We stopped into AJ's In The Canyon after a long day hiking around Sedona, and the timing couldn't have been better. Everyone was starting to hit that wall. Tired, a little cranky, low on patience. You know the moment. This place fixed that pretty quickly. We kept it simple. Ice cream and shakes across the board. I went with a vanilla shake, and it was spot on. Thick, cold, not overly sweet, just done right. The kind of shake that actually feels like a reward after being out in the heat all day. The kids got ice cream and were instantly back to normal, which honestly might be the highest praise you can give a place like this. Inside was clean and well kept, which you notice right away. No sticky counters, no chaos. Just a comfortable place to sit for a bit and reset. Service was great. Friendly, easygoing, no attitude, no rush. They handled a tired group without making it feel like we were a problem, which goes a long way. Prices were reasonable too, especially for Sedona where things can creep up quickly. Nothing felt inflated or out of line. It's not trying to be anything more than what it is. A solid stop, good treats, good people, and a clean place to take a break. Service was extremely slow--we waited minimum 15 minutes for 1 scoop of ice cream. Only two employees were working, and instead of keeping things moving, one kept stopping to train the other on very basic tasks like scooping ice cream or bubble wrapping mugs while the line grew. At times, both would pause what they were doing, and I saw 2 groups of people walk out because of the wait. The ice cream is good, but nothing worth that kind of delay. I also asked for a plain cup and was told it would be $3.50 because it was their drink cups, meaning I'd be charged the same as buying a coffee, I was willing to pay but 3.50 felt excessive. While the service is good, the food taste could have been improved. The simple cheeseburger (Snoopy burger) is a very small patty that seemed to have been a frozen patty was overall under seasoned. The BLT was decent, but was lacking bacon in the overall sandwich. The French fries and Onion rings seemed overly greasy as well and was similarly under seasoned. read more

Nice little, quick in, quick out burger and fries stop. Not fancy, but most importantly not fast food. Great place to avoid Sedona proper allowing you to drive north, but without having to wait until you finish the long drive to Flagstaff. All counter service and self-seating. The burger and fries were made to order, decent size, but not particularly big . . . just enough to tide you over and get you thru the canyon. read more

The food was over priced and not well made. Burgers were burnt and over cooked, very dry and hard. The tenders were average fast food tender but also very hard. Fries were good. At $10+ for just the burger my expectation was way higher. The drinks were good though and the restrooms were clean enough. If you want to stop for drinks I'd recommend it. Used to be a Dairy Queen, but now AJ's. This will be my new stop when I go to Oak Creek Canyon now. I'm only there about once a year and stay in the canyon, which doesn't have a whole lot of options nearby. You have to either go into Sedona or Flagstaff to get a variety of options, but this is super close and really good! Really helpful people. I said I hadn't been there before and they were patient to answer my questions about the menu. I'll be back!! read more

I was at this business on two separate occasions and both times they had approximately one hour until closing. They had already put all the chairs up on the tables and countertops. Leaving no where to sit inside. They were already sweeping and mopping the floor. This did not suggest a welcoming environment. Most restaurants do their cleaning after they are officially closed not while they still have patrons coming in. Very overpriced for what they offer. read more
