However, I wouldn't necessarily classify it as sporting goods, they don't sale the same stuff you get at Academy to Dick's Sports, they sale outdoor mountainy type of items... climbing, hiking, kayaking, bouldering, trail walking, camping ... that type of stuff, both materials and the clothes. It is really nice inside. It doesn't look anything inside like the older exterior shows. The staff and I believe the owner are super nice. I came in today because they carry Kuhl brand clothing, I was surprised that they had more styles then REI did, and they had longer lengths. Walked out with some, very happy.

That said, the sheer size of the store usually keeps the crowds from feeling too overwhelming--unless you're at checkout. And while the prices can definitely be on the higher side, I somehow manage to walk out with something almost every time. Naveen immediately stopped restocking items and took me directly to where they were at. I didn't see the color or size that I was looking for, and she made a few trips to check their inventory in in the back. She was also very knowledgeable about questions that I had on different items. St Bernard has locations throughout the D/FW but their outlet is the true gem! Located out near Love Field in the warehouse sprawl, the Outlet is a bit out of the way for most. Their massive warehouse shop has a huge selection of clearance and last-season apparel, shoes, and outdoor gear for both cold and warm weather. Best known for ski and snowboard apparel, they also have a great selection of hiking gear, swim suits, shoes, luggage, sweaters, and casual apparel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bear has helped several times and he's very knowledgeable. My only negative perception is that some of their clearance ski apparel tends to be priced very high for an outlet. But like any outlet, it's all about the hunt for a bargain. St Bernard still is a high-end retailer so the brands they carry are top line. But wherever you may be driving from, it's worth the hike. Dallas is definitely not an outdoor mecca, especially for winter sports so it's nice to know for those of us who travel frequently, there's a place to find great gear.
