This lovely local salon provided an urgent color correction and blow dry when my regular hairdresser was unexpectedly sick and unable to reschedule my regular maintenance appointment (sending her warm wishes for a comfortable recovery). Patti was able to fit me in early in the day and was very thorough and helpful in the color consultation. She provided excellent advice and was able to cover the grey, and corrected the color with a single process and several low lights. The experience was extremely pleasant and reassuring. I was able to arrive in the office on time - appearing presentable and well coiffed. I am enormously appreciative of their ability to fit me in on extraordinarily short notice. I have been passing this salon frequently for years without noticing it. Just 4 days before a trip, I was desperate to find an appointment anywhere for a Cezanne treatment. I went to the product's site and did a salon locator. After several calls, this salon was able to get me in for that same day and their price was the same as everywhere else. Just a few minutes later, I called again , thinking I was really pushing my luck, to see if they could also fit in my daughter for a trim. She was able to. It was so simple and the receptionist was so friendly! I jumped in my car and plugged in the address without even knowing what it was, but that it was definitely somewhere close. I couldn't believe it was right there all along. There is a big free parking lot right in back. I walked in and they knew my name and greeted me with the friendliest welcome. As if it couldn't have gotten better, they told me all of the services we were getting were HALF PRICE because we were new to the salon. Josi took care of my treatment and trimmed my hair, feeding me great and honest advice the entire time. Priscilla cut my 6 year old daughter's hair and straightened it beautifully (she has super curly hair) and took such nice care of her. They were just so accommodating, friendly and professional. TLDR; stylists are inexperienced and I was Rachel-ed. This is a long overdue review, but then again, it took a long time for me to regrow my haphazardly lopped off tresses and overcome the trauma this haircut inflicted on me. I went in for a basic trim, the stylist said I needed more volume, and gave me "The Rachel." The layers were uneven, it looked like I had a mullet, and she'd cut my bottom layer near my chin (the bottom layer had before been past my shoulders). I was horrified. I went to Spoke & Weal (a salon I cannot recommend enough) to have it fixed, and it took about a year and a half to mend itself. read more

Came in and was a little apprehensive about how the blow dry would be, I have very thick curly Dominican hair. I had all over highlights and a hair cut. I really like them and also I chose to get the ammonia-free products and it did make a difference. My hair has recovered fast from the initial dryness after highlights. I get so many compliments on my color and highlights from total strangers! The way Setsuko cuts my hair is magic. My hair is still long but it feels so much lighter. I went back for a Brazilian Blowout two years after the first one I had done there. The first time I used a Groupon and Amy did a great job. The second time, I paid the full price of $300 and left a little over a 20% tip expecting the same results. I kept telling her that the first time she washed, blow dried and flat ironed my hair twice as part of the process. She looked at me as if I were nuts. She only did it once this time. It's recommended you don't wash your hair for 2 days. I waited 3. When I did, it was as if I didn't have a treatment done at all. I went online and read the reviews. I should've done that before throwing my hard earned money down the drain. I see the generic response the salon gives so I'm not even going to bother calling to complain. I will never go back. I wanted to try another hair salon and searched on Google for a different perspective and this salon came up with good reviews. I found and bought a Groupon. When I called saying I was a new client and wanted to make an appointment from my Groupon, they put me on hold and I wanted for 6 minutes. I could still hear what's going on in the salon and didn't seem like there was a tornado. I hung up. It's not like I'm a diva and I can't wait on phone but this is a salon appointment, not health insurance, so I didn't have a good feeling about it and returned my Groupon. I just get a single color and they told me it was going to be $37 with the discount. Well when I went to go pay all of a sudden the price jumped to $63??? The owner made some excuse of adding $25 for pulling hair thru? I have never heard of that in any salon I've been too. Especially changing the price after the service is complete meaning you're stuck paying it! I should've been notified before this happened if I wanted to do that with the additional charge. Scam! I had a fabulous experience with Angelica at the salon yesterday. I had a groupon for a keratin treatment and haircut, both came out perfectly. Angelica gave me the "lob" I was looking for which was a huge feat - considering my hair was almost to my waist before my cut. She didn't take more or less than I'd asked for, and was so kind throughout the entire appointment. She's evidently a skilled keratin stylist as well, and although I haven't washed my hair yet, I can tell the results will be great. Lastly, the young woman (who's name I didn't catch) who greeted me at reception when I first came in, and came by my chair during my appointment to chat, was lovely as well. I have been cursed with fine, oily hair that just hangs there and I usually have to keep it very short because once it gets to my shoulders it's just a mess. When I say oily I mean a few hours after I shampoo I still have no life to my hair. Mercedes to the rescue! She recommended 2 shampoos for me that have changed my life (I can even skip shampoo days now) and gave me an amazing haircut that has movement and style; it even grew out very nicely. I've never posted a negative yelp review but I need to warn any prospective customers. Let me say that perhaps the employee isn't familiar with cutting men's hair. This isn't a men's salon so perhaps I just went to the wrong place. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt bc nothing else makes sense. Now that that's out of the way, I'll just say this individual should not cut another man's hair. Why? -I left with a two inch hole above my right ear with the hair buzzed messily down to the scalp. It legitimately looks like an injury so that's what I'll tell people when they ask. -I asked for a natural neck hairline (rounded), and got a severely squared off hairline. -When I asked to see the back, there was clearly no effort made to blend the sides and the top. I had to ask her to blend it more but even that didn't really fix it. -No attempt was made to clean hair off my face, neck or head when she "finished." I still tipped bc I technically received the service. And I don't use tips to punish people who rely on them. I just have no idea how she could feel ok with the haircut. Thank god I don't freak out about stuff like this and also it'll grow back. Guys, go somewhere else. read more
