Wow! Ben is the real deal! Use him for all your AC needs! Our AC went out and our home warranty sent out a team that wanted to to charge us $4k just to "gain access." This is an interesting one. I reached out to 15 HVAC/AC contractors, via text, sourced from Yelp. Usually I use Google but there seems to be a lot more transparent experiences with this industry through Yelp. Out of those 15 Contractors, not one responded to text, literally not one. I was baffled. Coming from a small business owners back round, I would think at least a response would be the standard, let alone it being the dead of winter and it literally snowed in the desert yesterday so this isn't exactly busy season. For those who don't know there is a "request a quote" option on most business pages for service based businesses. So I gave this route a shot. When you do this there is an option to send the same request to multiple companies so you are able to get bids on what it is you need. Funny enough, unlike text, if you don't respond in a timely manner to a Yelp users request it directly reflects on the response time and percentage of customers the company actually responds to. This is Yelps way of holding business owners accountable. I get multiple companies on the horn, listen to their pitch, and can't believe the rates they're charging basically for labor. If you take the time to break it down it's baffling. I have Plastic Surgeons in the family that don't make this hourly rate. That being said I finally got a hold of Ben who was the last company that was sent a quote request. Ben was the only Owner that got back to me in less than 5 minutes. Which isn't expected, but very nice. He was open to see me on the spot but I had other obligations. We set an appointment and he was right on time. He walk me through every aspect of the job. Explained everything in a clear and easy manner to understand. The differences between r22 and 410a, Ser ratings, all the good stuff. Wasn't pushy, didn't force recommendations, it was just easy in an industry that's full of hustlers who try to squeeze you for max value. Ben worked with me on amazing pricing, installed the unit the next day, no issues, no hassle, and had a crane the size of a building come out to drop in the unit for no extra charge. Extreme heat in Vegas and AC was out in one of my rentals. My tenant called and so I needed to get someone over ASAP. Called 3 different companies to get quotes and picked one that seemed reasonable over the phone... a guy named Michael came did what he did, and charged me $197 said he had to replace a small part and service fee and everything should be working fine. Two days later my tenant calls again and guess what the AC isn't working again so I call Michael again who after leaving 3 messages over a two day period wouldn't even return my calls... Well I couldn't wait much longer so I called Airtech. This was one of the 3 called I originally made and a guy name Ben said he was super busy but promised to arrive between 2-4pm that day. Ben came and took care of the AC that day. I waited for one week to make sure that there weren't any issues and indeed everything is working great. My tenant said Ben was professional and super nice. Ben charged me a reasonable service fee and said the unit is super old and needs to be changed. He said there's no part that needs replacement and that the unit needs freeon fir now. He recommended we wait a couple of months when prices are down and install a new unit. I am so impressed with him that I will only use Ben from. Is in for all my rentals. I can't give off enough good graces about Ben and his team. My old split unit started making a loud noise. Turns out the compressor was shot. I called 3 HVAC companies. The first company came on time. He suggested to replace the unit not even explaining the issue with my current one. He also mentioned that I need a higher BTU unit where the old one was working just fine for 8 years. He suggested adding another indoor unit on the 1st floor but I never had an issue with my single unit. I can't understand why he is trying to up sell me on items I don't need. The second appointment was cancelled 1 hour before the arrival time for whatever reason. After I heard "cancel", I didn't need to hear anymore. My 3rd appointment was with Air Tech which came on a Tuesday on time at 9:30AM. I was told that the compressor is shot and that it can be replaced but due to its age, it wasn't worth it. Was shown a whole bunch of air conditioning companies but was recommended the YMGI group for my application. It cost more for a new unit VS changing the compressor in my old unit but for the peace of mind and future headaches elsewhere in the system, I decided to go with a new unit. Installation started a week later (date of my choosing). Ben was there initially and then his workers went at it. He called me 2 hours later and again 3 hours afterwards to address any concerns. He returned around 4ish to make sure everything was done correctly (which it was) and to close out the day. They returned the next day early in the morning to complete the job. All units were installed completed and tested. The installation was done very neatly and they cleaned up after themselves. Ben stayed behind as the workers left. He started to explain the new features of the unit which my old one did not have. He also went through the maintenance procedures and what noises to expect from the unit so there are no surprises. I had no further questions but was told if I do have any in the future or run into something unfamiliar, that I should contact him immediately. I am very pleased with the outcome and the price was very fair. I would highly recommend (and have already done so to my neighbors/friends) Air Tech to anyone. Don't think twice. Shop around if needed but chances are you will end up with the same decision I made. read more
