2nd bite, 1st Waffle Dog...
Joey M.

"I don't wanna get a movie hot dog! [in tears] I want a Papaya King hot dog! - Cosmo Kramer, Seinfeld da Scene: visiting for a few weeks and headed to Kakaako Farmers for breakfast and gifts to bring home. Tucked into the 1st corner when you cross to the 2nd side is the Aiwi Waffle truck... as I scan the menu, I see Waffle Dog and my mind spins into nostalgia. I immediately order one up and while waiting thoughts of KC Drive Inn Kapalulu memories flood back. Countless nights spent cruising Waikiki ending with a Waffle Dog and Ono Ono Shake in the parking lot with friends. Anticipation... da Grub: Harmony is my best description. Crisp yet tender waffle hugs the all beef frank closely, all enveloping, almost like it was a dipped corn dog. Yet it had all the score marks and texture of a waffle! The frank itself is juicy, plump perfection, semi-med grind showed little glistening pockets... savory perfection! The Honey Mustard took it to another level, bringing some sweetness and tang at the same time. da Service: They made me feel like a calabash cousin, and while chatting found a California connection as they spent some time living in the East Bay! I actually rushed away to catchup with my family and took my 1st bite walking away... my knees almost buckled it was so good! After we circled the market I made my daughter go back with me to grab another one and take some pics... they are SO NICE! Bay Area peeps show some love, you must check out this Aiwi Waffle Dog on your next visit to Oahu! Found them at Kakaako Farmers, and am already planning a visit to their storefront in Waikiki!!

Amazing! Everything is gluten free and so delicious! My 7 year old is a waffle lover and said they are better than any gluten waffle! Wonderful service! Will come back to this gem

I love mochi waffle anything and this has got to be hands down the BEST waffle place I've been to on island. I got their banana mac nut waffle, their banana lumpia waffle and their house cold brew. Delicious! Prices may seem steep, but trust me you can taste the quality in the Ingredients here. I feel like I'm not even that big of a foodie to be able to tell quality of honey, but when I say this honey is different!! It totally is. I don't know how to describe it other than it tastes expensive. The workers are so nice and friendly here , they helped give me recommendations on what's good and I love that they have outdoor seating for you to enjoy everything. Highly recommend!

Saw the is truck during the Saturday Kaka'ako market and immediately thought in my head "Waffle Dog". I remember as a kid in the early 90's visiting my Uncle on the island, he introduced a place (KC's) known for their waffle dogs. Seeing this on Aiwi menu instantly got me in nostalgic mode and had to try it. It was delicious!

Super friendly service. Located on the second floor of this building. Outdoor seating with a nice view. The waffle dog was very tasty, especially with their house honey mustard sauce. The cold brew was tasty too- I should've stirred it up a lot more before because of the maple syrup sits on the bottom. The whipped cream was very tasty

We were lucky enough to stumble in here on the day of their soft opening. They are on the second floor of the Ohana Hale building, with a lovely space overlooking the park. Mr. M tried the waffle dog and the banana wafflelumpia. Both were really good. The owners are great. I hope today is the first day of a wildly successful venture!

Absolutely phenomenal GF waffles. I love the consistency and texture--the mochi makes it a little chewy. The owner came up with an amazing recipe. Only wish the coconut cream was dairy free so I could've tried it! Also, the girl working, Eva, was super sweet and friendly.

Was intrigued by the idea of Gluten Free and organic waffles. I normally don't like Gluten free things because you can taste the difference - NOT these though! Absolutely delicious. We got the Berry Medley and loved it. It came with Maple Syup on the side, but didn't need it, waffle was tasty and chewy without it.

Happened upon this truck tucked in the corner at Kakaako Farmer's Market on Saturday and couldn't just walk past Banana Lumpia meets Mochi Waffle, y'all W H A T? One order comes with 2 for $14 Brother taking orders recommended adding whip cream, coconut custard, and honey. Y E S, pleaseandthankyou ($1 each) It takes a bit of time but Aiwi (pronounced Ivy) is worth the wait!

Had the mixed berry waffles with coconut cream on the side. So perfectly golden and crisp on the outside.

Very Berry Mochi Base Waffle with Ube Custard (gluten free!)
Han N.

I came shortly after they opened, and they were very busy, but so friendly and gracious. I love that they have a mochi base option since I'm gluten free and everything is made with so much care. I got the Very Berry with Ube Custard and it was so good! I didn't even need the maple syrup. I also appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. I need to go back to try the other flavors!

Fantastic food, fantastic service. Fully 10/10. Sourdough waffle batter was incredibly and the waffle hot dogs were ridiculously good.

Keeping waters filled is a basic duty of waitstaff and our cups remained empty until we requested refills. The food was also delivered at different times which created the awkward "I will wait to eat until you get your food" moment. My fish burrito had all of the right textures but the flavor was a bit bland. I spiced it up with pico de gallo and sour cream from my son's nachos. They offered a 10% military discount which was appreciated. They also tacked on a 20% large party surcharge for our group of six which was not appreciated. Our check for our party of six was $217 before the discount and tip. We ordered six entrees and no drinks. The overall cost seemed a bit steep for the experience provided.

However I did notice that the portions coming out of the kitchen were generous. We came for an early dinner. Pro tip: bring your sunglasses because the setting sun is at eye level from about 5:30pm - 7pm. We ended up ordering off the appetizer menu, which worked out perfectly because it was more than enough food for us. The poke was very good. The fish tasted fresh, and the marinade and seasoning were spot on. The baby back ribs portion was also quite generous. The ribs themselves were good, though not amazing in my opinion. They were a bit chewy and grainy and could have benefited from more time in the marinade for deeper flavor. Overall, the service was good and we enjoyed the experience. Happy eating!! 46

The açai wasn't as refreshing compared to what I had at "Tropical tribe" but I much preferred the freshness of the fruit, portions and cost here at Goofy's. The Piña Colada Smoothie was also delish! The fish was perfectly crispy with fresh slaw and really creamy sauces. The tortillas for the tacos tasted very fresh too, which made them even better. Both entrées came with lemon wedges that added a nice bright touch. The fish and chips were great and the fries were perfectly crisp. I still think about the crème brûlée. The texture and caramelized top were spot on. Portions were generous as well. We were staying at a nearby resort so it was an easy walk for us. The service was good, although we came when there was not much of a line. The truck is located in a lot with several other food trucks so it is easy to find. I cannot speak to parking since we walked. There are a couple of benches in front where you can sit and enjoy your food, and the truck sits under a huge tree which gives some nice shade from the heat. I read rave reviews on here for the fish tacos so I orderes them and they did not disappoint. The vegan sour cream is so creamy, thr coleslaw is perfectly tangy and crunchy, and the vegan fish is delightful. My husband got the chicken tacos which were hot, in contrast to the fish tacos. They had avocado and a green sauce and we also liked these though the fish were our favorite. The hibiscus lemonade was lovely and refreshing also. The service here is very fast. You would never guess that they are gluten-free and vegan. It's cute you walk in there are pictures and quotes and post-its from all over the place from people who have visited. There are a few tables and chairs outside and inside and the bakery is air-conditioned. When you walk in to the left is their display case which mainly has cookies donuts muffins bread. Then you have the ordering window, which has some of the hot items like the pizza roll. Everything that I've had has been 10 out of 10 as far as gluten-free baked items go it is great texture. Good quality made fresh. I noticed that the cookies are crunchy on the outside. Chewy on the inside, the muffins are delightful, sweet and light. The bread is quite heavy in terms of weight but as you eat it, it taste light so it is very nice and filling and has a subtle mochi or tapioca starch texture, which I love, especially if you're going to toast The bagel or the bread. This is an absolute jam when it comes to accommodating those with dietary restrictions, but even if you are not eating a restrictive diet, the baked items are really delicious too. You can order a gluten-free cake as well. Given at least five days notice ordering ahead. They don't have a designated convenient, free parking stall, but there is a paid parking open air lot across the street and also a covered underground parking structure right next-door and there's ample Street parking nearby .
