Love the feel of the place and on top of that, Sanela and her staff make you feel quite at home. They offer coffee and tea while you wait btw. Also, Sanela is hilarious. After my colorist of 11 years moved out of state, I took to Yelp to help me find a new salon. To say I was extremely nervous to entrust my hair to a new stylist is an understatement. After a lengthy hiatus from coloring my hair, I knew it would potentially be a big job, but Sanela was up for the task and she did not disappoint. I stopped by the salon last week to get a feel of the business and to see if we jived, we did. The salon is neat, well stocked and the service was impeccable. Very relaxing atmosphere. Just sitting for my consult and speaking to her about what I wanted, I was at ease and felt confident in her capabilities. Today I came in for my visit and was blown away at how knowledgeable and attentive both she and her assistant Evelyn were. Again, customer service is top notch here. These ladies are super attentive and explained what they were doing every step of the way. Another take away is that they are a dynamite team, they work flawlessly and seamlessly with each other... definitely made me feel like I was in super capable hands. Sanela not only completely overhauled my hair color, she was careful in treating it correctly and was very honest with me to assure I maintained realistic expectations. My color came out perfect as did my cut! Very pleased with my visit and I am so very glad I found her! I found out about this salon through Facebook and other Yelp reviews. With the addition of it being in one of my favorite neighborhoods, I figured I'd give it a shot. It took two buses and a short walk to get there from Mount Vernon and, after today's experience, it was well worth the trip and I'm sure to be a return client! Upon arriving early for my appointment, I was greeted by Sanela and her lovely daughter. They offered me a beverage while I waited for my turn in the chair and I agreed to coffee. From the first few seconds of stepping into the establishment, I already felt so welcomed. Once Sanela was done with the customer before, she sat me down and had a discussion with me, wanting to better understand my wants and needs. I had intended to get the vast majority of my hair chopped off and I presented a stock photo from online as a sort of guideline, but she asked for a compromise; she strongly felt that I should get an asymmetrical bob in order to better accentuate my face, stating that if I truly didn't feel comfortable with it once the look was achieved, she would go with what I originally wanted. I decided to trust in her talents, knowledge, and experience and I'm ultimately glad that I did. This was the first time I took conscious note of a hairstylist's confidence in what they were doing. The way she worked with my hair using her hands, scissors, etc., I could tell that she was assured of her capabilities as well as more than merely hopeful of my reaction to the end result. I loved the way she explained everything and how she kept me in the loop. She has spunk and a great personality. Once done, she took pictures and I honestly thought someone else's hair had been placed on my head; it looked so good and felt refreshing! While I paid more than what I'm used to paying for my hair, it was definitely worth it because I was in the care of someone experienced, guiding, and attentive to my needs. My hair is curly, very fine and soft. So if it isn't cut the right way, it can me a small afro. She cut it in a way that gives it bounce & looks so healthy and soft. I was looking around on yelp and saw this place had great reviews. I decided to call for an appointment this weekend and was told they were booked but Hina was kind enough to say that they were empty at the moment and I could come in right now! Hina was so thoughtful and 100% honest about everything, which I SO appreciate. You can tell that not only has she been doing this for a long time but she has a passion for it. I didn't really know what I wanted when I walked in but she talked with me explaining what would work with my hair and what wouldn't. Hina was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do. I never felt pressured into anything at all which is so nice because I've had bad experiences at other salons with that. She also asked questions to make sure the cut would be perfect for me.
