Mario's estimate was the lowest of four bids to add a bath and renovate another one and well, we got what we paid for - even 14 months later we're having other contractors correct his team's mistakes and very poor workmanship. A friend suggested getting an estimate so I'm writing this to save others from a tough time. I strongly urge you to avoid Mario and Aix construction unless you want to project manage every step, deal with terrible communication frequency (really infrequency until we reached out for updates...why was it always on us to find out?) and quality, never be told the project's status or when people will be on site (or if they can't make it never expect Mario to actually tell you so) and have the onus put on you to research things like local building codes. We had to watch his crew's work every step of the way because the quality was so low, they didn't install things in the right places, and we simply learned early on that we couldn't assume things would be done as we drew them up. For example, something as simple as a toilet paper holder wasn't centered on a two-foot wide wall, off by six inches...when we presented this to Mario he argued back hard when we were clearly in the right (hard to admit mistakes). I know six inches seems small, but every part of the job was just off like this...the sort of annoyances you know and see everyday b/c it's your home. We would've loved if the crew checked with us for each installation or decision point instead of just barreling ahead, then when a mistake's made it's like climbing up a mountain to get it corrected - are you counting on us, the paying customer to just not tell you to correct everything b/c so many things are wrong? Imagine needing to provide this much care for the new bath construction where doors aren't square, baseboards have slight bends to them, and tiles aren't centered - again every part needed our oversight and we're not builders. You don't want this, trust me. I'm happy to provide more details via messaging. I'm not a bot or a Yelper complaining that a phone call wasn't returned - I used them (wonder why there are no recent reviews). I'm just a homeowner who paid good money for something done right that never was, was a stressful time throughout, and am still using other contractors to cleanup Aix's poor work because I don't want to deal with them anymore. read more

Our realtor referred us to Mario and AIX Construction for a a project to convert a large downstairs bedroom/bonus room into two bedrooms and one bathroom. No square footage was added, but this was a large project involving significant electrical and plumbing, adding two new exterior sliding doors, a window, raising a sunken floor, and framing out new interior walls and closets. Mario met with us several times during the scoping and planning process, including working with his architect to draw up several plans for us to choose from in terms of the layout of the extra bedroom and new bath. Mario handled the planning and permitting with the Town of Danville, which was seamless, and then his team got to work. They were very respectful, clean, organized and diligent in completing tasks. The team was always able to accommodate our requests and make changes as we assessed the project at each stage. The finished product looks great and we love our new remodeled space. Upon recommendation of my Realtor, Emanuel Sakkis (see my review of Empire Realty), we recently hired Mario and his crew to do some work on our new home. I reached out to Mario via email, he responded within an hour to set up an appointment. I gave him a brief outline of what we were interested in doing and he agreed to meet us for a quote. Mario arrived on time, reviewed the area, and delivered an itemized quote by email within the day. Each portion of the job was detailed with parts/supplies and labor broken out separately. His prices are quite competitive. We decided to move forward with a portion of the projects and Mario met up at the house to determine the plan of action and agree on the timing and completion. We gave Mario a deposit and he got to work. The work was done on time, the crew was punctual and tidy, and the finished project far exceeded my expectations. We've recently hired Mario Salinas General Construction to do some work in our home and there simply aren't enough good things to say about Mario and his outstanding crew. As other reviewers have raved, they are punctual, thorough, professional, highly skilled and supremely considerate---always take extraordinary care of our home while they are here working. Mario was referred to me by a decorator I've been using to do what started out as a simple one room makeover. Our project has since morphed into nearly an entire house transformation due in large part to Mario's efficient and high-quality work and unbelievably competitive pricing. I have been simply blown away by this team time and time again and they never fail to deliver above and beyond what they promise to deliver no matter how big or trivial the request. As often happens with these types of projects there may be a tweak needed here or a color change needed there or an adjustment needed somewhere else. Prior to purchasing our home the inspectors found a few issues with the place, and we wanted to get an estimate on completing the work prior to purchasing the home. Mario was the only contractor who would come out to the property to give an estimate; all of the others contacted would only make an estimate over the phone. He came out at 7:30 PM on a week night (the only time we were available) to give the estimate, which included needing to crawl under the house and going up into the attic, something even the home inspectors would not do. The estimate was very complete and reasonably priced. After we bought the house, we hired his company to do the work. Mario and his crew redid the supports of our house, brought the plumbing system up to code, installed new rain gutters and a few other things. The final cost matched the estimate, the work was completed 2 days earlier than expected and Mario has to be one of the nicest people we have ever met. read more

From the beginning I felt comfortable with Mario. I am a person of few words. I explain what I want and like short concise answers. Mario supplied me with an overload of information for my project, which was some foundation work repaving a driveway and a new fence on my property. I was immediately impressed by the estimate. It was concise and detailed, each part of the project was priced separately so I had a better idea of where my money was going. He was competitive with the only other bid I asked for.
