    Shrimp Tempura Soba Hot Soup

One of our favorite Japanese restaurants in Novi, MI. Excellent value. Nice selection of sushi and hot dishes. They have Takoyaki which is one of favorite appetizer. Not easy to find. Clientele is mostly Japanese which is good sign. I really loved the Katsudon bowl. Takoyaki has a ratio of octopus to batter. Sushi is okay for the price considering how far we are from the ocean. We prefer the hot dishes here. They have soba noodles here which you can't always find either at more Americanized restaurants. Service is friendly and efficient with a smile. No annoying robots.

I was really disappointed with this place as I had heard good reviews. Top disappointments were they were not GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY. No GF soy sauce, nor food selections. Rolls were loosely made. See pictures. Waiter was immensely under trained. He didn't any any answers to any of our questions. He had to go ask multiple times for answers which is fine, most likely he was knew and young but not once did a supervisor come check on us even though our waiter was very new. The fish did taste fresh and the ingredients were good but cut in a lazy way. Cucumbers were unusually cut thick. Presentation was crappy but over all waiter was nice. I would not return due to their lack of gluten free options. Definitely needs some modernization with dietary friendly needs.

Sushi Sampler. Had this for lunch. I prefer all salmon. The California rolls were delicious.

Sushi sampler for lunch. I prefer all salmon. California rolls were delicious. They are authentic but I prefer all maguro if possible.

Parking along the outside in front and also within the under ground parking garage. If you park in the underground parking, you need to use the elevator A to go up. Service is decent, but forgetful. Prices have gone up quite a lot in the last 6 months. Food is good, just pricier than before.

I like Oishi and I would like to frequent the restaurant more often. I especially enjoy the large list of appetizers that are mostly Japanese. Growing up with a Japanese Mom, I recognize and feel familiar with many of these items. They bring me back and they are not offered at many places these days. Overall, the food is very good. The ebi shumai is a favorite! Their ramen is good, I just wish they served it in bigger bowls with more delicious broth. The appetizers can amount to a nice diverse feast and allows for a lot of variety. The service has been attentive and friendly. The place gets busy at lunch. They also have nice specials easy day.

I used to come here relatively frequently for their ramen + fried rice combos, but their ramen just went really downhill: cheaper on the amount of noodles/pork, and super salty. Their fried rice, however, has always been tasty. I've gotten sushi here before and wasn't impressed. It was basically the quality of something you'd get at an American grocery store, and it's expensive too! This time, I ordered the pork fried rice entree and enjoyed it. The pork and vegetables were finely chopped and distributed evenly throughout. The rice itself had a great wok-seared flavor. The portion size was also generous and it came with a bowl of miso soup. For $9.95, it wasn't too bad. Service was okay. The waitress was friendly but a bit slow to bring drinks. She also put my friend's drink on my bill, but he just paid me back in cash so we didn't have to wait for her to fix it (we had a movie to catch). This place isn't my first choice, but it'll do in a pinch.

I came here for lunch on a Sat with two of my good friends and I'd definitely come back for lunch. My one friend who is a frequent diner here says it's the best way to experience this place because of you come at night it's quite expensive. I had the Udon and sushi lunch special. It came with udon noodles, scallions, sweet tofu and some sort of seaweed in a decent but lite on flavor broth. It came with three pieces of sushi salmon, shrimp and tuna. All were fresh and the salmon in particular was very tasty. This lunch special comes in at $8.95 and you get a good amount of food for that price. I also ordered a rainbow row which is my go to roll at every sushi place I go to. This one gets a few extra points for the eel portion which was really good.

Authentic fresh creative great service.. Truly Japanese not American Japanese... If you're not ready for that then you're not ready to eat Japanese food

Loved this hidden gem! It's a Novi must try. Finding good ramen and sushi outside of the big cities is either a hit or miss. Oishi was a home run! We couldn't decide between sushi or ramen so we decided why not get both. We started off with miso soup, it was $1.50! We got panfried gyoza that was slightly undercooked, but the spicy California roll for $5.50 made up for it. Plenty of wasabi and ginger for two. Cory got the Katsu Kare, amazing. Breaded and friend chicken with the perfect amount of curry sauce. He's been to japan and he says it's almost identical to how it tasted over there. Extremely authentic and flavorful, portions are huge! I got the hot and spicy ramen, holy cow portions are huge and it was fantastic. Grab the napkins though, it's spicy! I was so happy with our experience. Refreshing and welcoming atmosphere that's open and classy. The owners and staff are so kind and polite. We will definitely be back!

Now that the booths were removed and they only have regular table seating, service is a bit different (you order at the front or at the kiosk instead of someone taking your order), but I actually love how it all works! From an operational standpoint, I feel like it actually makes things go smoother and faster. Additionally, I don't know if it's just because I haven't had their sushi in a bit, but I felt like their portion sizes actually increased slightly (which is always amazing)!! Love love LOVEEE their sushi and hearty miso soup so much. Great selection of drinks from the fridge inside, and so many vegetables, fish, snacks, and essentials (e.g., hair care, toothpaste).

The premade food choices are growing by the day. They are always adding to their offerings with new flavors and tastes. I started coming to One world market in 1997 when it was first home by a husband and wife team. It was very special at that time to have a Japanese focused grocery store and I was so happy to have one in the Novi area. This has been my go-to for decades now. When it was transitioning from private ownership to the Noble Village group, owned by True World group, there was a transitional decline, thankfully, that didn't last long and things are developing very nicely. I hear even more growth is on the horizon as they establish an even greater presence in the building next door. I am also thankful that the integrity and the high-quality is very much present and everything they do. The service is always top notch and they try to open up a lot of lanes so people get through quickly because it is busier than ever. The word is definitely out. I've seen a lot of posts on social media and it's bringing in an even greater crowds, which is fantastic! Note: the on-line ordering is also so convenient and their sushi platters are high-level!

The menu is strong but limited, which I kind of like- limits decision fatigue, especially after a long day. I ordered the nigiri combo, for the cause. Nigiri is something I've only really gotten into this year, so I'm not an expert, but I know what I like and what I don't. Soft, sticky rice that feels fresh and adhesive but not clumpy, fresh smelling and looking fish. The California roll was a California roll. The nigiri was great however. The shrimp in particular was light and almost creamy tasting? I know that sounds odd but I mean it in a good way. The rest of the fish was good. I even tried eel (this is big for me) for the cause! It was rich and fatty, but not in an unpleasant way as I feared. It was pleasantly sauced, so I was able to try it sans soy sauce and was pleased! I *really* liked the soy sauce here, although they don't give you very much. They also are a bit stingy with the ginger. This was my first time trying tamago, which is a delicately sweetened egg roll stuffed with rice. If you're not used to it, you have to get over the look and just go for it! It's yummy! The restroom was clean but smelled faintly of cigarettes. To be honest... I didn't mind that. It kind of fit with the vibe and gave the restaurant a "real" "edgy" feel, although some people may not appreciate it. The interior is kind of messy and unkempt, but if you keep your eyes on the prize- the food- you'll leave happy!

Walking in should have told us what the experience would be, but I chalked it up to being a beautiful day and people probably cooking out instead of going out to eat. NOBODY there but us. Starting off, the waitress was extremely rude. Brother asked if he could get a bento box and she said yes, three bento boxes. Had to kindly clarify that myself and my husband were still looking at the menu and didn't want a bento box. She rolled her eyes and stomped away. I ended up with chicken teriyaki and tempura combination. My husband got the beef teriyaki and rice. My chicken was AWFUL, sliced super thin but it was extremely tough to chew and would not grind to small pieces. The tempura shrimp was super rubbery and I felt like I was chewing on a balloon. Both items I ended up basically swallowing whole because they would not reduce no matter how much I chewed. Now onto the worst item. My husbands teriyaki beef. He has been spitting and vomiting since we got home. He said it was really tough but it tasted ok. It had a lot of sauce on it so maybe that masked the rot. Only good thing was the miso soup, but you'd have to really try hard to ruin that. I would NEVER go back here. Between the extremely rude waiters and the awful food this place needs to be shut down.
