Best beef jerky out there. I've been ordering bulk for years now. Very fast service and I always get my deliveries quickly.

Too often, so called "gourmet" beef jerky is just salty without flavor or if they try too hard to be organic...

I just moved back to town and was pleasantly surprised to see this GORGEOUS tienda! I've never seen…read moreone so clean and so adorably decorated. They have a huge selection of authentic specialty food items, a takeout restaurant, party decor, home decor, and jewelry--- like you don't even have to go to Mexico. The staff is also the nicest, and in case you need English spoken, they do! I had a housewarming party coming up for about 45 people, so I had El Barrio cater for us without even first trying their food. (I know, crazy, right?) I'd fallen in love with the whole vibe of the store that I wanted to support them, so I took a chance. And I am SO GLAD I did! We ordered 45 taco entrees with 3 types of meat plus 2 types of salsas, rice and beans (--and omg, those pinto beans are to die for)! Every bite of the entree was delicious, and my guests were huge fans, too. We had SO much food left over that most of my guests took some to-go and we STILL had a ton left; luckily we'd bought a bunch of Tupperware just for this reason! I wish I had taken photos of the store and our catered food, but I just wanted to be in the moment and enjoy. Next time I go there maybe I'll record a video of the store and post it here. Till then, you'll have to go for yourself, and I hope you do!

" STOP SCROLLING - If you're in Grass Valley and haven't hit up **El Barrio Mexican Market** yet,…read morewhat are you even doing with your life?! I rolled up and ordered the **shrimp burrito**, expecting solid street-style Mexican vibes. Holy mole, was I underprepared. That FIRST bite? Straight fireworks - juicy, perfectly seasoned shrimp exploding with flavor, fresh ingredients, that ideal tortilla hug. I thought, 'Okay, this is already elite.' Then came the second bite... third... fourth... and by the FIFTH bite? Pure transcendence. The flavors just kept building, layering heat, zest, and that addictive savory punch without ever overwhelming. It didn't peak early - it escalated like a boss. Every subsequent bite somehow topped the last, turning a simple burrito into an unforgettable flavor journey. This isn't just food; it's a revelation wrapped in a tortilla. Authentic, made-to-order perfection from a spot that's bringing real corazón to downtown Grass Valley. If you're craving Mexican that hits different, do yourself a favor: get the shrimp burrito at El Barrio. You won't just eat - you'll ascend. 10/10, no notes. Already planning my next visit!"

We stopped in about 4:30pm on a Saturday, and the place was a madhouse. So many people in line you could hardly hear the workers behind the counter when they talked to you. With that, their service was fairly positive. The issue was the food was a big letdown compared to experiences I've had at other locations. The volume of lettuce was overwhelming but the volume of meat was underwhelming. I always order a California Club (which seems to be off menu here) but is a Turkey, Bacon, Avocado sandwich. I just get it Mikes way. They put so much oil and vinegar on it, that it was a soggy mess when I sat down to eat it back at the house, which is about 6 minutes away. The bread was drenched, soggy and falling apart. There was so little avocado on it that I questioned it was even there until I peeled the sandwich open. The other members of our group ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and had never had Jersey Mikes before. They rated it a 4/10. Like most new establishments, they have links to get out, and hopefully that's all that was happening here. We'll give them another try a few months down the line and see if the foods improved.

Kind of messy to eat with all the sauce but still good. My dad got the roast beef. He really liked it but he mentioned they don't serve pastrami and that's his favorite. Still a nice easy lunch.

Ends up this store has so many cool things. We sampled a bunch of things and everything was great not to mention the lady who was working was very nice and super knowledgeable. We ended up getting the Olives and the Brussels Sprouts Kimchi. Yes, Brussels Sprouts. Also the Kombucha was great! I am kinda of glad we were out of town or it is safe to say I would be there every weekend. Thank you.

Stopped by as we were passing through Grass Valley specifically because the storefront caught our eye and we are quick to be curious about anyone who is moving forward in the much needed fermented food niche. They create krauts made with different combinations of ingredients for delectable flavoring, from juniper to hops to apple! In addition are specialty products like probiotic olives and dilly beans. Ingredients are organic and locally-sourced. Sample one or all in order to choose your favorites. They also offer specialty ketchup, mustard, kombucha, and locally made ancient grains bread. The store is pristine, they sell ferment equipment including fermentation crocks (including one that is locally made!), hermetic glass bottles, how-to books, and other supplies. A great place to pick up what you need or gift to friends. The owners, Chris and Cristina are very friendly and welcoming. They're open to feedback and interested in widening their community of ferment aficionados. Their product is found in local stores and they have a strong interest in supporting their local community and gut health while providing education about the benefits of fermented foods.
