise problem with my furnace and was duped into buying their service contract which they said provided me with a future discount on parts. A later call to Air Masters and they replaced a wall thermostat. Charge...$99 to come out...$188 for the thermostat. $287 total. Upon researching the price of the thermostat, totals ran from 30 to 60 for same product. I talked to the owner who said he could not match thermostat prices on the internet and oh, that was a labor charge included. The bill said..$99 charge to arrive...$188 thermostat. Mr Levey the owner, not only does not honor his service contract for discount on parts but also does nothing to employ his 100% satisfaction listed on the invoice. read more

Having already replaced air and furnace for us last summer, called out when other air conditioner was not working. Airmaster told us compressor was bad and the unit needed replacing. This was their job to lose and that they did just that after failing to provide necessary quotes. After getting multiple estimates we found out that our compressor was not broken and that our air conditioner could be easily fixed for under $200. Wondering now if we were scammed by them last summer and our unit could have been repaired. In addition they claimed not to be able to find a unit compatible with our previous furnace forcing us to replace that as well. Do not trust them. We are still waiting for Mike to respond to our concerns and refund our money. read more

These guys were great! I had two different technicians out to the house for separate issues. They handled both with 'kid gloves." I had a leaky and unresponsive hot water heater that need new parts installed. They even registered it for me with the manufacturer as it was still under warranty. We never had... oops! They also installed a new humidifier and explained why the old one had to be replaced in addition to how to operate the new one. If you want a trust worthy company to work on your AC, furnace or hot water heater, these guys are the ones to call! read more

We had a furnace and AC installed back in 2013. I am pretty sure they convinced us to overbuy for the size of our home. We have been enrolled in their $15 a month AC/Furnace check since 2015, but I have no idea how or when we were enrolled. Now I am having trouble getting them to reimburse for missed visits. Here is a more comprehensive list of all of the frustrations experienced: -Furnace technician blew out our electrical panel just one year after installation for a routine check. Had to wait several hours without heat for the repair. -AC technician removed connection parts from our AC panel and then did not return them. Parts were sitting outside and I noticed them right before a rain and replaced them. -$15 a month plan is a SCAM! If you miss a visit they will not refund you and they will not check your furnace/ac off-season. No excuse to pay for something that is not delivered. - Humidifier pad needed to be replaced, but technician didn't check for it and thus had to be called back in for replacement. A simple pad check should NEVER get missed. After the next furnace check, we will be finding a better company to work with. I am writing this out of frustration, after having spoken to their billing department. The money goes in, but tough-luck if you are an unsatisfied customer. You won't ever get your money back. After 4 years as a customer I am finally done. read more

I called them one morning at 8 AM as soon as they opened and there was a tech at my door by 10AM. The tech was knowledgble and didn't try to over sell me. He explained to me what the problem was in detail and what he needed to do to fix it. He offered a few different options of how he could resolve the problem. Once I approved the fix he went to grab the parts and my heat was back up and running by 2PM. Super quick and efficient. read more

I had always been pleased with the professionalism that I've received from Air-Master - that is until my basement flooded. They sent out a tech, who said that my furnace worked fine, but that the case insulation needed to be replaced due to getting wet. After tugging on it for a few seconds, he found that it was glued down. So he then told me that it's the manufacturer's recommendation that I get the furnace replaced. He said that Lennox states that anytime water enters a unit that it needs to be replaced. I called Flame who told me the same thing. Flame wouldn't even send a tech out to look at it. Guess what? That's a lie. My owners manual clearly states that any part that gets wet needs to be replaced. I then called Lennox customer care, who apologized for Air-Master misquoting their company policy. Lennox explained to me that the insulation that got wet was just a sound barrier and not needed. So I ripped it out myself. I am really disappointed. Air-Master and Flame are taking advantage of people due to the flooding in Detroit. They are spreading untrue information and refusing to service perfectly fine working equipment due to these untruths. read more

Horrible experience, I've done business with them for years and I called for a furnace inspection I needed for a rental home and instead they did a $145 A/C maintenance and refused to credit me or perform what I needed. Oh wait they did offer to sell me for an additional $45 a maintenance package so I can spend even more money with them not getting what I wanted or needed. Never will use them again. Upon returning from a weekend trip, I found my house was a balmy 52 degrees, and my furnace was refusing to work. I called Air-Master's 24 hour line at 11:45 PM adamant that I needed someone ASAP, as it was in the 30's outside. I waited up for over 2 hours, and I never received a callback of any kind. In the morning around 8:30, I received a call from them asking if I still needed a tech, which is why they get 2 stars. At least they followed up, I guess. read more

This in not a company you want to do business with. They overcharged for a simple service call, did nothing and wanted more to fix the AC unit under warranty than it cost new. Even the manufacturer of the unit is no longer using them. Rude, inflexible and poorly managed. There are lots of other choices for HVAC service. My check was cashed immediately like one of those fly by night places that worries you won't be happy with their services, which I wasn't. What a nightmare this so called heating and cooling company was! I had a brand new furnace and AC installed in May of 2017. These people do not have a clue what they're doing, nor do they care. I had a litigation with them over it, due to many issues of incorrect installation, such as a clipped wire that shuts down the water pump in case of a power surge. (I had a flood due to this). They either didn't know, or didn't care where that wire went, so they clipped it. They also couldn't get my chimney liner inside my chimney for venting installed because there was " an obstruction",(so they said),and it was my responsibility to pay for someone to install the chimney liner. The company I had install the chimney liner said it there was nothing keeping it from going in. (it took them 1/2 hr. The owner refused to come out and witness the chimney company,that I had to have install the liner, so they couldn't refute the fact it wasn't they're fault. The owner would not reimburse me for my out of pocket $600. They also had stuck my AC condenser outside on top of of a bunch of loose pebbles with a piece of lightweight slab pedestal on top of the pebbles with the 3 1/2 ton condenser all supported by it. The loose gravel was falling out little by little. The list goes on and on. I finally got a reputable company to fix all they're mistakes. Run from this company, if you see them! Cindy S. Very expensive company! They completely overcharge for their services. They say as a maintenance customer, you receive 20% discount which looks good on paper, but if it is true, their prices are really inflated! A capacitor is about $40 part -- on a routine maintenance call, charging $190 is ridiculous (and that's 20% off)! Labor for a 10 minute job when they are already there is outrageous! Also, they wanted to charge $586 for condenser fan motor that costs $120 for parts. And this is supposedly, again, 20% discount. Why on earth would anyone say "yes". Their response is that they charge a flat rate in the event more labor or parts are needed. That's dishonest to say the least! The motor is on the top of the unit, they know this, it doesn't take rocket science to figure out it won't be complicated. Flat rate pricing is an excuse because you've been discovered as overcharging your client! Shame on you! I wonder how many elderly people you steal from! And, as a maintenance customer, they have left loose bolts in the furnace and haven't done the cleaning. Very disturbing! Dear Michael, I did explain all of this to your customer service when I cancelled my Maintenance agreements. They put me on hold and came back and explained your "Flat Rate Policy" which I agreed is a customer's right to accept or decline. I declined because I researched the cost of the part from the model number of my A/C unit which astounded me considering the cost I was quoted. I decided to get a second opinion upon which I decided that you were just too costly for me. I really couldn't believe the labor charges considering I was receiving a 20% discount. I based my decision on the facts: the cost of parts $120 (or less) and AirMaster's charge for this service $586 (and that is at 20% discount). It probably would have been a good time to get you involved at that time but they didn't. She then indicated that the remainder of the maintenance agreement was due because it had been serviced twice and I only had the maintenance agreement for 6 months - though I had a maintenance agreement on my other home for about four years with AirMaster. I also discovered after having them do the second residence, that they left a nut loose in the furnace and did not clean it. I'm uncertain what maintenance is when it isn't being cleaned and we have to tighten the nuts within 2 weeks of your maintenance service - instead of calling you back out to incur more charges. I'm sure you do have customers who are happy with your service, but have they actually done their homework on what costs are or are they too busy like most people/customers who put their TRUST in you? Dear Michael, I almost forgot, the third reason why we decided to cancel our maintenance agreements with AirMaster and further service. At the home that we had to complete our Maintenance Agreement for the remaining six months totaling the remaining $90, we were charged $190 for a capacitor; Fact: It is approximately $30 for a capacitor for which we paid $190 with a 20% discount..., 792% mark up, reduced to just 633%. Service contract came in handy on weekend when they had a number of calls ahead of me. They say contracts come first and they proved it by making me next in line for service. read more

We just had a great experience with Air Master. After a lot of time trying to fix a problem (that couldn't be identified by other companies) it was determined that our 20+ year old furnace needed to be replaced (no shock). The sales man, Jim, came out that same day and talked us through suggested options. He never pushed one just made suggestions and gave descriptions along with answering our questions. The next day, Saturday, we placed the order. We scheduled for Tuesday but on Sunday night the old furnace totally gave out. I called Jim for suggestions and an hour later he showed up with enough space heaters to keep us warm until the new furnace was put in. It was so nice and thoughtful. The installation techs were great on Tuesday. Jim came back to pick up the space heaters, explain a couple extra things and we are warm. Great service. We felt the price was good. I had to have emergency furnace repair. The Tech arrived promptly and was competent/professional- management was not. They had to replace a part - the ignitor - they had just replaced 17 months ago. First they said they could find no record of previously replacing the part. When I gave them the date, they then miraculously found the records. They said it was out of warranty and I had to pay over $400 again!!! I have purchased 2 furnaces and 2 central air conditioners from this company in the past. Plus additional referrals. UPDATE: Days later I received a telephone call from the general manager who offered to clean the furnace's burner unit (in an effort to avoid future igniter failures) and to refund half of the cost of the second igniter replacement. read more

Air Master performed work on my property without my permission and with no prior estimate given and then told my tenant they had to pay on the spot, $342 for a 45 minute job and a $60 part. I had received quotes for the service with competitors of Air Masters and the quotes ranged from $150 - $200. My tenant wanted to use a different company where her friend worked that already identified the capacitor as the issue and estimated it would cost $175 total. The only reason I called Air Master to begin with is because they installed the original unit and I thought it was covered by the warranty based on the original sales pitch. After paying a great deal of money for a hot water unit I was surprised when after only 8 months it quit working. Come to find out the unit was not installed properly. I was advised that the duct work has not been correctly sized for the new unit. This was pointed out to me by the gentleman from Consumer's Energy when he was forced to tag the new unit for a gas leak! Incorrect duct work is one thing, but to install a new piece of equipment worth that much and not at least check the gas connection worked on by your installers, is not only dangerous but irresponsible to all the people who work and frequent our establishment.
