Our gas heater stopped working and we called another company we'd used 15 years ago to come out and fix it. I told the repairman I thought the problem was a circuit board they replaced 15 years ago. After lots of poking around and taking photos, he told me the problem wasn't the circuit board and that my heater had to be replaced immediately. He listed all the things broken, and by the end I was relieved our whole house hadn't gone up in a ball of fire! The next day their salesman spent 2.5 hours going through the entire house, and came up with a $21-28K "solution" to our heating and AC problems (our central AC works fine, but the salesman insisted it also needs replacing). Very suspicious of the hard sell and humongous price tag, I called Airmaxx to get a quote for a new heater. Alex arrived and instead of trying to sell me a new unit, he first examined the old one to see if it was really beyond repair. An hour later the heater was working like a champ (surprise! The circuit board needed to replaced.) Alex checked the system and assured me that there were no safety issues. And when this heater did finally give out, he gave a ballpark of cost for a new heater that was 25% lower than the previous company to just replace that unit. This is customer service at its finest! Airmaxx understands that "trust" doesn't mean just plastering that word on your TV ads, website and trucks: it's something your company earns by treating every customer with honesty and integrity. Any issue I have had they send someone out that day or the following morning. I had a leak in my roof that was not related to the AC and when one of them saw it they patched it free of charge. These guys are good! Gilbert explained why my HVAC system wasn't heating properly after testing: A) Low refrigerant B) Very dirty filter. He gave options to fix on the spot, or to replace the entire unit, suggesting either a Carrier or AC Pro. Both were very pricey, either ~ $12k or ~ $8,800. I opted for the immediate fix for $450 and will consider replacing my system if the short term fix doesn't work. Today's $450 charge would be credited to a new unit if I go that route. Used Yelp to contact Airmaxx and they responded very quickly and scheduled a free diagnostic within the next 24 hours! Cory came by to check what was going on with my HVAC system and determined that the thermostat was broken and was messing with the wiring. He suggested to get the thermostat replaced and mentioned that it will be cheaper to purchase my own rather than have him fix it on the spot with the basic thermostat models he had in the truck. Although I had never messed with thermostat wiring before, he said it was easy to learn, so I took his advice and replaced my own thermostat, which did the trick! Our air-conditioning unit decided to stop working and Ozzy from air max truly saved me from suffering from heat exhaustion. Ozzy himself is a very friendly and kind person - even locking the garden side gate with our padlock, back up on his way out . The aircon failure arrived with me dealing with a mercury poisoning health crisis and heat makes the neuro and peripheral neuropathy so much worse. We have been slowly updating our home from it's original 1980s hardware recently, and one of the last things on our list was air conditioning. Our furnace made unusually loud sounds when the AC kicked on and then it started rattling. Having a toddler and an infant, we needed to get this fixed ASAP. I've been a loyal Airmaxx customer since 2018 and continue to recommend them as they remain my #1 choice for heating and air. I've used Airmaxx now to install heating/air conditioning for three residential properties: one whole-home installation of central air + new heater in a 1,300sf home without pre-existing air conditioning; 7 mini-split/heat-pump units in a ~3,000sf two-story beach-house also without pre-existing air conditioning (which look great); and a replacement mini-split for a guest-house. I have also had them come out to inspect units free of charge (which turned out to NOT be problems at all, rather a mistake on my part... still no charge!). There are a number of reasons Airmaxx stands out above the rest, and why I highly recommend them: 1. Alex, the business owner, goes out of his way to speak with customers directly and will accommodate individual requests whenever possible. The old, original broken mini-split unit in the guest-house was not a brand that Airmaxx sells, so initially their admin told me they would not come to inspect/ repair it. Shortly after, I spoke to Alex and despite their policy, he sent two employees to inspect the unit anyways. It turned out to be broken and not-reparable (I trusted their assessment since their explanation made total sense) and Alex offered me options for new units of varying price ranges, without any pressure to buy a more expensive unit. 2. Installation is CLEAN and looks professionally done, which is important if you are particular about how things look (like I am). Our mini-split units were thoughtfully placed to maximize cooling/heating functionality, and largely out of sight (i.e. so they aren't the first thing you see when walking into a room). There was one unit that we wanted moved to a different location AFTER they had already fully installed it, and they moved the unit to our preferred location WITHOUT HESITATION. Also, the external wiring/ducting components running along the outside of the house were placed in discrete locations and were done neatly. No one notices them. NOT ALL COMPANIES DO THIS! There's a lot of wiring/ducting that comes with installation and it's easy to get lazy here. Airmaxx doesn't miss this important detail! 3. Every Airmaxx employee who has ever stepped into one of my properties is respectful and clean. They wear protective booties over their shoes and clean/ vacuum any mess once done. It's as if they were never here! They're also normal, nice people who I feel comfortable having in my home and around my children. 4. I've never been pressured to upgrade or buy more expensive options...ever. 5. I've had NO issues with any of the (extensive) work Airmaxx has done on the three properties. 6. They were straightforward with estimating all of the (many) state and federal credits for upgrading to more energy efficient units... and all those credits came through, saving us A LOT of money! 7. Our outdoor AC unit was been turning off and not working efficiently. I was getting quotes to replace the unit, and Gilbert Cortez with Airmaxx came by to consult. He offered to diagnose the system free of charge first to see if he can diagnose the issue and if it can be repaired. I worked with three other HVAC technicians from different companies and Gilbert was the most though! He isolated the problem and efficiently diagnosed the unit. My air conditioning began to work again so I called to cancel the appointment. He was not rude or angry or dismissive. He did tell me that he thinks there is A problem with the unit but just a call if it stops working again. These are the kind of businesses you wanna deal with. He didn't try to scare me and tell me that my whole thing was going to blow up if I didn't have them come out right now. About a year and a half ago we had a company install a new AC unit outside. Two weeks ago, it stopped working even though the air inside was still blowing. We had them come back to check it out (it was a MAJOR pain to get a hold of them) and the guy said it was a thermostat issue, not the AC unit. I decided to call someone else to come check and reached out to Airmaxx. I am SO glad I did. Alex came and was so thorough. Turns out it had nothing to do with the thermostat, but was due to a blockage in the pipes that allow the condensation in our attic unit to flow into the bathroom drainage. Alex was so detailed, making sure he ruled out every other possible cause and talking me through it as he went. He even got under the bathroom sink and cleaned out some clogged pipes which was definitely NOT in the scope of his services. For major home repairs like HVAC, it is so stressful not knowing who you can trust, especially with the amount of money you need to put into those repairs. We're going to Airmaxx from now on. Calling Airmaxx on a Friday, I was given an 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. appointment the following Monday for an evaluation.
