It's been a week since I had the "In & Out" service (wash, steam treatment, trim, no shaping or…read morestyling). I waited to write a review until after I washed and styled my hair myself, because that's when the truth comes out. My biggest concern was my curl pattern. I have had my hair blown out by different stylists in order to get a trim/cut, and a lot of the time there was at least minimal damage to my curl pattern. The Natural Masters stylist told me that she was going to be gentle and had used a heat protectant, so there wouldn't be any damage. Mmmmmmkaaaayyyy, side eye, side eye. But she was right. No noticeable damage. My hair feels fantastic and, even though she didn't specifically shape my hair, the shape is pretty good. I've seen a number of reviews that say the stylists make up pricing on the spot. "Determine pricing" is probably a more accurate way to put it. I was told that the price is dependent on length, which makes sense to me. My hair was bra-strap length when blown out, so on the longer side. The consultation + In & Out + scalp treatment cost $245. That's more than I've ever spent on a wash, deep condition, and trim, but worth it to me since I've never had such high quality versions of these services. The receptionist was kind and welcoming, the space was clean and well-appointed, and it was a very relaxing experience. My one complaint is that no one (including my stylist) introduced themselves. I'm only realizing this now since I'd like to give the receptionist and the stylist their due, but you know who you are - so thank you for such a great appointment!

I put a same day deposit for services which I was only told at the time would be deducted from the total. Apparently there was an email sent AFTER the phone conversation with the company policy which states they reserve the right to keep the deposit ( please see attached photograph). If I knew about the deposit being non refundable PRIOR TO /OR DURING booking , I would have done a walk in instead. After being told the service would cost almost $300, the service was declined and would not be refunded or transferred to another service. I asked to speak with the manager and was assured she would call me back that day. 1 week later, I have followed up and received a call back from Ms. Pauline. She attempted to be helpful but I found her tone and referring to me as "honey" instead of by my name ( as I did her) was very condescending. There was no offer of an apology just more explanation of why they were in the right and the customer who only received a consultation was in the wrong. I'm going to chuck up my $55 deposit as a "consultation fee" but it leaves me with no good word to spread about this company.

She was a few minutes late into my appt, which was fine, since I wasn't in a hurry at that time. Asja is very friendly and personable. At one point before she started cutting my hair, she asked me a question and I didn't understand what she said (she speaks w/a very strong accent). She picked up a razor and asked if it was okay if she used it to cut my hair. I said sure, why not? As I was waiting to pay, I just so happened to confirmed the price of my haircut - and that's when I found out that w/her utilizing a razor, they charge an additional $10! I told the receptionist that I had no idea that it cost more! She said, "oh, well, then we'll just charge you $5." I really don't understand why they would charge more for this and can't justify the extra cost since all she did was use a different tool and honestly, it seemed much easier for her to use rather than a pair of scissors (which she did use, as well). I was completely put off by this. If you're going to offer a certain type of service but not tell the customer that's an additional fee, that's just shady. It's a shame, because while I think she did a good job cutting my hair, I don't care for people not being completely transparent with me.
