I came to monkey pod for my daughter's wedding reception. It was a small group of us, but they were very accommodating with a reservation. The food was amazing. It was a little loud, but very fun and popular place.
I had seen on the internet that the Monkeypod Mai Tai is one of the best in Waikīkī, and it certainly did not disappoint. This Mai Tai was so good, I want to figure out how to make it at home. The Mac nut orgeat made a difference, for sure, and the honey-lilikoi foam added a perfect tart, fruity flavor. Now, I didn't just get drinks here, though that was indeed the standout. First, we were able to be seated really quickly even though it was busy because we went straight to the bar. The bartender and servers were nice and quick with their service, even during a storm (this is during the wind and rain of Tropical Storm Lala). I ordered the taro ravioli as something that I don't normally see on menus in Oregon, and the coconut corn chowder. I had eaten so much fish on my trip already that I guess I was ready for a vegetarian meal. Both were really good. For dessert, the strawberry cream pie was decent, but not worth the $15. With so many dessert options, I would go somewhere else for dessert. The ambiance was nice, even with all the madness outside. I love the Monkeypod tree decor inside and the music was nice. This was one of the best meals I had on my trip, so I would for sure go back, if at least for Mai Tais.
We came during happy hour and had about a 10 minute wait for a table, even though we arrived right at the start of happy hour. Honestly, the wait was completely worth it. We ordered the Ube Rey, Mai Tai, taro ravioli, Kālua pork pizza, Hamakua mushroom pizza, and coconut cream pie. There were so many things we wanted to try that it was hard to narrow it down! The pizzas were definitely the standout. The first pizza was so good that after finishing it, we immediately decided we had to order another one just to try a different flavor. Both the Kālua pork and Hamakua mushroom pizzas were packed with flavor, and I loved the combinations. The menu does a great job of taking familiar ingredients and putting them together in ways that feel a little different and unique without being weird. The taro ravioli was another favorite. Everything we tried had really good flavor and felt thoughtfully put together. Our server was also quite personable and fun and the view is fantastic! You get to see both Diamond Head and the water (you might even get some ocean waves sprinkling the air with spray if you're near the window). The happy hour pricing is also fantastic, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It makes it much easier to order a bunch of different things and share, which is exactly what I recommend doing here.
Another solid spot. This restaurant is open air and the food was very good. I'd recommend checking out the dessert too. The service was speedy and perfect spot for an even dinner in Waikīkī
The location and atmosphere are excellent, but the overall experience didn't fully impress me given the expensive prices. The Bad: The fish tacos lacked flavor (couldn't taste the fish), and the roasted chicken wings were far too salty to eat without dip. The Good: The Margherita pizza and coconut corn chowder were solid. The Best: Do not skip the Banana Cream Pie--it was pure heaven!
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FOAM! 4.8 You know that feeling when you have a song in your head and you can't stop thinking about it or humming it? Well, the Monkeypod Kitchen Mai Tai is that "song" for me. No matter how many months pass between trips to Hawaii, it's the one thing I'm always craving. First stop after our five plus hour flight is to always sit at the bar and hum my way through a Mai Tai. We've tried competitors' Mai Tais, but Monkeypod has THE BEST Mai Tai on the island (possibly the country)! It contains a double shot of rum, so pace yourself if you're a lightweight. What makes this extraordinary is the lilikoi (passion fruit) foam on the top. It's the reason I am "passion"ately in love with this cocktail. We've eaten at a table in their main dining room, however, we really enjoy bar seating during Happy Hour, which is from 3:30pm-5:00pm, daily (except select holidays) and again from 9:00pm-11:00pm. It is first come first serve at the bar. If you prefer table seating, be sure to make a reservation. The wait can be long without one. Their Happy Hour items include all of their appetizers at half price, excluding any seafood. Cocktails are $4 off, beers $2 off, wine by the glass $3 off and the pizzas (excluding the Bourgeois) are $17. All of the items we've tried are super delicious and the bartenders are all very friendly and professional. They also provide live music daily, at 12:30pm, 3:30pm and 7:30pm. Live music always adds such a refreshing and lively atmosphere, perfect for those vacationing vibes. Monkeypod is located in the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. There is valet parking with validation (cost depends on how long you stay and the time/day of the week). Great views of Waikiki beach and Diamond Head! Service is good, drinks came out fast but observation wise, food runners kept mixing up what tables to deliver food to. The wings and fries were great as appetizers. Fish taco and burgers needed more seasoning/flavor (so add salt/pepper or ask for sauces for your taste bud preference). Overall, we wanted to try Monkepod out (especially not being able to try them in Maui several times due to no open reservations and being very busy), but it's not a "keep coming back" place, feels commercialized like any other chain restaurant in Waikiki.
While on vacation in Honolulu, we stopped by Monkeypod Kitchen for lunch and absolutely loved it! Between the delicious food, beautiful waterfront setting with a view of Diamond Head, and welcoming atmosphere, it was one of our favorite meals of the trip. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and gave some of her favorite recommendations, which we really appreciated. We ended up ordering the pork and pineapple pizza that was perfectly savory and sweet for our main course. We also had the truffle fries that were crispy and paired perfectly with their aioli. Of course, we couln't leave without trying their famous Mai Tais that were perfect to drink while enjoying the ocean view. If you're looking for a relaxed lunch with great food and a view, Monkeypod is worth the visit!
Mai tails 10/10 strongly recommend trying it is nothing like a mai tai on the main land I had so many of these it shouldn't have been legal I enjoyed the whipped topping Jawaiian chicken - pretty good decent portion for one person not much to share but the flavor was good Fish & chips - my 7 year old god son loved it I wasn't a fan the inside of the batter was not fully cooked and it was soggy 2/10 Overall they are over priced but normal for a resort restaurant .. they have a mid day happy hour they are extremely busy most of the day we were lucky to grab a seat at the bar
Monkeypod Kitchen is the perfect spot for good fun and beautiful sunset views! This amazing restaurant is located in Waikiki inside the Westin resort. The restaurant is right next to the water so it is a very popular spot for dinner and they usually have a waiting list, so beware! Also, once you are on the waiting list, seating is first come first served, so you can't make any special requests to sit closer to the windows. With that being said, we got lucky and secured a really nice table with perfect sunset views, not too close to get splashed by waves (it happened to some people). For the food, we ordered a few pizzas, as well as the wings and a side of broccoli. All the pizzas are handmade and are more of a "personal" size. The pizzas were absolutely delicious and made to perfection. The wings were more of a mediterranean style and were delicious! Frankly I had never had anything like that before and I was obsessed. Also, the broccoli was cooked with some pepper flakes that gave it a very delicious flavor. Overall, everything was amazing and the staff was also five-star!
Incredible ocean view, amazing island flavors, killer mai tai, excellent service, live music. I could go on and on about this establishment! Recently visited during a family trip to Hawaii. Be ready to wait for awhile to be seated but it's definitely worth the wait. Lively atmosphere that is suitable for family's, kids, date night or even a night out with friends.
I thoroughly enjoyed my food and drink at Monkeypod. I visited twice in a week while friends were visiting. I tried the famous Mai Tai, which was very good and even better with the discount for happy hour. The lilikoi foam was tart and delicious. The pizzas were very good. I tried the truffle mushroom as well as the Moroccan spiced lamb sausage. Both had a good amount of cheese and toppings, although I had to pick off some of the fresh mint on the lamb sausage pizza as I found it a little heavy-handed. Truffle fries as a happy hour app were a good size for sharing and flavorful. Service was prompt and friendly. I would definitely come back again.
I can see why this place is the current hot spot... and I will not be surprised if it stays hot, hot, hot, because it is incredible. The restaurant is basically on top Of the ocean and the views take your breath away. Pro tip: try and get a sunset reservation and bring a charged phone for lots of pictures and videos. The food was soooooo good! My favorite dish was 100% the cornbread with shrimp: it was savory and spicy and a perfect amount. Even the kids seimen noodles were delicious and a large portion. Our drinks were always filled and we received the best desserts.

The view from the restaurant is very picturesque, just an amazing view of the beach. The service was also great, we asked for recommendations and the server explained the dishes recommended. The farmer's benedict was a solid choice, not spicy at all but please keep in mind that everyone's tolerance is not the same. The potatoes were a perfect side to the dish! But I must say that the green/fresh juice was amazing! I was worried because it had parsley (I have the soap genetic, sadly) but the server was very accommodating and let us sample the drink prior. I could not taste a hint of parsley! Such a good detox drink! read more

We made reservations accidentally during happy hour and were pleased to see some things we wanted to try were discounted, including the taro dumplings and the pizza! The menu was a fun take on seafood dishes and traditional beachfront restaurants. The hosts were the sweetest, and our server, Kylee, was so attentive and kind! She gave her recommendations for dishes, told us about happy hour, and refilled our drinks before we got a chance to ask! The band, Kaleo and Emile, were the sweetest and most talented singers. I appreciated that I could hear the music without it overpowering conversations at the table! Finally, the indoor-outdoor seating was perfectly temperate, with stunning ocean views, live music, and comfortable seating! I definitely recommend MonkeyPod for great service, wonderful food curated in a thoughtful menu, and beachy vibes! read more

Great location with ocean view options and live music by great singers doing their own renditions of popular songs. It's fun to see if you can guess the song while it unfolds. Lots of delicious options so there's something for everyone. Fun for the family or date night. They also offer a happy hour and their mai tai's are some of the best around! read more

They absolutely nailed it!! There's a reason they have so many amazing reviews here. Drinks, food, service, ambience - this place does it all and they do it right! Our sever Tony was an absolute gem helped to guide our orders by our taste, and didn't disappoint! Everything was so good, we insisted on finding the manager to give our compliments before leaving and almost came back the very next day! read more

We have gone to monkey pod kitchen in Maui several times in Honolulu. Came back. I am glad the Merriman chefs keeps the menu refreshed and updated. We had the fish and chips with the fish being Opah, which was delicious fries were a little soggy, but OK. Sauces were good. Also had the truffle mushroom pizza which was delicious, fresh catch, which was red snapper fresh and delicious with a fresh salad. Margaritas are the best with the Lilikoi foam always number one in Honolulu. Service was immaculate as usual ambience was casual. We did have reservations, which was appreciated. We will always come back. read more
We loved Monkeypod! We received this recommendation from a server at another restaurant. The lilikoi foam mai tai was delightful!! We shared the lobster deviled eggs- some of the best I've ever had! They really don't even need the lobster they're so good. We shared a steak, loved the jalapeño mashed potatoes. Finally, banana cream pie with the BEST whipped cream. Live music was playing and it was such a vibe. Totally unexpected but we loved it and will make this a repeat visit. Shout out to our server Cozy for making everything extra special. I enjoyed visiting Monkeypod beautiful water front seating! Great staff the place is has beautiful decor, inviting, and it is clean. Expect an hour wait for beach front seating! They have a great bar and their Mai Tai's are spectacular but pricey! I recommend going for happy hour! The food was good not great but I found their lobster pizza to be delicious. It was must stop in Waikiki for beach access, views, and ambiance. read more

We really enjoyed this spot! The atmosphere was great, especially being right along the beach. We came in for the late-night happy hour and both ordered Mai Tais, which were pretty good. I ordered the chicken wings and thought they were very good. The Greek yogurt dipping sauce was an especially great touch and went perfectly with the wings. My wife ordered the mushroom pizza, which she felt was just okay and didn't have quite as much flavor as she was hoping for. The restaurant was very busy, but our waitress did a great job staying attentive and taking care of us. I believe her name was Maria, and she was fantastic. Overall, a great place to enjoy some drinks, food, and a beachside atmosphere! read more
Kama'aina reporting here-- Excellent service, wonderful views of the surf, and the food was surprisingly exquisite! I got the fish burger to pack back on some protein post-surf and it did not disappoint. Fresh and delicious. Expensive but hey-- you're in Waikiki. Wasn't mad about it cuz the food was delicious and can't beat that view. Good beer selection as well. Furthermore, I forgot my hat here and two days later called to see if it was there and they kept it and had it ready for me to pick up! Mahalo! read more
We were primarily interested in the drinks at Monkeypod, so we made a reservation at 9pm after our actual dinner reservation at 7pm elsewhere. We wrapped up our dinner sooner than we had expected, and Monkeypod was a 5 minute walk down the street, so we asked if we could be seated sooner. The hostess said yes and gave us a buzzer, but there was still about a 20 minute wait before we were seated. We started with a round of the infamous Monkeypod Mai Tais. I had seen a clip of a girl on TikTok rolling around in the waves with the caption "me after 3 Monkeypod Mai Tais" and decided that I will most certainly have what she is having. They were so good y'all. I had been in such a lilikoi (passionfruit) mood that entire trip, and that honey-lilikoi foam on top of that Monkeypod Mai Tai is to die for. It's genius, really is what it is. And delicious. And strong. I could barely taste the sting of alcohol in this tropical wonder, but by sip #3, I was feeling the heat. Perfect. I could see why she had 3. Great vibes. On our second round of drinks, we all decided to get something different from each other. Collectively, we ordered the No' Ka Oi, the Ube Rey, and the Fifty-Foot Pole. You'll have to forgive me, but as you can see by the way I described the Mai Tais, by this point, I was not in the best position to be remembering how drinks tasted if you catch my drift. But, I can offer this brief summary. Out of the three drinks ordered on our second round, I liked the Fifty-Foot Pole the best, but nothing held a candle to the Monkeypod Mai Tai. As for food, we decided to order a couple of appetizers because we were curious and would've felt bad if we had only gotten drinks. Given that we were in Hawai'i, the Kalua Pork & Pineapple Pizza seemed incredibly appropriate. It was better than I was expecting. The spiciness from the jalapenos complemented the sweetness from the pineapple perfectly. All the toppings went together surprisingly well. I also liked the banana cream pie. The chicken wings though... meh. I shouldn't have felt bad at all though, because when the bill came out... Zoo Wee Mama! The 6 drinks alone were $120 total. The chicken wings were $24 (diabolical). The pizza was $25. The pie was $15. In total, our bill came out to $195 before tip. Keep in mind that we didn't get any entrees, but looking at this, I'm glad we didn't. If I were to return, I would only order drinks, which would still result in a sizable bill as each one is the price of a reasonable entree. I can't speak on the entrees, but I do think the food we did order was overpriced for what it was. Averaging out the amazing drinks with the.. "hmm.. should this be $25" food, I think that 4 stars is a fair rating. read more
In my opinion, this place is better than Duke's it gets very busy so make sure you reserve ahead for big groups or you can sit at the bar. Even with full seating and lines waiting, the whole operation is smooth and organized. The bartenders are sending out drinks non stop, while providing attentive service to the guests at the bar. They also have live music on weekends from local artists. Location is ocean front and you can see the view from most seatings in the restaurant We went for their happy hour menu, good value and variety of food options. Definitely try the truffle pizza - extra cheesy and crispy thin. Wings and shrimp are tasty too. The draft beer is highlight as they have a good mix of local Hawaiian and European beer read more
Come for the good food, gorgeous view and good service! Unlike many of the other large, touristy restaurant chains in Waikiki, this is one of the better ones. Make sure to make reservations and ask for a view of the water! You absolutely must get the ahi tuna, lobster deviled eggs, macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi, wood-fired pizza, and banana cream pie. People love their mai tais, but I didn't try it out. Their wine list could be better but hey, when in Hawaii, get a tropical drink! It'll photo better with that ocean view. read more

Enjoyed it a lot tonight. The live music is always great and appreciated. The servers are always really nice and attentive. Food was really good. Got the mushroom and then the margarita pizzas. Monkeypod is always a vibe. The service, the drinks, the attention to detail... always so good. Best place to get a good mai tai. This time around though, skip the lobster deviled eggs honestly not it. Weird flavor combo for lobster. Get a different app and you'll have a much better time lol. read more

One of the first restaurants I ate at when I arrived after moving to Hawaii. Great Mai tai and happy hour here is awesome. Dessert is even better. My kids enjoyed their noodle bowl with broccoli. We visited the Monkeypod Kitchen Waikīkī location, and the views alone make it worth the trip! If you're lucky enough to get an outdoor table near the ocean, just be prepared, you might get splashed by a little water every now and then. For us, it just added to the fun and reminded us how close we were to the beach. The live music created the perfect island atmosphere, making it a relaxing place to enjoy dinner and drinks. We also took advantage of happy hour, which starts at 3:30 PM. They offer half-off select appetizers (the non-seafood options) and $4 off drinks, which is a great deal. They are known for their Mai Tia and was told I needed to get one with extra foam... (they sneak up on you). That's my disclaimer :) Yes, it's on the pricier side, but that's something we expected for the location and experience. The Lobster Deviled Eggs were absolutely delicious, and the Korean Tacos were another standout. I went 2 times the week I was in Hawaii. My servers were fantastic. Mai tais were incredible. Didn't get a pic but the poke tacos and lobster deviled eggs were my favorite. Ordered the Margherita pizza and garlic fries as well and those were decent. Very busy both times I went. read more
Wow, thought this was a "for the view" restaurant but I'm so impressed! We sat by the water and MAN it truly felt like we were in the water - I couldn't even see sand, that's how close we were! Book around 5:30 to end right at sunset :) The mai tai exceeded expectations and I almost NEVER drink alcohol and I loved it! Bartenders and servers were so kind. They told me to make sure to mix all of the foam into the drink - I've seen tiktokers post these drinks and they drink the whole thing without stirring and I definitely think that would be a miss. My sister ordered the poke tacos, raviolis truffle fries as appetizers. I LOVED the poke tacos. For dinner, I had a Mai Tai and fish and chips. The fish were swordfish a the fish were so dense and yummy. I've never had swordfish fish and chips before. The aioli sauce that came with it was so yummy! Emily was our server and asked what our group of 17 was for an event. We told her we were celebrating my sister's wedding so she brought us pieces of pie to share. The strawberry pie was so yummy. We were so sad to learn that the orange cream sickle was out, but we tried the mango one and it was good as well. I love supporting a locally owned restaurant where they locally source their fresh veggies, fruit, and other ingredients. I hope to come back another time and try other foods. read more
my favorite meal of the vacation! came here for father's day lunch with my husband and daughter, and the live music really added to the ambiance. our server was amazing, answered all of our questions, and gave us great recommendations. the food was AMAZING!! my daughter got the complimentary butter and cheese noodles, which you can never go wrong with. my husband and i shared the poke tacos and the fish sandwich with a side of truffle fries. the truffle fries could have used a little more truffle flavor, but they were still really good! both the tacos and the fish sandwich were so fresh and flavorful. i would definitely recommend either of those dishes. if you like something light and fruity to drink, definitely get the ube cocktail! our server recommended it to me, and it ended up being my favorite drink of the trip. 10/10 would come back again! read more

Yes , you can take-out but the View of the Ocean is worth the price. Just ask for a Ocean View Table
Where do we park and do you accommodate for handicap parking?
They have valet parking service at the hotel.
Do you need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but I would highly recommend reservations as it can be busy during peak eating times.
Where's the best or least expensive place to park? I don't mind walking some .

Do they have any gluten-free pasta or gluten-free pizza?
As of springtime 2024, there's no mention of gluten-free options. Italian Tipo 00 flour is specified for their pizzas. Sorry.
Is it dog friendly?
I had dinner here on 3/17/24 and the table next to us had a dog. It barked every couple mins for a half hour and the restaurant did nothing. I'd say that's pretty dog-friendly.
Is it possible for 8 people to have an ocean view seat?
Most of the restaurant is ocean view so there's lots of seats to fit 8 people. If you're asking about beach front ocean views, it's possible to get two 4 tops, but I'm sure the wait will be long. Everyone wants those seats and it's way easier to…
