Better sushi place on same road.

Was in Novi yesterday, used to eat here often precovid. Got a carry out order, Ajishin chirashi. The owner made it. As you can see in picture, he cut scallop & shrimp in half, maybe more, to look like more . Shrimp is not expensive! Better to go to One World Market nearby for fair portion.

Spicy Tuna Roll (has crunchy flakes)!! And Soft Shell Crab Roll - so much flavor yum!

Take out only for dinner! I live in SoCal and this is one spot I'll trust in Michigan for freshness and quality. Amazing prices. Hard to beat. Sushi rice is fantastic and flavorful with sesame seeds and what tastes like rice vinegar. Hack: There is a Ding Tea a mile away, and the owner of Ding Tea was so chill about us eating our takeout Ajishin there (with us purchasing boba ofc).

Best udon hands down. I've been coming here for a decade and the food is still delicious and cheap. Since COVID, the restaurant has remained take-out only. The soup is so flavorful, salty, and umami. They serve other dishes like soba noodles, grilled fish, curry, and sushi which are also fantastic! Great portion sizes too. My top recommendations: - Kiyomizu: super simple udon with minimal toppings. Sooo good and perfect portion -- toppings really fill me up. - Kamogawa: duck udon with mountain vegetables. The duck makes the broth more fatty/rich in flavor and the duck pieces are delicious! - Ajishin: the classic. Contains a bit of everything, extremely filling and delicious. - Curry Rice: a must have! Such a thick and flavorful curry with a little bit of meat. They serve it with shrimp tempura which is so good. You can order a half order to go along with the udon! - Tamago nigiri: all the sushi is fantastic and cheap but the tamago nigiri at Ajishin is delicious and huge! This is a must try if you are ever in the area!

Ajishin is my absolute favorite Japanese restaurant in Michigan! I've been going here for more than 15 years with my family and I love recommending it to friends. When dine-in was open, it would be the homiest, close quarters dinner place. Unfortunately they're still closed for dine-in. In terms of food, they provide the highest quality udon and sushi for very low prices with entrees ranging from $8-$16 typically. My favorites are the Duck Udon, the Curry Udon (Testsugaku), the Curry Rice, the egg nigiri, and the Himuro. The udons and curry are great for when you want a comforting and homey meal whereas the Himuro is a fresh light soba salad with sashimi that's beautiful and one of my favorite meals of all time! Lunch specials are also always a great deal, typically a sushi bowl or rolls with onigiri on the side. TLDR: Ajishin is well worth the wait and drive, come here for great sushi, udon, and more!

Ajishin Udon - super flavorful broth that I always finish

The Ajishin udon is always a hit. It's under $10 and the broth is always super flavorful! A lot of udon in Michigan is usually a miss and I genuinely think Ajishin's is the only one that is consistent and the one that everyone loves. I don't really have much to say about this because... you just have to try it. It's just THAT good. In terms of favorite restaurants in the metro Detroit, I have to say that Ajishin is in my top 3 list. The prices here in general are quite comparable and you can easily be full and satisfied for under $15! I also love their chirashi bowl but it's been awhile since I've had it.

My husband also ordered some gyoza and I ordered a croquette. The atmosphere was very liminal and it felt so different than any other restaurant I've been to. There was Japanese television playing. Our food didn't take long to come out, and we were in love with our meals! We were honestly surprised the set meals came with so much, but we loved trying everything. I will say that while I do think the food was good, I wouldn't necessarily call this restaurant the cleanest place I've ever been too when it comes to a ramen spot. I think some small adjustments in this area could really take this restaurant to the next level. I'll still come back as they're still many items on the menu id love to try one day!

I ordered a Citrus Manhattan as a nice relaxing and refreshing cocktail and man did it hit the spot, at first it was very citrusy but give it a stir and it's quite fantastic. As an appetizer I ordered the Miso Soup and that was VERY delicious, the broth was very smooth. As for my Main Course I ordered two sushi rolls: Alaskan Roll & the Red Dragon Roll. Both rolls were very exquisite, the Red Dragon is something new I have never had before and I have to say that the spicy Mayo made it really good. I also had the Tempura Udon and it was very delicious. The egg yolk in the bowl was very creamy and the noodles were nice and soft. Everything here is very delicious. This is one of the coolest places I have been to you must definitely check it out.

Walking in should have told us what the experience would be, but I chalked it up to being a beautiful day and people probably cooking out instead of going out to eat. NOBODY there but us. Starting off, the waitress was extremely rude. Brother asked if he could get a bento box and she said yes, three bento boxes. Had to kindly clarify that myself and my husband were still looking at the menu and didn't want a bento box. She rolled her eyes and stomped away. I ended up with chicken teriyaki and tempura combination. My husband got the beef teriyaki and rice. My chicken was AWFUL, sliced super thin but it was extremely tough to chew and would not grind to small pieces. The tempura shrimp was super rubbery and I felt like I was chewing on a balloon. Both items I ended up basically swallowing whole because they would not reduce no matter how much I chewed. Now onto the worst item. My husbands teriyaki beef. He has been spitting and vomiting since we got home. He said it was really tough but it tasted ok. It had a lot of sauce on it so maybe that masked the rot. Only good thing was the miso soup, but you'd have to really try hard to ruin that. I would NEVER go back here. Between the extremely rude waiters and the awful food this place needs to be shut down.

About 10 minutes later, I paid for and got my meal. At least I could watch Fish TV since they don't have a live tank. When I got home, I found instead of tempura shrimp in the middle, it had that crab salad filling. Rest was normal dragon roll. Not impressed with it, average at best and that is being kind. Since I am moving, I will not be back but if I wasn't, I would stick to Busch's since it is also located in the strip mall.
