So the coldest day in NY officially started, I turn on the heat, what happens, like anything else in 2020, it's broken. I didn't panic since I still have supplemental forced air heat although it can never compete with them good Old radiator heat. I begin to Yelp and call every Heating company around my area.....everyone is booked, too busy, won't pick up, booked, too busy .... so I ended up making an appointment with a company for 11/10 ........ from 10/30.... Later in the day, George from Air Tactical called me back .... this was the company I called without answer. He saw the missed call and called me back and came in within a hour or so to diagnose the problem. George came in the typical van, wears his company's uniform proudly and seemed very pleasant. As he starts to diagnose the issue he was about to go the process of elimination and find the source of the issue, at the same time, exact some money from me for his professional services. It turned out to be the thermocouple and the gas release valve thing. He came back the next day and vuala! There's heat. George carefully examined the system, double checked, cleaned (paid service) and taught me how to maintain it and explained to me in detail what everything was and how they worked. Love seeing young people who are good and proud and professional with their trades. I am glad he called me back and for anyone who thinks he only called me because he's not busy or has no business, I can assure you that's not the case, I believe he called back on my missed call because he cares about people and his business. He was the ONLY person out of the 7 business I called that asked me what was wrong with my system in detail. Air Tactical was one of the best contracting companies I've worked with in recent memory. They are professional, punctual, personable, and proficient in the work they do. We setup an appt for checking the AC in our house due to weak airflow, and speaking on the phone was very communicative in trying to solve the situation as best we could, without on site work, but it turns out they needed to come by. They show up early, someone thankfully was home, and they check the whole house, each of the vents, temperature from AC, and the units outside. It turns out, there was a leak, and we have an old unit that still uses Freon, which is A. Expensive and B. Hard to come by. Different options were available, so we chose to refill the unit, and hope that it lasts awhile longer before more treatment. A new unit would be like 12-20K, which is a lot more than just maintenance. Anyhow, the AC is tremendously noticeably different and cooler, and after post payment research, these guys were on point with pricing, straight up, no funny stuff, overcharging, or grifting. After a recent heat wave with excessive heat warning my ductless split system wasn't working properly. It simply was blowing air around without cooling. So I reached out to a few different HVAC companies on here to get a sense of what I'd need to get done and if they'd even be able to service my system. A couple off the bat indicated they weren't taking on any new customers until the end of summer. Others just sounded incredibly shady like they were just going to charge me a service fee up front and potentially never show up. Some just took too long or never responded (despite the indicated response rate stats on Yelp). Initially all the faceless reviewers, low counts, and 5 star reviews made me doubt the legitimacy of the 5 star rating. However after reaching out, George at Air Tactical was the only one with impeccable communication skills. He responded quickly and once we got on the phone asked all the questions necessary to understand the situation before providing additional steps and outlining what his service rates were and how it would play out. He was direct and it was evident he was experienced and knew what he was talking about. I certainly understand how unfeasible it is to expect anyone to diagnose a problem over the phone (you don't expect a doctor to diagnose you without seeing you), so it wasn't unreasonable that George expressed needing to come out to really be able to figure out the situation. He was assuring in that he would take care of the issue. There were no pressure tactics either. Come the day of the scheduled visit, George called and said he was actually able to come earlier and arrived on time at the newly scheduled time. During the servicing, he explained exactly what he was doing each step of the way to try to figure out the problem. He took the time to answer my questions and to ensure I felt comfortable with everything he was doing. While determining what the issue was he'd show me all his gauges, measurement devices, and educated me on what they should all look like. After determining what the problem was, he presented me with the various options I could make and the potential impacts of each along with the costs associated. George made me feel fully informed when making the decision and despite there being an opportunity to make significantly more with one option versus another, I felt he's one of the few that really just wants to ensure the customer is happy. It's never fun having to pay for unexpected issues such as these, but it's clear that George loves what he does and cares both about doing things correctly and ensuring the customer is happy. It's very rare to find honest businesses especially when it comes to home services like this. During the entire visit he was respectful of my property and made sure to clean up after himself. He even followed up the following day to ensure everything was still functioning well. I'll definitely be calling Air Tactical again in the future should any other HVAC issues come up. read more

Thanks again for a marvelous emergency service installation! George and Strabos (I hope I spelled his name correctly) assisted us with the removal, cleanup and installion of a hot water heater. Long story short, we noticed there was a leak coming from our water heater and we needed it fixed ASAP. After contacting a few on Yelp, only Air Tactical responded quickly and George took down some information and arrived within the window he specified. The entire job took around 2 to 3 hours and they cleaned up the area very nicely. He also upgraded my old valves with easier to use ones. It would have been a faster job if they didn't have to lug the old and new water heater up and down a flight of stairs. The job was competively priced and just the patience and through job was worth every dollar spent. He even called the day after to make sure everything was working fine. Excellent service! Surprised it went this way. Found Air Tactical HVAC via yelp showing great reviews. The reason why I chose them obviously. The good - communicated with George and had a good conversation. Felt comfortable as he was how reviews described him and wanted him to inspect my boiler to see what maintenance would be required or if I should replace the old boiler. Upon inspection, was straightforward and told me the boiler is too old, in bad shape to maintain, and not worth spending the money on. Appreciated the honesty and not making me pay for a service that wouldn't have been required. The money paid towards the inspection would also go towards the work should I continue with replacement. Additionally, he also supports the military and gave me a $25 discount. Ended the inspection with a phone call as I am out of state and work estimate to be provided. All went well. The bad - Upon him completing his inspection, we agreed that I would receive a quote for replacing my boiler with a new one or converting the boiler to ductless. He agreed and told me I would have it soon. This was on a Friday (inspection was probably from 11 am to 11:40 ish). Gave him the day/weekend and followed up the next business day on Monday morning for the work estimate. Stated that I would have it by the end of Tuesday. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and followed up for the 2nd time on Thursday. No response. On Friday afternoon, sent a What the hell message. He apologized and stated the he "believes" he sent the quote to me but will have to "double check" and requested I confirm my email address. Responded immediately with my email address.... Plenty of issues with this. Email was sent to me but doesn't know if it was the correct "right" one and wants me to confirm my email address? Sent the quote to a customer who was asking for it multiple times but doesn't give a heads that you actually sent it? Doesn't know my email address, then why not confirm with me way before Friday. Just felt the BS as he didn't say anything especially until I HAD to contact. That was Friday afternoon when he responded, and as of late Friday evening, verified and did not have the quote. Responded that he would follow up the Saturday morning. At this point, I lost faith and disregarded the quote. I wouldn't be too upset about this had he said he would give the quote a week later, etc from the beginning, or provided a small courtesy text message, phone call, or email, or was just honest with the fault. Constant courtesy reminders on my end was ridiculous. In the process of conducting repairs to the house and been waiting for his part. Wasn't there for the service as I am stationed in a different state than my home he inspected so I can't speak of his inspection on site. Mainly going off trust here. I was surprised that he concluded his inspection pretty fast but all felt well communication wise. But for the service paid for a quick job, astounded to not receive something we agreed upon and deal with someone not upholding his own word. Should I have received the estimate, I would have agreed to conduct the replacement job. read more

George gave me an appointment for that afternoon between 3 and 5. George and Carlos arrived promptly and asked me to describe what was happening as George opened the furnace door. Before I finished, he had found the problem: the fan & motor. George said he would do his very best to get the part on Saturday since I now had no heat. Early Saturday morning George called to say he was picking up the parts and would be over soon. Just about 24 hours after he arrived to diagnose the problem, it was fixed. George & Carlos stayed for about a half an hour to make sure everything was working fine. George even called Monday the ask if all was OK. Through the recommendation of a friend, I hired Air Tactical to fix my central air conditioner after being told by 3 other companies that it needed to be replaced. In with a bang, out with a whimper. Used his services a few times, mostly for changing filters on the furnaces and just making sure everything was running properly. He seemed to be a one man operation, always answering the phone himself, and appearing alone when he came here. He does not work on a contract basis so it cost me a fair amount each time he came. This last time I called for a check on only my AC condensers outside since the furnaces and filters had already been checked and it was too early to switch such to AC when that was done. Well, it was not George who appeared, but some really young "wet behind the ears" kid, who told me he had replaced a "battery" in one unit. Battery? There are no batteries, but there are capacitors which get checked if the unit is not running. They were all running and working perfectly. He said it was no big deal, only $25.00 for the battery. I told him if he found that the other two needed replacement he could leave and I would get someone else in to check that out. Needless to say, the other two appeared to be fine! I then went outside and found him trying to take the nozzle off my hose. He didn't know clockwise from counterclockwise and wound up with it so jammed it required a wrench to remove it and he ruined the nozzle. I had to replace it. He then took out a jar of some liquid, poured it all over the units and started hosing them. I asked him what on earth he was doing and he said he was "cleaning" them. Hey, if I wanted the units given a sponge bath, I would have done it myself. Seems as though he was trying to spend more time so I could be charged more. Bottom line? I was charged over $1000.00 for this "visit". That was the straw that broke the camel's back. He basically did nothing, ruined my hose nozzle, soaked my units and I paid for the privilege. There was no problem with my units, all were working just fine. There is no way George will ever get my business again. As this kid walked away I uttered the words "Good-bye, George." Should have been "good riddance". My units were soaked and so was I. read more

I simply can't say enough positive things about George and the team at Air Tactical HVAC. Honest, hardworking, extremely nice and they will go out of their way to make sure the job is done right! I came home after two weeks away in January to my boiler not working and no heat (during freezing temps). I called Air Tactical HVAC based on their positive Yelp reviews. George arrived within an hour (despite the late hour) and discovered that my aging boiler was cracked and needed to be replaced. He explained the issue in great detail and showed me that it was leaking. He gave me a fair price for replacement (I researched and his quote was in line with with average price for NYC) and he was able to track down a new boiler and install it within a couple days. Despite several challenges due to my aging house (faulty wiring, complex plumbing, etc.), George and Angelo were patient and persistent. They had to build the boiler from scratch and rewire the thermostat, but did not charge me any additional labor costs despite it taking two full days.
