Came here for happy hour with a group of coworkers and unfortunately left pretty disappointed. Before coming, we called twice to confirm that our group would be able to split the bill. We were told both times that it wouldn't be a problem. When it came time to pay, we were suddenly told the entire bill had to go on one card. We explained that we had specifically called ahead to verify this, but they weren't willing to make an exception or help resolve the situation, even though their staff had given us incorrect information multiple times. That really put a damper on the experience. For food, I ordered the three tacos for $12 during happy hour. They were just okay. They're marketed as Korean tacos, but the chicken taco had American-style BBQ sauce on it, which felt a little odd. It didn't really deliver on the Korean-inspired concept. I also ordered the Italian Aire for $19. There were no drinks on the happy hour menu. It wasn't a very strong drink, and I probably wouldn't order it again. The rooftop itself is nice, spacious, and in a convenient location, so it's a good place to meet up with friends or coworkers. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were pretty average, and the service, especially the way the billing situation was handled, I probably won't be back. read more

On the 24th floor of the Hyatt Centric The Loop. We stayed at the hotel so thought we would head up to the rooftop for some pre-dinner cocktails. WOW! Phenomenal view of the city. And it was a perfect 70 degrees, sunny, and perfect weather. I had a dirty martini. It was very standard and exactly how it should be made. There are seats along the glass so you can look straight out into the Chicago skyline. There are also tables and couches. Great place to take pics and have some pre-dinner cocktails before heading somewhere else. As always, I recommend coming right at sunset for the best views and best photos. read more

A frosty perfect for those hot summer days. The beef barbacoa tacos had an excellent taste with mouth-melting beef. The carnitas tacos: the hard-to-resist smokey sweetness of roasted peppers, with meat stewed close to a melting point, are very hard to resist. Pesto shrimp flatbread: what Sicilian pizza ought to be Spicy chicken wrap: a complete healthy meal in a hand wrap. On Fridays they have a DJ mixing it up, and on Sundays they offer "Concerts Under the Stars" with live music that will be varied. From Abba to Sinatra, Lizzo to Beyoncé, is sure to be amazing. How do NASCAR fans tailgate when the race is in the middle of Chicago, you go to a roof top bar of course.... Aire is located on the 24th floor of the Hyatt not far from Michigan avenue in the heart of downtown. Offering both casual and table service, one can actually hear the roar of the race cars only a few blocks away. Although we were dreaming of Busch light tall boys, decided to pursue a couple of their red eyes and craft beers. Great spot to hang and catch some views when in town. read more

Really nice space, the staff are very kind. However, the timeliness of service is deplorable. They tell you to sit in specific places to have service, but no one checks on you. After forgetting about service and ordering drinks and food at the bar (mind you a 15 min wait min), we do get drinks, but food is said to be running late, so expect 10-20 min wait. No problem, I appreciate the honesty up front. An hour later, we finally get the food. It was too late for us to ditch the place without our order, so we stuck it out. But I'll not likely be back unless I have hours to waste for a really great view. read more

This was such a gem of a find while me and my friend were out in chicago. Great views and great weather for us to have drinks and chat. It is on the top floor of the hotel, which we weren't staying at, but the bar was open seating and the staff were very friendly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu items and checked in regularly even as it got busy. The crowd was a little older which me and my friend appreciated, but as it got later a swarm of younger kids rolled in but the staff handled that crowd very well and placed them in a lounge area away from the rest of the patrons. After a day roaming around the Art Institute, I had worked up a thirst and decided this would be the perfect time to check out a new (to me) rooftop spot. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of buzz - lively but not overwhelming/crowded- at this rooftop bar located on the 24th floor of the Hyatt Centric hotel. I ordered a glass of Sancerre which I savored while taking in panoramic views of the city and Lake Michigan. I had fun eavesdropping on a nearby wedding party - they had just come from a nearby church and were enjoying some delectable-looking watermelon margaritas. The experience had me feeling like a tourist in my own city, in the best way possible. I appreciated the plastic cups and water available to encourage guests to stay hydrated. It's not too often that you see a bartender get into a fight with the bar back and then storm off! They didn't have to cut the music while doing so... the bar back seemed to have to be pulling a lot of weight that night. The elevator situation was strange, I guess we took the wrong set unknowingly and had to walk up a flight through a kinda creepy stairwell. It was dark on the rooftop. All of the seating areas were not lit. Just people drinking in the dark. We went to the bar to order. It was chaotic and the bartender told us to get in a line.. and then made drinks and brought them to his friends at the end of the line (that he was doing shots with later). A good bartender would have taken his situation as an opportunity to hustle and make good money- but he instead made everyone feel like a burden. We just got one beer each and left. Aire has a wonderful environment! A perfect spot to take friends visiting the city or coworkers after a long day at the office. They don't "officially" have a happy hour menu, but the drinks are delicious. The food I saw looked great as well. It can get a little crowded, but you can rent out part of the rooftop for parties and events. I think this place would look even better in the fall. Check your receipt! I came here with co-workers for a drink. Ordered a bourbon neat. Receipt arrives and my bourbon is $14 and under there is a charge of $3 for "Neat Pour". I asked the server about the charge and she says that it's because it's a "fancy" pour. I had to explain to this city slicker that "neat" is literally pouring it out of the bottle to the glass-nothing "fancy" about that. She got huffy and got her manager when she realized that I wasn't going to fall for their up-charge scheme. Manager came over and said that this is standard for Chicago bars. I explained to him that I had been to other places that didn't do that. He eventually agreed to take the "fancy pour" charge off. After that, the server was rude when bringing the ticket. If you want to get a tip from me, just bring me my drink and be nice. Decided to pop in to start off my Sunday Funday, thankfully the place was slow paced. The weather was perfect so finding a table was very easy. The rooftop was very clean and gave off upscale vibes with the music playing at a mid volume. Conn our server was very helpful and gave lots of positive energy. Came for drinks after work, arrived around 4:45 and all tables were sat. I put my name in with the hostess and ordered a drink from the bar. I was told an approximate 20 minute wait. I noticed a table got up to leave after being sat and never having a server come take an order, new people were sat but those people had come in after me.... we left an hour or so after putting in our name. A friend was sitting at a table with the girl who'd been in front of me in line so my name had come up, but I was not called for my table. There was also a private event and they were taking up majority of the bar space so no server for the event?? There was only one bartender for the bar and one bartender to make server drinks but at least three servers. The hostesses acted like they had no clue what was going on when I'd asked to put my name on the list. Understaffed, poor training, overpriced drinks. Would not revisit or recommend. read more

This is a great, calm bar. It was very quiet as far as the music goes so it was great for conversation! Their drinks were a bit on the pricey side, but they were delicious. There were a couple of things that could've been improved, such as picking up empty glasses. By the time the evening was wrapping up, there were an incredible amount of empty glasses sitting around. I would say there could've been more seating as well. It definitely was challenging to find somewhere for us to sit, and was frustrating because we had someone in our group who couldn't stand for too long. Finally, I think they need a better system at the bar for taking orders. They have some tables where a waitress comes around, but then on the other side of the space, the tables have no waitress which was very confusing. I would say it might be better to allocate all the staff to behind the bar (especially late at night on weekends) instead of having waitresses, because it took awhile to get our order in for drinks. read more

We sat at the bar but it was still pretty chilly. Dress accordingly! The view was lovely. It was Martini Monday so my partner had the Spicy Margatini with Cucumber Jalapeño Vodka and lime juice lined with Taijin. It was different but pretty good! Aire is a rooftop bar with 'small plates' located atop the Hyatt Centric the Loop hotel. Access to the rooftop is simple and attained through the main entrance of the hotel. There are two sets of elevators that can take you up. One is for guests with a hotel access card. The other is for guests. The guest elevator takes you up to one floor beneath the rooftop, you must take steps the rest of the way. If you have elderly or handicapped members in your party, you may request with the help desk, if they can "swipe" you up to the rooftop via hotel elevator. Tables and seating is first come first serve. Larger tables are communal depending. Two methods of receiving drinks or food: Waitstaff with abysmal service or direct at the bar. People (w/ Aire knowledge) tend to sit closest to the bar. Service is expedient there. Views from anywhere on that rooftop are best. If you are a person that loves catching content for your ___insert social media here__ ; check! The view from the top is beautiful. If their waitstaff were a) better prepared. b) customer friendly c) not fucking lazy. d) Trained appropriately. The experience might be as comforting as a stay at the Hyatt. I realize these days, staffing goes through many problems due to Covid. But wow.. you will not believe the incompetency. Actually it isn't being incompetent. I think it's a learned behavior that they, waitstaff, just don't give a flying F*. If your party, plans to be there an hour or two before close, be prepared to sit at unclean tables and/ or doing a bit of bussing tables yourselves. Staff tends to think, it's the end of their night, so why bother cleaning up. ** If management is reading. It is unhygienic and of poor regard to allow your bar staff to leave tables full of used glass, tablewares and leftover food. FFS I did mention that Covid is still going on right? Speaking of which, don't forget to byob hand sanitizer. Also, try to remember which glass is yours. Picking up and sipping from the wrong glass may give you the heebie jeebies. Read their reviews. Many are giving stars mainly for the view. I might check them out again just for drinks from the bar. If bringing a date or people that you care for, advise them that the service is subpar. Went last night around 8:15 pm and there wasn't a host, so we stood there for a while wondering wtf to do. Finally, we just walked out onto the rooftop and were told it was open seating as the server brushed past with a bunch of dishes. Open seating, but dirty tables, so even though we could sit anywhere had to wait for someone to clean the table we wanted. Honestly, we weren't even tripping at that point. So, once we finally sat down and looked over the menu the waitress comes over to tell us the kitchen is closed. How sway when you close at 10 pm? I was immediately irritated at this point. The waitress tried to suggest other food options near us and have us order drinks, but we just left. It didn't make sense to drink on an empty stomach. We specifically came to eat and drink. First and foremost, I wanted to love this place. I truly did. When we arrived there wasn't a host at the front and we also didn't receive any sort of greeting when we walked in. A server finally did notice us and told us to order our drinks at the bar and have a seat wherever we wanted. Which I initially was fine with but then I seen he was taking orders for tables that had walked in after us but were 4 or more, so I am only assuming he thought because we were a table of two his tip wouldn't be big therefore we had to order at the bar. We seen that a couch area was open and nobody was sitting at it, so I asked a staff member if it was okay that we sat there and she said yes. Once I walked away from the table to order my bottle from the bar like I was told to do, my partner was approached by Francisco the "manager" and was told we couldn't sit there so we needed to move now because that's reserved for party's of 7 or more with a minimum amount to spend. Which I thought was insane because this isn't bottle service at a club, it's a rooftop with cocktails and small bites... I was at the bar when that conversation happened and he thought it was a great idea to now approach me after already telling my partner we couldn't sit there. He came up to me VERY RUDELY and said "uh just so you know you can't sit there, that's for bigger groups, you can go find a seat somewhere else or maybe the bar, there's a few seats there" I looked at him in utter shock because why are you approaching and talking to a customer like this, I then told him "that's no problem and I'd find a different table and declined his offer for the bar seats" he then CONTINUED with the rudeness and said "WHAT DID YOU SAY? There's no need for attitude or for you to be a dramatic woman". I looked at him in UTTER SHOCK and told him I heard him the first time, I would be moving and he needed to calm down with the way he spoke to me. He stormed off and I ordered my bottle and sat at another table. The bartender who attended me was very apologetic as he knew Francisco was rude and in the wrong. Now I don't ever write reviews, this may just be my first but I couldn't believe what happened. I should've taken my business elsewhere and not even dealt with this establishment and their horrible management but I was celebrating and it was getting late so we just wanted to drink our champagne and go. If this is something the owners and upper management condone at this place then you will be in for a rude awakening when more and more people realize this place is not welcoming and it's staff is beyond disrespectful. I was trying to enjoy my night and Francisco nearly ruined it but the moment his what I can only assume were friends or people who previously worked there arrived, the nasty attitude wore off, they had a 12 pack of drinks clearly not from the restaurant and were even able to order food after my partner and I were told the kitchen was closed. Again, I really wanted to love this place as rooftop season is almost over in the city and I was just extremely disappointed and underwhelmed by the management and service. We were on our way to an event in the city and stopped here for a drink and appetizer. It's on the 24th floor of the hotel and the views are great. There was no one at the host stand and we waited for a minute before heading in. I walked over to the bar and a bartender mentioned it was open seating. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday so of course there were plenty of options. By the time we left an hour later all the seating was gone and it was standing room only. I'm not a big drinker and don't like it when my cocktail tastes boozy. The peach fizz was nice and light without being overly sweet. The flat bread and hummus were great and larger portions than expected. Our server was friendly. It appeared he had lots of tables so service was a bit slow (not his fault). We could have walked up to the bar to order. We were still able to have drinks and food in an hour. We wanted to stop at the restroom on the way out. My husband checked the 24th floor and couldn't find one. We took an elevator ride down to the ground floor and asked a woman at the front desk if the bar had a restroom. She politely informed us that there is a bathroom on the 23rd floor or you could travel down to the basement level of the hotel to use the restroom there. We aren't at bars in the city much these days. I would stop here again if in the area. read more
