Went into BASS PRO Destin this past weekend looking for for a pair of binoculars for our upcoming Alaskan cruise. I was wandering aimlessly in the isles as a salesman approached me and asked if he could be of assistance. His name was ''Eric'' . He showed me what was available on the floor, which was not all what I was looking for.....he said let's look in the case and see if we can't find a better solution for you.....He asked several questions, he asked what was the most important feature I was looking for, and then he explained all the different brands and made suggestions about size of lens and waterproof for weather elements we would be traveling. While visiting, we decided to go into Bass Pro to look for a cooler to bring fish & game home, but the selection was quite limited. This was a bit weird. We didn't need a $400 cooler for this task, and they didn't have anything that worked for us. This store was easily twice the size of our store in Alaska, which was cool, however it was more geared towards fishing/hunting in their are, which is understandable. Still nice to look around and see what's as out there. While wandering, we made it to the archery section and I thought to get our son a crossbow case for his birthday. They only had one hard case to choose from and the gentleman that offered assistance didn't know anything about crossbows or the cases, so that wasn't helpful. I checked out the section and only found the one type of case, so that's what we went with. As we were checking out, the cashier wasn't the most friendly nor helpful. I had to offer up my rewards card, request the veterans discount and when I asked for a gift receipt, he had no clue what I was talking about. After trying to explain it, I gave up and we were on our way. Sooooo... not the best customer service, that's for sure... but the store itself was pretty cool to wander through and peruse. read more

We ended up walking out without buying the stuff we had on the counter after waiting for her to finish her Facebook video on her phone and her immediately telling us to go to another register when I was told to check out there. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had in recent memory. I will never go to this Bass Pro shop again if I can avoid it. My first time going here was abysmal service and the second time was no better. This is not an isolated incident. The first employee I approached for help finding an item said "It's upstairs" then proceeded to continue working. After not finding a hat I was looking for, I went to the customer service desk and two employees both did not acknowledge my presence for about 30 seconds before they asked if I needed help, all the while not pulling their eyes up from the screen. They had half of a conversation with me, and didn't make eye contact with me the entire time. Also, neither of them gave me even a start to find what I was looking for. I love Cabela's and I know they combined their stores, but this store is bad. I stopped to pick up some 100 lbs. mono line and that was all I needed. I was walking up to opened cashier and she put the closed sign up and said she could not check me out. I had ONE item and it would have been easy to just take of it. She told me to wait for a different cashier, and I did. The person that was working now seemed to have some troubles as he was rocking back/forth and made several mistakes during this purchase, reminder it was ONE item. I stopped at local gear shop on way home, Half Hitch and low and behold they had lower prices by $5, I guess I learned my lesson today. read more

Located in the heart of the Destin Commons this anchor store has two floors of merchandise. Typical large Bass Pro Shop with just about everything under the sky involving outdoor activities. We found all our fishing needs here. Women's section is upstairs in the far left corner of the store. Not as much selection in the Womens section as other Bass Pros. Not a lot of after Labor Day sales but it seems like This is a very busy store so merchandise on sale goes quickly. Loved the fish tank and diver. This is a eye-treat for young children. Found the employees very friendly and very helpful. Some a little harder to find but this store is pretty large. read more

The bass pass is a horrible idea We were there over an hour before Santa stopped and hardly any kids were in the area. The man there was very rude saying no more passes, all were handed out earlier. I would rather wait in a line and get to see Santa after driving an hour as opposed to getting turned around. Also, we called as we were coming and was told to come on they had passes. read more

A year passes.... The remod is complete... And the employees are even MORE friendly and helpful. For instance, while checking out Columbia attire, I casually asked a sales clerk if Cabela's points were valid at Bass Pro, she looked puzzled and disappeared for a moment, then reappeared with an answer and an apology for not knowing the answer to begin with. The inventory levels were very good this year, even in the eyewear area. With the assistance of Ms Dom I found the exact pair of shades I was wanting with NO problem at all. As I mentioned in my previous review, this location is very FISHING oriented (imagine THAT!). But there's enough mix in the other sections to make a stop worthwhile. Speaking of worthwhile, the sales lady in eyewear (Ms Dom!) was a joy to interact with! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and offered to ring-up our purchases at her station, allowing us to avoid two VERY long lines at the main cashier exit. In fact, we returned the next day to pick-up a few more items that we pondered overnite. I assure you, that had we not been so well treated by all the staff, we wouldn't have battled the traffic to return. Previous Review.....This location is on the strip, so expect heavy traffic, long lines everywhere, and a voyage of discovery in order to find ANY parking place. That this location is undergoing a remodel doesn't help matters, either. Don't expect to find much in inventory that doesn't relate to fishing. After all, look at where you are! Despite long lines and hordes of tourists, every employee carried a great attitude. We were vacationing in Destin last week and needed some tackle, supplies, and a fishing license; lucky for us that Bass Pro Shop was less than a mile from where we were staying. We got to the pro shop a little before opening and had a chance to walk around and look at all the ATVs, Boats, and recreational vehicles that were on our wish list before hand. Once inside we found the gear we needed and got our license. The staff was very helpful at helping us find what we needed. They were out of several items we needed but recommended that we check at Half Hitch Tackle down the road. read more

I bought a Garret metal detector and a pin pointer there and when I got home I opened it up and found out it didn't come with head phones, so I took it back to exchange it for the one that has the head phones but they did not have that one. I went to customer service to get a refund and the lady had a attitude about it but gave me my refund. I decided to return the pin pointer since I found the detector I wanted and it came with the pin pointer and other things as a bundle, so I went back to return that and same lady was there and when I told her I wanted to return it she said "What is this Christmas with all of these returns" I told her I found a bundle package deal so I didn't need it, so she returned my money and stapled the receipt to my other one and told me here is your paper trail. I think maybe she should be in the returns department. read more

My husband and I left out of there not too long ago trying to buy a Kimber Ultra Carry II Two Tone. I'm active duty, but we were told my husband could not buy a gun because he is not in the military or FL resident, even though I had my orders, military ID, and FL ID. My husband name is on my orders, and was able to purchase a gun at a different store the day prior. Please train your staff on the gun purchase sell. We didn't like being told we didn't know what we was talking about. This is not our first time purchasing a gun outside of our state of residency. I really do not understand the draw to this store. It make be the fake 20 foot shark outside the building, or it could be the location of the store. Maybe I am just not the outdoorsy type. I have noticed a new trend among stores trying to sell services that you do not need or came in looking for. (It makes me feel like I am in the Mexican Market in Juarez) In this case it was an employee trying to sell me and my husband on vacation rentals through Bass Pro Shop. I am not even sure if I am more upset that she tried to sell it to us or how she tried to sell it to us. She came up to me and family and made small talk for a few minutes and then went into her selling speech. As a consumer I do not appreciate this, I came in to look for a certain item I do not want (or need) to hassled about a themed hotel, time share, or your conveniently located restaurant with all you can fried shrimp. The prices here are far from competitive. If you just drive a little bit you can find much of the fishing accessories at Wal-Mart. There are several in the area. The store does have a nice feature in that it has a large fish tank with several neat looking fish. read more

Bought a Columbia fishing shirt in the destin store with a gift card - prob feb or so. Washed once of twice and the hem completely unraveled. No biggie right - take it back to store and exchange? You would think. "manager" (and I use the term loosely) Jennifer basically said we had "snagged the shirt" then accused us of actually buying it at the outlet 5 miles down the road. She then said - how can I resell this without tags (you don't dummy - its damaged). Then she wanted a receipt? Who keeps receipts for all clothing they buy. A further exchange with an assistant manager also proved fruitless - he wanted us to drive the shirt back down there so he could look at it - 10 miles and ANOTHER $6 bridge toll. Basically at this point ill return it to their customer service which means mailing it and all the bull involved in that. Bottom line - you are a big company - a lot of lost "goodwill" on this one. Your managers in destin need to be trained - you don't call customers liars.... Poor service - untrained managers. Agree with the other poster who called them Bass Unpro.... First I was ignored in the gun department because the two at the counter rather talk to a couple about their dog. Then when I got to ask questions about the gun safes they had no idea about anything, let alone whether or not they would ship it. Who's training these workers? If I could give 0 stars I would. Security is called on us as we walk in the door. I then politely asked one of the only employees that I could find a question and he told me I was rude. Was looking for a Curado K high end bait caster. Was completely blown off and ignored by every employee in there, other than the ones thought we were stealing. I'm 38 years old. We signed up for the free surf fishing classes, so we could learn how to fish. WOW! I was very impressed with the whole experience. Dave, the instructor and his helpers were fabulous. Not only did they supply the equipment, bait and instruction, they were extremely friendly. You can tell they loved their jobs AND the company they worked for. When you fish, you stand around a lot "chatting." I learned all about Bass Pro Shop history and also a lot about fishing in the area. What a wonderful community service they are doing. Sure, they hope to sell some equipment along the way but these guys are going way above and beyond. Bravo Dave and Bass Pro Shop! Fun, wonderful experience. read more

I just had my first basspro experience and while not a hunter or fisherman, I do love boating and found this store to still be quite entertaining to browse and look at all of the variety of things for sale. The have a large selection of different types of boats, from camouflaged fishing boats to pontoon boats to speed boats. Inside they have an aquarium with giant fish and a huge selection of boating and other outdoor items. There is also a huge Jaws, great white shark, statue outside which is great for a picture. This is a great place to just walk around and browse things, even if you do not fish or hunt. As far as prices, I did find things to be quite expensive compared to other places. Some things I thought I might have wanted but was turned off by the high prices and instead just put on my buy later list. Despite not buying anything, I would still definitely return for a browse in the future and glad there is such a place. read more

My first bass pro shop experience. It was overwhelmingly cool walking in. I felt my wallet flinch in my pocket. They had a huge grouper and redfish in the aquarium. I found some cool items I'd been looking for that my local sports store didn't have. They were having a promotion to give away a shopping spree if you sign up, but then pushy sales people wouldn't leave you alone while you filed out your form. Went in on 5th February 2016 to buy some gear for my 1 month vacation in the area. What a disappointing visit. When I walked around a display corner near the fish tank in the back of the store, this big dude virtually jumped me, closing the distance, talking loud and fast to dominate me into following him to the counter to fill out some drawing application card. I'm not being precious, these guys were in Bass Pro Shop shirts and name tags, acting like aggressive street hustlers/touts. I managed to blow him and his tag team buddy off, and they finally left me alone. I was nearby 10 minutes later and saw they had roped in two elderly Canadian tourists, had them filling out the info card and I listened as big guy (a manager) steered the conversation into a sales pitch about taking a trip to see some condo resort someplace. It was so disappointing and irritating what they were doing but, moreover, the tactics they were using to do it. Got what I needed and other stuff the wife wanted. One employee saw I was carrying a fishing pole and line, and said if I went to the reel counter, which was unmanned, "they" would put the line on for me. Great! Then he paused and asked if I sure I REALLY wanted the kind of line I had selected...... pause.....said he had some other line (for 3x the price).... pause. I just looked at this guy, he was trying to up sell me. I realized what he was trying to do, shook my head in disgust and walked away, and he called after me, "No, wait, never mind, just go to the reel counter and I'll do it for you". After the attempted condo hustle in the back, I just shut down and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. I had taken the top part of my new, two piece fishing pole off (combo set including the reel already on it) so I didn't hit anything or anyone as I browsed the store. So it was in two pieces. The older lay who checked me out rang up my stuff and the bill came to $123.00. No way, my rough mental estimate for the gear and clothing we selected was 70, maybe 80 bucks, max. I asked her to check again and right away, she made this "oops I goofed" noise, and said she had accidentally charged me twice for the fishing pole because it was two pieces. She apologized but the more I think about it today and I looked again, there's only 1 bar code. She had to consciously and physically scan the same bar code. Twice. Had it not been for the other slippery employees, I would of dismissed as an innocent mistake but in hindsight, I really think she tried to slip one past me, and it almost worked. She then saw I had a US Military ID, and re-did the bill to include discount, which I had forgotten about, so her initiative was nice but at that point, I was very annoyed with the experience. My guess is they get a lot of tourist traffic, looky loos, so they try to squeeze money out of them without any care about return business from out of town vacationers. So sure, go there, they have lots of great stuff, but be on guard, don't take anything for granted and check your final bill. read more
