Absolutely love the green sauce. Sometimes I just wanna order a bottle of it and just put it on everything! Immediately after they come out with chicken soup . I don't eat meat so I passed. My roommate is the most picky eater in the world, and he loved it too thumbs up. We were so surprised. Then I made them eat the potatoes with the yellow sauce, so they can just have like the full Peruvian meal. They order the classic steak, rice french fries plate that most white boys like. I got the rice and vegetables and potatoes. It was OK I'm used to getting it with french fries so I was a little disappointing. It's the only time I like a soggy wet french fry. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hidden gem. I stumbled upon this place very randomly on Yelp and I was soo glad I did. This restaurant has a very homestyle, family vibe. Prices are reasonable. My friend and I both ordered the lomo Saltado which was amazing. Tender and juicy meat with garlicy and salty fries and onions. The dinner rolls and soup included were great as well. I ordered passion fruit juice and it was so sweet and tasty. I wanted to try their alfajores cookies but sadly they did not have them when I was there. I will definitely return and bring friends here! After eating here a few times for lunch and dinner, my favorite items are the lomo saltado and the tallarin pastas. What I like about Ají Verde is that the meats that come with the entrees are very good quality. The chicken soup that come with the lunch specials, the aguadito de pollo, is also very good and is obviously freshly made. I also like how they're generous with the delicious bread. The French fries have always been golden crisp and delicious. Don't forget the Inca Kola. Also, it helps when the service has been very good on all visits. Certainly, there are more aesthetically pleasing Peruvian restaurants, but when it comes down to what matters most--how good the food is--Ají Verde has, by far, the best Peruvian food I've had. read more

One of the best Peruvian places around, maybe the best in L.A. County. It's located in a pleasant little plaza in Paramount. It doesn't seem like anything incredible from the outside but the food...the food is authentic and beyond superb. I may know nothing about any other cuisine but having a Peruvian wife and having numerous home-cooked family meals in Peru as well as enjoying a plethora of restaurants on my many trips to the country, I think I can spot a legitimately fantastic Peruvian place when I see one. This is the real deal. I came for lunch and took it back to work. It was packaged well and was still hot 20 minutes after my purchase. The woman working the counter was very friendly, helpful, and competent. I ordered lomo saltado, an Inca Kola, plus some alfajores (Peruvian cookies) for dessert. The lomo saltado was one of the best I've had here in the States. Pieces of beef, onion, and tomato on a bed of fries. It looks simple but it can be easily screwed up. They do it perfectly here. I always complain how tasteless tomatoes are in the U.S. but the tomatoes they had in this lomo were quite flavorful. The beef was chunky as I like it and flavored well. It could have been more tender but my mentioning it is nitpicking. The alfajores are made in-house and were superb. I'd stop in again just to pick up another container of these delightful cookies. The lomo saltado comes with an enormous side of rice so you won't be hungry when you finish. I always laugh at how anyone can actually finish all the fries and rice in a serving of lomo saltado. They also provided containers of aji sauce which is traditionally used to spice up the meal (Americans typically dip bread in it) as well as small bread rolls. What amazed me most was that as a bonus this restaurant provided a container of chicken soup. I didn't ask for it, they just gave it as a free side. It was delicious soup and is something you would expect to receive in Peru as a homey gesture but I've never known a Peruvian restaurant here to give out soup just because. It made the meal feel more authentic. Peruvians LOVE soups (my wife insists soup be served to any dinner guests or at any special occasion meal). I really love that they do this. My BF loves lomo saltado and he approves of this spot , just wishes the beef had been more tender but he said it has the best flavor. Fries were crispy. I agree it's good. The soup with our meal was so amazing! It is broth with veggies but it's so flavorful and with a squeeze of lime is perfect. We also received complimentary bread which was warm and perfect with the warmed butter, great attention to detail. I had the papas with cheese, the cheese sauce was cold, but overall ok. Not my favorite. My steak with rice and beans with an egg and plantain was recommended by my server. The sides of plantain were soooo good. I could eat a bucket of them. Sweet and slightly crispy. The steak was thin, tender, and flavorful. What surprised me was the beans and rice mixed together in a lump under the steak. It doesn't look great but was SO GOOD! We went there for Mother's Day today after googling Peruvian restaurant nearby. It was kind of hidden but as soon as we entered we were welcomed in and sat down right away. The place is very clean and well kept. Nice decor on the walls and comfortable seating. The server brought us bread and butter right away followed by a soup (on the house) we weren't expecting that at all, so it was a nice treat! Ceviche mixto was the right mix though I always pine for those big baskets they give you at Mario's. Aji verde delivered and they give you a whole squeeze bottle. Saltado de mariscos was perfect. Friendo ordered the Aji de gallino as well, enjoyed but nothing to o compare/contrast to. Sadly they were out of pollo a la brasa ... This is my third time trying Peruvian food and my second time visiting this restaurant. The first time I came here, I tried the lomo saltado--it was average. On my second visit, I ordered the arroz chaufa with beef, but it was extremely salty. I politely asked the waiter if it was normally this salty, and she explained that it was due to the soy sauce they use, suggesting that I might not be accustomed to it. However, when I asked, another waiter gave me an unpleasant look, making me feel as if I were being scolded, even though I was respectful in my approach. I even mentioned that the meat was good, but the rice was overly salty. They eventually brought me another dish, supposedly with less salt, but it was only slightly better. I was disappointed with how they handled my simple question about the saltiness of the dish. Unfortunately, this will be my last time dining here. I live in the Bay Area and I came to this restaurant by chance since it was close to our hotel and it was a delicious surprise. There is so much diversity and food competition in LA but this restaurant takes the cake as you feel like home as soon as your enter. More importantly, the food is excellent and it will definitely be one of my to-go places every time I visit. This is a great spot to have real authentic Peruvian food. Each time I've been here, I've had a superb time. Lol. The owners are super friendly and they are attentive in the kitchen and front end. Everyone working here works hard. And they work as a team. The vibe is family friendly. It can get packed but the wait times are not long at all. This place is a treasure. The family and staff really take care of you like no other places. The place is very homey, comfortable, clean, spacious, and has this unique Peruvian diner element. We ordered the Ronda Marina (a must!) and Lomo Saltado (another signature must). The house soup was given to all of us, it's rice, vegetables, and chicken soup...super delicious. The flavors are very balanced, the ceviche is brilliant and tastes very good with the fried calamari, fish stew, fried sweet indigenous corn, and seafood rice. Finished off with Torta helada and Helada de lúcuma (super delish from Peru!). Also, the drinks are unique here...Inca Cola (tasted like Thai green Fanta haha), Maracuyá, and Chicha morada. The food is the best Peruvian I've tried yet. Not too salty, a common trap I've found in other establishments. Portions are really big too! Everyone working is super friendly. You get complimentary soup (some sort of greenish chicken soup-- sorry, I don't know my Peruvian dishes! I'm uncultured!) and bread rolls for both dine-in and to-go orders. My favorites are the pollo combinado (rice + beans) and especially the chaufa de pollo/chicken fried rice. I don't know what they put in that stuff, but it has to be magic. read more

Ordered 3 different things and it took only 10-15 minutes.. the aji camaron is decently sized and not overly stuffed with rice I would say just the right amount of rice and a good amount of shrimp and the round things in it look like scallops but they are potatoes. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was VERRRY delicious! I really didn't know what to order when I got there since I'm not really familiar with Peruvian food. Luckily my server Karla was helpful and recommended this dish and I'm so glad she did. The beef and onions were so good but even the fries had the same flavor as the beef and onions. I do love the green sauce that they serve on the side but I didn't want to ruin the delicious flavor of the dish. It's that good! Even the complementary small soup they served was great in itself.
