    Loco Moco

Enjoyed the outdoor restaurant on a beautiful morning! Customer service was good. The loco moco could have used a little more gravy and the potatoes from the Build Your Own Omelet were a little dry. Perhaps I'll need to go back and order other items.

We went to Menehune Grille after a long day of travel as we are staying at a nearby hotel. We got seared right away and it took a few minutes for our waiter to come to our table but all the tables were full so no problem there. We had enough time to look at the menu so we ordered cocktails and our food at the same time. Our cocktails were good - nothing to rave about but we enjoyed them. Our food took so long we waited around 40 minutes after we finished our cocktails to receive the two dishes we ordered. We were told 3x by a couple different staff that our food would be out shortly, and it just wasn't. We ordered the social which was a blackened ahi ban mi. It was okay but I don't think it warranted the $35 price. The atmosphere was lovely, open air with garden and harbor views. Wish we would have had a better first eating experience upon arrival to the island.

Came here strictly for the Kona Mocha Latte, so I can't review on food. I did a quick online order to pick up while on my afternoon Sunday stroll. Employees were all very nice and friendly. Kona coffee flavor was prominent, with some chocolate but not overpowering the delicate flavors. Would come back to try food next time too. Located inside the Ilikai Hotel.

Went to Menehune Grill located in the Ilikai Resort, great open air restaurant/bar. We went for a late lunch and shared the grilled chicken sandwich. It had a great flavor and was prepared well. The service was good and friendly. Great location in the resort for getting a drink, watching a game or getting a bite to eat.

Hostess was completely and literally rude, because she did t hear me as I said party of (3) she didn't respond thought I heard her say follow me as there were many tables. Available, she decided to put me on a wait list and serve 4 other parties prior to me the only reason I was seated is someone asked surprised "your on a wait list we got it after that, food was decent service were great overpriced for the experience if you're not happy as your job as a server do better for yourself

I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend who is a fan of the local band, Fresh Breeze Band. We didn't know the restaurant, but we were lucky to meet the owner, a local family. They were very friendly and open to our suggestions. We had a hula dancer performance with the band, which played the song requested by the restaurant's customers and welcomed the dancers as well. It was a lively atmosphere, with a mix of tourists and locals enjoying a weekend day. I ordered egg Benedict with Canadian bacon and potatoes. There were island fruits for breakfast, which I was very tempted to try, but decided to save them for the next time. My friend asked for more Hawaiian food menus to be served in the future and more of his favorite band performances. We have to wait and see about more Hawaiian dish requests, but the band is performing every other Saturday now! By the way, the Egg Benedict was yummy, and the Kauai shrimp I tasted out of my friend's omelet was meaty and scrumptious. I also feel the dishes are reasonably priced, given the location and Hawaii's cost of living. Last but not least, the server was equally friendly and attentive; even though the place was constantly busy, our glasses with water were always full without asking. I didn't use the bar area, and I probably will not ever since I don't drink, but people seem to enjoy the service there, too. Overall, it was a very light and lively mood near the water and hotel's inner court yard. Recommended to experience a spirit of aloha with and in the level of local community.

the tip that was automatically added even after we did tip. Just noticed the part about paying by card or cash. We did pay cash that night.

Located at Ilikai Hotel. There was 8 of us in our party and the host said they don't take reservations on Friday nights because of the hula show and fireworks. After a 30 minute wait, the host decided to seat us in the dining room instead of the patio area. This was perfect because we had the whole place to ourselves. Our server, Jason, did the best he could to get what we needed despite the fact that 1) I don't think they were expecting to have us in the dining room and 2) we still had to ask more than once to get waters refilled or to get silverware. The food came simultaneously as the fireworks started so we were able to view them right by our table. Our server told us we could go out the balcony for our own private viewing! Everyone loved their food. The steaks were cooked as requested and they enjoyed it. My mom liked her shrimp. We had nachos as an appetizer and it was enough for everyone. The portions were generous. Then as a treat, our server played the piano for us. Overall, the dining experience on this evening was amazing. My daughter had the best birthday so far! Thank you crew team. They do have hotel valet services for $6 for four hours with validation. The only concern that I had for this evening was the tipping portion. I know as a patron I/we should have looked at our bill. We overlooked the part where they automatically added the tip to the bill. I'm assuming they did this since we are a bigger party. But what constitutes a big party - 6, 7, 8, etc.? There was nothing on the menu or any signs that said the tip (20%) would be automatically included for bigger parties. Next time, I will look through my bill thoroughly and not double tip!

Excellent little hidden gem The food was yummy My wife loved the gluten free mochi pancakes and ordered them twice during our stay. Light fluffy mochi pancakes served with maple syrup. I had the half papaya filled with yogurt and granola the two days and thought it was delicious! Fresh papaya, yummy yogurt and crunchy granola. Sprinkled with honey, very yummy! The service was wonderful. Friendly waiter very helpful and personable. Always filled our glass with water or our cup with coffee. The ambiance is friendly and comfortable and they have live music in the evenings as well. Much a relaxing place to be!

Solid smash burger and a wide range of food items at this grille near Ilikai Hotel in Waikiki. Also a good location to watch sports.

Servers are great, very friendly. Food is delicious and they have happy hour. Fish tacos, Kailua pork breakfast burrito, and teriyaki chicken were all good. Chips and guacamole were YUM but the homemade pico de gallo was watery and bland (very disappointing).

    Burger and chicken sliders

"Touristy bar food" that sums it up, food is blah and meh, nacho's with pork (assuming it's supposed to be Kalua pig/Kalua pork) was cold, reddish orange(?) with too much smoke flavoring - not good, chips were stale, gross. Burgers are ok, I think menu is targeted for the tourists with limited fresh local flavors and ingredients. We only came here because cousins were staying at the Ilikai. One redeeming fact is they have a nice view of Waikiki (only if you are seated outside). We came here late, 9:00 pm maybe that's why there was lack of service, where we had to flag down our server. Desserts are better than their food.

BAD EGGS - not scrambled soft.

Do you take reservations for 7 people?

Aloha yes, please give us a call at 808.774.3080.

I'm confused. Have to go there on Saturday at lunch. Do I park in the Ilikai parking entrance on Hobron Lane between Red Lobster and Chart house? If I do valet, where is the valet located? Do I enter Hobron Lane or elsewhere?

I recommend valet parking and ask restaurant staff to validate. The entrance to the hotel valet service is along Ala Moana Blvd, not Hobron Lane.

    Is there valet parking?

Yes, $6 dollars for four hours with restaurant validation.

Then, when we were ready to order dessert, they gave us the check. We felt like we were being shooed out of the restaurant even though it wasn't like we were lingering over a finished meal. The FOOD, though, was fantastic. The wagyu was absolutely amazing. The tonkatsu was very good, and I can see why so many people describe it as tender, juicy and perfectly crispy. I'm torn on this one. The food was excellent and the wagyu was a standout, but the service made the overall experience much less enjoyable than it should have been.

And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

That's how you know he cares about his business and how the customers are satisfied. Back again, I knew I would be to grab another Butterfly Pea Lemonade, avocado toast , and sausage. Still at the top of my list for places to eat here in Waikik. I also grabbed the Butterfly Coconut Thai Tea and it was soft, refreshing, creamy... just a delightful drink. It sprinkled almost every time we came and it was like a teardrops from God because everything was so good.

It says a lot about a business that follows up to offer opportunities for improved experiences. Again, would visit during a future stay in the area to try more of what they have on the menu! --- Original review: My family and I stopped by around mid-late morning for breakfast. The outdoor seating area is nice, and we were fortunate to get a spot under the shaded tables. We got a Loco Moco to share (mostly to satisfy our toddler's rice craving!). Gravy was great, patty was a little overcooked - but fine, and generally it was a solid dish. Unfortunately, we had to wait 40+ minutes for our order. We might have caught them on a rough day, so overall, would still recommend giving them a try if you have the time and can plan accordingly. I would go back to try other dishes, but perhaps not with a fussy, hungry toddler next time!
